That's great, man! Glad I could help.
19 out of 28 japanese movies (and the american one), about 20 figures, and some comics
This is exactly what I've been telling people. I outlined all of this in a post I made in this thread:
http://www.godzilla-movies.com/community/forums/topic/30600
Much of the information that Toho Kingdom is saying was taken from this article posted a few years back:
Better actors? The 50s and 60s consisted of the best Japanese actors in the country at the time. 70s-00s... Okay not so much...
Not sure how the costumes were even made then, but considering they were constantly experimenting with them I'd assume they did about as much touching up as possible... Except in vs. the Sea Monster and vs. Gigan. The suits were literally falling apart on screen in those films.
Way too much to list. I have a lot. I'll it at that...
Well, they didn't have good computers back then to animate stuff as good as the newest godzilla films. They only thing they could have put in, in the old movies would have to be better actors and maybe a touch up on godzillas costume once in a while.
The Showa movies are mostly fine, particularly through the 1960s. Even the 1970s are more compitent than first glances percieve.
My issue is the later films. A lot of it has to do with Toho being very demanding, Koichi Kawikata becoming lazy and the overall talent not being half of what Honda, Tsuburaya, Murata and Sekizawa were. Toho prefered to cut costs by making nobodies within their studio first time directors for Godzilla movies-- often it didn't pay off. Even when it did it wasn't that impressive.
The Millennium series has a sense of more artistic freedom than the Heisei series did, but it's still strangled by Toho's rushed production schedules. And the while the crews were inspired, they weren't up to par.
If anything could have been done better it's that Toho could and should have found more time and greater talent to make both the Heisei and Millennium series better representations of modern day tokusatsu. Instead they merely exercises in the style at best. Though, admittedly, enjoyable exercises.
Won't argue there, but I mean what could TOHO have done better, not really counting the American one here
I have Gojira '54 on a free DVD that I got with the guardian...
...that's about it :)
I unlocked this for a moment just to point out that the toy images were legit, I have emails from Legendary and WB and Bandai asking me to remove them and for the record, we never posted any of the (hilariously fake) scripts on our news section. The only thing we've faulted on was a very convincing video clip which 99% of the fan base fell for, including myself. You're 14, like you said, you've got a lot to learn about the internet and more specifically the difference between a FAN site and an OFFICIAL site. And the argument of "people don't know you're a fansite" is bullshit. No sympathy for people who can't read.
But okay, back to locking this up.
Again, this has been discussed to exhaustion. No need really for a new topic about this. Most of us have moved on, as others have said - there will always be trolls and we'll always have moments where we make mistakes. We laugh it off, move on and improve from it. Let's cut it with the repeat topics now please.
I'm still rather new to this site. However, I have to agree with the OP here, as it is very fun to speculate and get hyped for this upcoming movie. As a long-time Godzilla fan, and movie fan in general, I'm very used to false information and news. It's just to be expected after all, so all the anger and such in response feels very odd to me. I'm loving this site, and I hope it continues to flourish. :)
not too sure I like Zilla as the front picture for that article
Dude come on just let it go it's over now you can't expect every source to be 100% spot on and truthful. There will always be people who want to mislead us for their own no life living-in-mom's-basement reasons. We can all just calm down and discuss our favorite fire-breathing kaiju in peace and excitement.
Godzilla fan or newbie fan goosebumps. (continued from above comment)
@DOGGIEZILLA I got goosebumps just from the sheer excitement of it all. Seeing the shadow of Godzilla behind all of that dust and debris. The shot moving upward as wee see the classic spines reborn, and then the roar. That badass roar that cleared smoke around his head and led to the title was enough to give any long time
wow that will be a cool scene to see
Hmm... Tough call.
Well, I'll do my best.
#1 - GMK - Reason? The eyes and the snarl are just evil. No two ways about it.
#2 - Godzilla 1984 - Again, the eyes and the snarl of the suit were perfectly suited to the evil/monstrous appearance and the sense that this creature was not in any way a friend of makind.
#3 - Critical Mass (GvDestoroyah) - I know he didn't behave in an evil fashion, other than leveling Hong Kong in the opnening sequence, but he looked incredibly evil and very, very badass. I love that suit the most out of any in the Heisei series, if not just for those glowing eyes and spines.
@ GOJIRA2014 - Truthfully, I'm not offended by your words, but I will point out that you're being a complete hypocrite and very immature about the way you're going about voicing your anger.
Firstly, you're telling people to stop posting bullshit rumors, clips, etc,. But how many times have you bought into them along the way these last three years? Even if you aren't willing to admit it, either to yourself or to others, I'm going to guess that you've done the same as many your age and bought into or supported at least three or four items of information along the way. Deny it if you want, but I can tell by the way you worded your rant that you're still a teen, maybe even a pre teen. And yet here you are telling us, those who are older than you, that we're not using our brains?
It's an interesting theory, but it is still only your opinion.
Next, you're complaining about those who are complaining. That screams hypocrite. The subject matter might be different, but your own opinion is no more valid than theirs is. If you like the design, keep it to yourself and let others voice their opinions where they wish. It's not your place to tell them they're wrong, and if you think it is you need to get off your high horse because your word is not nearly as important or impactful as you might think it is. To them, you're just another random on the internet just as they are to you. If they're going to complain, let them, because you're not going to stop them either way. But here you are complaining about their complaints, and telling us how much it annoys you to hear them go on about what they don't like.
To word it nicely: Deal with it kid.
And now for the last part, the toys and hoxes. It's the internet kid. As long as there is someone out there who thinks it's going to be fun to mess with fans of ANY genre, character, or franchise, you're going to have trolls and hoaxers. How many of them do you think exist out there who enjoy messing with those who think Bigfoot is real? In a word: millions. There is nothing that you or anyone else can do about them. If you think posting about your distaste for such people like this is going to do any good, then I say again, you need to get off your high horse because you aren't going to change the reality that faces us today. It's the internet, and your voice, regardless of how important it is in your own mind, is not going to make a difference.
So, again, I'm not offended by your words, but for a young individual who seems to take pride in their intelligence, you haven't displayed very much of it with this post of yours. It was incredibly immature and poorly thought out, and while you haven't offended me or too many other people, you have shown me and almost everyone else who reads it that your rant is little more than another child's angry cry.
Piece of friendly advice GODZILLA 2014: You might want to rethink your strategy and double check your wording and use of language next time you go on a rant (and I'm not talking about swearing).
Well said Gavin. I've seen people berate other members for simply theorising about a film they're excited about..like "stop it! until you have proof, blah blah." I thought that was the purpose of forums like this, for like minded people to share ideas and news about Godzilla. Anyone who is angered by that is in the wrong place.
Why did alot ot people got goosebumps from the trailer? The was not scary, when I was a kid Godzilla didn't scare me one bit. I think it dependes on the person and we all know that everyone is different. Also as fare as children, I don't kown it dependes on the kid.
@ SMAUG THE MAGNIFICENT - Are you a Legendary executive and in a position to say with 100% official confirmation that it won't be a movie that kids can still watch? No?
Didn't think so.
Anyway, that aside, if the movie carries a PG-13 rating like I'm expecting it to right now, I don't see a reason why plenty of kids won't go see it. In fact, kids might even make the movie if there's enough of them.
Why?
Adults watch this and see a movie with special effets, plot, and actors.
Children see a monster on the screen, characters, and a fantasy world which they can lose themselves in. It's simple really. They're not old enough yet to truly see these movies for what they are as opposed to what they are seeing on screen in the moment or what they want to see. Kids when I was growing up were still all over the latest craze role playing whatever the recent fad was like Pokemon, Digimon, Final Fantasy, Dark Cloud, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic, everything.
Kids make many of the most successful franchises what they are. A good example is the anime Sailor Moon. Why is Sailor Moon one of the most, if not the most successful anime of all time? It's because it appealed to the pre-teen and teenage girl audiences and got them swooning and fauning all over it. They cosplayed it, roleplayed it, and collected all manner of toys and accessories to support it.
So I think that kids will be good for this movie. If it does well enough and still manages to draw in the more youthful crowds, it can do amazingly well because who wants to buy the most toys, games, costumes and movies? Kids. Adults are usually happy with seeing the movie in theaters and then buying it once it comes out, but kids? Whoo! Kids want SO much more and that is where real money can be made on franchises this large.
Now listen up bucko im 11 yrs old and i am a big godzilla fan. I can't wait for the new movie and im gonna like it.

Count me in. :) I visit this site several times every day to see what is going on. Unfortunately, what I have been seeing for a while now is an over abundance of negative posts: heated arguments, complaints, false information, rumor spreading, and all mannor of stuff that depresses me beyond belief. With a fan base as far spread as ours, its so hard to connect with ANYONE who gets you. And when you finally do find an online fan community, all you hear is arguing. Its very sad, and is begining to slowly suck the enjoyment out of being excited for this movie for me. Yet, I continue to support and visit this site. Why? Because mixed in with the trolls, the haters, the complainers and the whiners, there are the true fans who come here to share their excitement with other fans. For a Godzilla fan, that is something very special indeed.
So lets stop the complaining, stop hating, stop attacking, stop trolling, and start getting back to the heart of the matter... the return of Godzilla, in only three months! :)
I hope kids don't get scared by him but no I don't think they will because thats not what I see in godzilla
Me as well.....I just don't see the point really, arguing all over stuff when we can just help each other solve the problem instead....is this really how we gonna spend the rest of our days while Godzilla approaches? If so, that's just really saddening for all of us fans here, this has become more of our focus than the movie itself
