"The monster known in Japan as Gojira will be fighting against test-tube monsters, dubbed Mutos, created in a secret government lab that threaten to take over the world.”

Turns out the Mutos may have been indeed made by the government, perhaps the MUTO organization is up to more than it seems.

What do you guys think?

i like the plot detail but how will the government "CREATE" the mutos?

If this is true then i can see the creation of the MUTO's happening 1 of 2 ways. Either they're engineered to pretect us against Godzilla and other Kaiju or its the classic science experiment gone wrong. They may even have honorable intentions if the latter is true, growing these creatures because they posess something that can aid mankind (like Deep Blue Sea when they grew the sharks brains to harvest..whatever it was they wanted :) I'm still really interested to see how they bring Godzilla into the mix and whether not it will be linked to the MUTO creation in any way. May can't come soon enough!

might be clones of fossils found in the sinkholes. i also think they are created as biological weapons not against godzilla but against other nations. they gotten out on accident and they start destroying things and godzilla senses them in his territory and a battle insues. thats my two cents

If this is true,(bare with me people) then we may have sequel material. I mean what other huge monster do we know of started out as test tube microscopic organism......exposed to, oh i dont know, the  Oxygen Destroyer?!

I just don't like the idea of humans creating monsters to defeat another monster. Seems too cartoonish to me, and I couldn't picture that happening realisticly. Like if you can't stop a monster, why create a stronger monster to kill the one you already can't kill. What about the one you just made? I just couldnt picture humans purposely doing that. BUT it is a movie. If that's the case I can deal with it, but I prefer if it was accidental.

@AIKO123 I highly doubt its going to be intentional, or even the humans doing to create the MUTOs to kill Godzilla. I have money on accidental, seeing Edwards wants to do the whole "Mother Nature Kicking Ass" theme.

@dinoboy22 we have the same idea about the sinkholes which I also posted on my blog as well http://kaijubattle.blogspot.com/2014/01/muto-musings-part-two-more-of-there.html

The "Newsarama.com" website is nothing to take seriously folks. The one who wrote this supposed leak of information didn't even spell Gareth Edwards' name correctly. There's little to no professionalism in the way it's written, nor is there any indication of a source other than the website itself which has no claims to access of information within Legendary Pictures.

It's just another attempt to be the heroes presenting "official information."

In other words, it's bullshit.

"Humans mess with Mother Nature, so Mother Nature fights back with it's own weapon: Godzilla"

I'm going to stick with this theory for the movie plot.

From the current official plot synopsis we do kind of know the Mutos are created by Humans, whether by accident or intentionally. So that much I wouldn't discount.

Muto's creation theory:

1. Titanosaurus is a mutated Sea Horse

2. Hedorah is a mutated, trash/pollution monster

3. Varan is a mutated Iguana

4. Zilla is a mutated Gecko

5. Rodan was a mutated Pterodactyl, found by scientists that went underground

6. Gezora is a mutated Giant Squid

7. Manda is a mutated Anaconda

8. Ebirah is a mutated Lobster

9. Baragon is a mutated, artificially mixture of pig-rat monster

10. Godzilla is a mutated Godzillasaur, found in the deep abyss of the earth.

What do you think about my hypothesis of what MUTO will do? I mean, you will have biollante and Destoryah as the ultimate mutation before the alien occurs.

@KEVIN_C_VANG Dude? Zilla's an iguana lol but I do like your Titanosaurus as a mutated sea horse thats a pretty cool idea and easier idea if to ever bring him in a movie

i keep feeling like they are going to change to origin story and Godzilla himself will be an excaped experiment from muto, maybe left for dead after a nuclear expiriment or some shit like that.

i can so easily see them taking the story up after the destroyah story line, casue godzilla jr. would have been exposed for a far more concentrated dose of nuclear energy from his father just before he had that meltdown, i believe that was godzilla number 2 and godzilla jr is the third. think of the night mare of that. so far 3 what happens when the numbers catch up and theres two then three then four..

If this is a complete re-imagining of the very first Godzilla, we should really keep an open mind. Yes the original was created out of radiation fallout, accidentally man made yet as natural as the force of the sea ect ect...do we really want it to be the same back story? If there are to be other genetically modified Kaiju/creatures in the film, they need to really all come from the same source. Like, the same nuclear radiation leak causing a bucket load of things to mutate, one of which happens to be Godzilla, who, doesn't so much want to fight other monsters but, maybe he see's them as prey? He is an animal after all...the military's role in the film obviously then clean up the mess that's been made by the government. It's going to be a sad film ultimately as we know they'll put down G' but it's a case of, at what cost?

@ESNKD

The most they'll change to the godzilla origin story are minute details. They already announced they're going to refer to 1954. And this is a reboot, so it won't be continuing of off the destroyah story line at all. It's a new storyline in its own right. Plus, you won't be seeing any other classic monsters in this movie and probably not even mentioned. TOHO only gave the rights to Godzilla. Not the rights to any other monster.

@gavthegothicchav

I'm pretty sure they won't be putting the big G down in this movie. Gareth Edwards is all sorts of pumped to make a sequel, assuming this movie goes well. And if we're going to go by the original Godzillas, then he is going to be damn near indestructable. At least to human weapons.
