KyeroGodzilla 2014 ForumGodzilla Official Trailer 1 release date

Dude... that WAS the first official trailer.

That's not a teaser, nor is it a mood piece. That was an official trailer with official footage from the movie and displaying the final Godzilla in all of his CG glory. The trailer released online was not a teaser, it was the real deal. If you're asking when the NEXT official trailer will hit, then you shuld expect it sometime within the next two months or so.

KyeroGodzilla 2014 ForumWhat are you all most excited to see?

The first Godzilla movie I saw as a kid was Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. Not the best film to introduce me to the series, but a decent start none the less for a 4 year old. Since then, my love for Godzilla and the Toho series cast of monsters has only grown with me, and if I'm being honest the thing I'm looking forward to the most is simply seeing Godzilla on screen in a way that he has never been presented before.

High definition, ultra realistic, CG glory.

I doubt that we'll ever see Godzilla portrayed in a more accurate and detailed way.

The suits in the Toho series were fun, but becuase they were suits I never bought it as a real creature. Not even as a 4 year old. With luck, this new Godzilla will look like a real creature. That's my sincere hope for this movie.

KyeroGodzilla 2014 ForumThe most accurate drawing of Legendary's new Godzilla

I don't see this as being "the most accurate" of anything regarding the new Godzilla, to be honest. That posture is not what the new trailer depicted (and I know that because I have a copy of it in 1080p on my desktop right now) and if this silhouette were really being done Godzilla would be falling flat on his face given his depicted bulk in the trailer. He has a forward lean, true, but not this much nor that far over his own feet. He leans at the waist, not from the feet all the way to the head.

The spines on his back too are too large and don't follow the real Godzilla's shape very well at all. Again, I know because I have the frame of the trailer paused with a lightning flash with Godzilla's back and spines illuminated for me to compare against the picture. They're similar, yes, but not what you'd call "the most accurate."

It's a nice fan attempt to convey his shape, but ultimately I'm not seeing anything about it which stands out as impressive or "the most accurate." I'll prefer the trailer to this picture any day.

KyeroGodzilla 2014 ForumIf TOHO released all 28 or 29 Godzilla films in one box set

Said it on another thread, but this idea is not a good one. Not only is there no point in re-releasing the DVD's of Godzilla which already exist for almost all the films, but the price for remastering them all for DVD and Bluray release in a large box set would easily outweigh the income. Also, since Godzilla's popularity in the US is relatively low compared to what it used to be, the best time to do anything even remotely like this would be AFTER the film comes out. And even then, only if it's an outstanding success. If the movie blows away the box office, then releasing the old Godzilla films slowly, one at a time or maybe even two at a time would be the wisest option.

Releasing them all at once is a disaster waiting to happen.

KyeroGodzilla 2014 ForumAccidental Muto Leak?

The "Newsarama.com" website is nothing to take seriously folks. The one who wrote this supposed leak of information didn't even spell Gareth Edwards' name correctly. There's little to no professionalism in the way it's written, nor is there any indication of a source other than the website itself which has no claims to access of information within Legendary Pictures.

It's just another attempt to be the heroes presenting "official information."

In other words, it's bullshit.

@DOGGIEZILLA - I disagree.

This most certinly does NOT have to happen.

From an amateur fan standpoint, it's not a bad idea and I can see why people might think it would be a good one. It'd be fun, for sure, to know that all of our old favorite movies are coming back on DVD and Bluray.

However, from a realistic and practical standpoint, it's a horrible idea.

The cost of remastering and distributing the old Godzilla films in both DVD and Bluray will easily outweigh the income they receive, even as the final date of the 2014 movie comes around. Besides, nearly all of the old Godzilla films exist now on DVD already. Some of them are cheap as dirt, others as expensive as $60+, but they're out there. Why remake them when they already exist? It's completely without logic. Even boxing them together, there's no point. Why bother putting them all on Bluray when hardly anybody's bought the DVD's that already exist in the first place? True the film quality would improve a bit, as proven between the DVD and Bluray Godzilla vs. Biollante discs, but so too do the imperfections in the suits, wires, and other areas that were cleverly hidden within the quality of the old VHS tapes and DVD discs.

Neither Toho nor Legendary would truly gain anything from such a venture, and if anything they'd only end up losing money on the deal. Especially if they do this before the 2014 film.

In fact, the best time (and really the ONLY time) to do this would actually be AFTER the 2014 film has come out. And then only if it does very, very well. If the film is average, this will never work. If it's just good, this will never work. If the film exceeds expectations and is overwhelmingly positively received, then it's a good idea to slowly start reintroducing the classic Toho Godzilla films to a Bluray world. Keyword is "slowly." Trying to throw them all out at once is begging for a disaster.

@Ray Burrberry

Yeah, I'm hoping Classic Media will pick up Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster, Son of Godzilla, Godzilla vs. Hedorah, Godzilla vs. Gigan, Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla since Sony dropped them. I'm looking into how likely that is though. I don't know if they'd want those movies, find it finacially feasable or could even negociate everything with Toho in time for a retail release this year. I'm not sure yet.

Shout!Factory might also be an option, but we'll see.

Sony DVDs are really hit or miss. Their Showa DVDs were awesome, their Heisei DVDs are absolutely abysmal and the Millennium DVDs are okay, but have issues. I hope they re-release the Heisei and Millennium movies they own with the appropriate aspect ratios, Japanese language and better subtitles. Extras would be awesome too, but Sony doesn't really like to put much effort with their Godzilla releases.

Already been done here in Australia. Madman (an import film company) has released all of them in DVD sets. The showa was broken up into 2 sets, but Hesei & Millenium are 1 set each. Excellent qaulity conversion to, original Japanese with subtitles, but some have the option to switch to dubbing.

Godzilla 1985 was my first and it made me a fan because of its atmosphere. The musical score was incredible, as were the effects and action. One of a few childhood favorites that remains a favorite for me today.

@AIKO123 I highly doubt its going to be intentional, or even the humans doing to create the MUTOs to kill Godzilla. I have money on accidental, seeing Edwards wants to do the whole "Mother Nature Kicking Ass" theme.

I just don't like the idea of humans creating monsters to defeat another monster. Seems too cartoonish to me, and I couldn't picture that happening realisticly. Like if you can't stop a monster, why create a stronger monster to kill the one you already can't kill. What about the one you just made? I just couldnt picture humans purposely doing that. BUT it is a movie. If that's the case I can deal with it, but I prefer if it was accidental.

I know people are complaining about the arms, but this is a silhouette. And because of that there is no distinct detail or way to show how it would be. All we're seeing is the wrist to the fingers because the rest of the arm is hidden.

As for the picture, the outline is very close. I like the way this Godzilla's back is.

@GMAN2887

Thanks for the information. That's a very impressive and well researched list.

I wish that Classic Media would get the rights to most if not all of the Godzilla films. They did a really great job with the films that they own the video rights to, showcasing both the Japanese and English versions of the films.

I was kind of surprised to see that Sony owns many of them and also disappointed that they have not done a better job with the DVD and Blu-Ray releases here in the states.

Im actually most excited to see the tone and how the movie pans out. Of course I wanna see the monsters and Godzilla. I just want to have the whole, "What if this really happened?" feeling and believe that it could. Hopefully is stays creepy, suspensful, and SERIOUS all while having an epic spectical.

There's a strange feeling amongst the members here that if a topic is only a vague deviation from one that's already been posted they must make a new topic about it. I've lost count of how many redundant topics there are about Godzilla's height in the new movie. Probably close to a hundred by now...

I'm most excited for the visual effects. 2013 showed a great improvement of CGI with films like Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, and Gravity. Combine amazing CGI with destruction, and you have an amazing eye-candy show.

the destruction is one because it will give what 1998 lacked, good and serious acting from the cast very important anouther thing 98 lacked and everything else you put in your description.

might be clones of fossils found in the sinkholes. i also think they are created as biological weapons not against godzilla but against other nations. they gotten out on accident and they start destroying things and godzilla senses them in his territory and a battle insues. thats my two cents

If this is true then i can see the creation of the MUTO's happening 1 of 2 ways. Either they're engineered to pretect us against Godzilla and other Kaiju or its the classic science experiment gone wrong. They may even have honorable intentions if the latter is true, growing these creatures because they posess something that can aid mankind (like Deep Blue Sea when they grew the sharks brains to harvest..whatever it was they wanted :) I'm still really interested to see how they bring Godzilla into the mix and whether not it will be linked to the MUTO creation in any way. May can't come soon enough!
