Hey guys, I have wanted to discuss this for a while now, finally I get the chance because I have evidence. I know you guys have watched the trailer already (obviously), and you guys like the new roar, right? So, have you guys ever thought about what the roar sounds similar to? If you listen carefully to the first part of the roar, it almost sounds like a baby crying.

The link below will bring you to the video, letting you listen to the 6 second roar.  Listen to the first part of the roar:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhTOjDXAqXg

Now, I also want to talk about the second part of this discussion. It is about Zilla's roar. Probably you guys already noticed, but the roar of Zilla is the roar of 1993 Godzilla with a custom high-ptiched sound.

The link is below, listen to the second roar at the 3-4 second marker:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWgvaj1B6RY

Here is 1993 Godzilla roar to further proof this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuVnYdaKzSo

Let me know what you guys think at the comment section below!

It's funny you mention this because I was just thinking the 'Godzilla 2000' roar sounds very much like the 2014 one, with the strange almost metallic creaking at the end. New to Godzilla, and this is simply an observation I made while bowsing. Side note, Mothra and the twin fairies seem pretty awesome. :)

What a coincidence, and I will be sure to re-watch Godzilla vs Mothra. Thank you for posting on my discussion!

Actually those specific SFX were taken from Godzilla 1998, great find!

@KING GODZILLA24.7; Sorta, but I hear a lot of that metallic creaking sound, I can't describe it any other way some Godzilla have it and some dont. I find it very frightening.

Here are all the roars:

The only roar of Godzilla that scares me is the '84 Godzilla roar. I was listening to it during finals, and I literally jumped and everyone turned towards me.

I'm liking the new Godzilla roar, however I'm a fan of the classics, they are just fun and the original sounded like a dragon. Pretty sure the sound of the roar is a mixture of several sounds like for example a lions roar, a bear, a jet engine, a creeky door, a rocking chair, a trash compactor, etc etc... mixed with chorus, distortion and echo... all thrown into a metal box. :D Is there an actual recipe for Godzilla's roar? If so, I'd love to know what they combine to make it!

Anguiras' mew @ 1:56-1:58 and (slightly clearer) @ 2:01-2:02 in new trailer.

More to say, but my replies seem to keep getting eaten!

Actually, the roar is just a modified version of the original which is a rubber glove being dragged across a broken bass string. It was changed with computer modifications like the zilla roar (which is a modification of the 1993 Godzilla roar as explained above). I like the roar too, the movie comes out 8 days before I graduate to sophomore year!

I love the latest version of The King's Screech. It starts off with an almost percussive fury, then trails off to a mournful, questioning howl, which, for me, perfectly captures the character's essence. I can really feel the soulfulness of the contrabass (on which Maestro Ifukube created the original roar) in this one.

I agree, Shazo, about the '84 roar. Probably my personal favorite. Having said that, I've never heard a Godzilla roar that didn't fill my heart with pure, raw joy! I know, I'm easy, lol.

KingOfKaijus heard my previous observation too (Anguirus noises), so maybe I'm not having a complete psychotic breakdown featuring aural hallucinations.

When I saw the Godzilla trailer at an IMAX theater, his roar literally shook my body. It felt that is what it would feel like if was really there. It was incredible. I really like the new roar.

You have to remember that the Godzilla roar for the new Godzilla was meant to "tease". Thats why it was partially muffled with lightening and buildings crumbling.

But I think we'll hear a very classic roar. I just got back from seeing The Hobbit and got to see the trailer for the hundredth time on the big screen, bass boosted and I noticed more low growling noises all throughout the trailer following the Halo Jump than when I did with the initial web release. Could just be my speakers, but it was cool to notice the extra sounds.

I think we'll hear a mix between Godzilla 2000 and the 1954 original. A mixture of old and new - it certainly would fit the tone and purpose of this film.

@CHRIS PICARD

Hey Chris, thanks for the info. Mix between old a new sounds pretty cool actually. The roar is a bit edited, so I can see where your coming from. I never got to watch the hobbit, I was really looking forward to it.  I would like to see the trailer on the Big Screen, I hope to see it before it is too late. Anyway, thanks for your response. I appreciate it. I hope to hear from you again soon.

I saw the trailer in theaters, and I was sitting near the front of the screen; when the camera slowly moved upward, and showed Gojira turning around an releasing that trembling roar, I looked up at the King of the Monsters: the Destroyer of Worlds.
