J/K ;)
If you wait till the new 1 comes out there will probably be an influx of the old movies getting re-released to promote the franchise and you'll probably be able to get it cheaper
Elizabeth Olsen has said not to expect a happy ending with this movie. That should tell us all something right there...
I believe they'll take their time with the reveal, to build suspense. We'll definitely see the MUTO-related creature(s) first...
I'm not so sure that Legendary was thinking about children seeing this movie; it's dark, has alot of human drama, I'm assuming some graphioc death scenes, etc.
That being said, PG-13 is probably what they'll go with...
I'm saying it will be the best because of the approach, not hype. I don't agree that the past movies were "fantastic"; they were, with a few later exceptions, total cheese. Yeah, I enjoyed watching some of the Heisei and Millenium series movies, but even at their best, they were live-action Saturday morning cartoons. The Godzilla franchise has been a niche genre since Godzilla Raids Again, and, frankly, watching some guy in a rubber suit, no matter how well-done, is not comparable to modern FX. I'm sure the writing itself will be far beyond what's been done in the last twenty-some-odd movies, not to mention talented actors saying believable lines of dialogue...
No offense to anyone's personal taste, but with the exception of the 1954 original, none of the other films had any of that; they were just fun.
Just my .02
Wow the fact any1 is saying yes without a doubt just blows my mind. Still know almost nothing about it, have a director with 1 known movie under his belt, but yeah it will unquestionably be the greatest movie, trumping all 29 before it.
I'm all for being optimistic but for me that's saying it might be decent and enjoyable.
I don't understand why there's such a debate on his height. The director said barely taller, so if it's not really arguable that barely taller= almost twice any other incarnation's height.
Dont really matter to me as long as Godzilla is kicking some ass!
So Kyero,...you just debunct the whole height thing by using the Godzilla encounter huh??,,,great. We should all follow your grand wisdom huh? Sry, but i'm with DURATOK on this one. I'll believe what my eyes tell me. And what my education and work in photography will tell me. This is exactly what we don't want. Someone who speculates and claims it as fact...
Nice one akagi but if he appeared with no hint that would be a bit upsetting....5 minutes into the film and you see him destroying something and your thing WTF!?!?!!
Personally I'd take what I saw in the Godzilla trailer as closer proof of concept than the Godzilla Encounter.
My guess is around 600 feet, give or take 50.

This is my desing of the new godzilla 2014 and how he mite look but hope you guys injoy
Saying either way is jumping the gun. What if it sucks? How do we know it will be the best in the series?
I'm sorry, but there's still a stock of really fantastic movies in the franchise. These films were pioneering a genre that defined a filmmaking style and became a staple look for special effects movies in an entire country. It's easy to forget history, but that's a lot of cinematic baggage to live up to.
I'm not saying it can't, but claiming this movie will be the best of a 28 movie series without even seeing it is very, very arrogant.
i was thinking battra or ghidorah
ghidoarh been fighting godzilla forever and battra i thought was a good and kinda a tough monster and only seen in a movie once
I think we might get a glimpse of Godzilla in a flashback scene early on in the movie, maybe nucleur testing in the pacific stirs him and he is spotted by a few fishermen, becoming the stuff of legend. Gareth Edwards said he imagined the "guy in the suit" Gojira from the original movie was inspired by the real creature so we might be treated to some footage from the old films as The big G seeps his way into popular culture and further into myth. As for his big reveal I really hope he just shows up without warning - it has to be something shocking, like a sudden earthquake or a terrorist attack. He should just rise out of the ocean, stand there for a second as terrified onlookers try to make sense of what they're seeing...then, SKREEONK! The carnage begins.
Godzilla save the earth was far my favorite monster kick-ass game for the xbox

OK im just a huge fan of the godzilla character design. Godzilla is the coolest character i have ever seen and the design inspires me as a artist. So heres a few pics i did from all the leaked images that were shown over the past mounths..big fan of the Heisei godzilla model..love all the designs i have seen here...thanks

i think an ending like that at the end of the second hobbit would be nice, everything seems to be going well, the hero seems to have won and the BOOM everything suddenly falls apart and you see this OH CRAP look on all the characters faces. its a great way to end a film like this, especialy because it leaves it open to a sequel. also,it looks like this godzilla will, among other things, represent natures true power and so will be something that puts man in his place, such an ending would fit this quite well.
He'll appear as a giant monster.
:B
A film being rated R doesn't automatically make it dark or good.
A film being rated PG13 doesn't automatically make it a kids movie.
Lets be realistic, the film might have a serious tone, but I can tell that they definately want children to go see it. Its not going to be rated R.
IF anyone knows the rating boards, most violence doesn't bump a film up to an R Rating, its stuff like cursing and sex that does that.
Two hours is a nice length for a film.
Too much more and it'd be stagnet, too much less and it'd be too short.
I sadly think he will die in some superficial way. Everything I know about american film structuring and formula, you don't leave the monster alive at the end unless its in some cryptic, odd way.
Thus why I say he'll die in a superficial way. In other words, he'll seem dead, but won't actually be.
If that makes any sense.
And anyone who thinks Godzilla dieing means no sequel... I mean c'mon people... Godzilla dies and comes back as a passtime. Its what he does.
I'm not judging the movie, I'm just saying that the media doesn't know it's not related to zilla, it's just that people don't know. Speaking of details what gives you the impression I might hate the movie, I hate the media for ruining things that are not for tinkering. I will mostlikely love the movie, it could suck, I don't care about what is thought of us, unless it's not us, just bandwagon fans. I'm not worrying I'm thinking and predicting. What is it with people on this site taking it wrong, Good Lord!
My question for you, SHAZO, will you hate us for hating bandwagon fans?
Great man, thanks I havent seen many of the old movies so this helps me alot.
James is great! Love his review on the Gzilla games! HAHAHAHA epic!
I knew it, 90 minutes is not fit for a King's rule!
like a device from a spaceship? if so then i can see it happening, if there is aliens in the series.
@MATTZILLA115
How can people judge a movie they have not seen yet? If people would pay attention to details, it was said that this movie is in no relation to the '98 film. Besides, I dont know if it will be good or not, and neither does anybody else. Just looking at the trailer shows me that there is hard work being put into it. You worry to much about the future, just wait a few months. Who cares about what the media says? My question to you is: If the media hates it, will you too?
He will live. How do you stop a hurricane??? My first post!! YAY!
If I may, in the words of Raymond Burr from '85,"No matter what happens..., Godzilla will live."
Maybe his First apperence would be funny like he rises from the sea and starts dancing and says HEY! XD
I thing is that a all of us are fretting over the rating...as long as we can watch it and it's decent to great I'm happy no matter what rating...I mean no amount of blood or curses can ruin a film for me
That's interesting but a bit sketchy
