MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-11-2014 11:56 PMGodzilla 2014 looks cool but it gave me goosebumps. Imagine children watching it, like children under 10 or 9. What do you think. If any of you have kids what was their reaction to the trailers? if they saw it or not

Smaug The Magnificent
MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 12:00 AMOk let me get this strait, this is NOT going to be a kids film, got that? there is not going to be a reaction from kids because no kids will watch it unless their perents a shit at their job. okay?

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 12:07 AMEasy, easy there Smaug...relax. I saw the first original film when I was around 10, it scared me. It was supposed to scare us. However, today I feel that kids (and most people in general) have been de-sensitized to the point that nothing is truly scary anymore. Definitely a different time than this kid growing up in the early 70's, that's for sure.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 12:22 AM@ smaug the magnificent, kids go to p-13 movies, too you know, and I know Godzilla will be p-13 because people said it won't be rated r. At my local movie theatre I saw an 8 year old see cloverfield. Which is more violent than Godzilla

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 12:57 AMWell ok, the trailer shows and makes me think there will be frightening scenes in the movie, including the Mutos you know, like those other monster movies with 20 or 30 feet monsters that are mostly horror-like movies, which the Mutos might be to the humans.
Then as for Godzilla himself, well, it depends on how they show and go with him.
So as for now, Godzilla might not be scary to children, the children will just be amazed when seeing him, but as for the Mutos they might be frightening.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 1:44 AMI dunno, I just think parents will have to decide whether they think their kids will be able to handle some of the menacing, scary moments this movie will provide.
It's not necessarily a kids movie, it will definitely be frightening, but that doesn't mean kids shouldn't see it. My parents took me to see Jurassic Park in theaters when I was five or six. I remember being terrified by the velociraptors, but I also remember really liking the movie just because I was a dinosaur buff as a child (still haven't outgrown that).
Kids (like adults) have different preferences and limits in terms of what content sets them on edge or makes them uncomfortable vs what just adds to the adrenaline of the ride. It's definitely a judgement call. All I know is, if I was a young kid again, and saw the trailer for this movie, I'd be almost excited to see then as I am to see it now :-)

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 2:55 AM...it's a film about a MONSTER. ...PLEASE let it be scary to children. if it's not scary to children it's not going to be something i'll allow to be viewed by my children.

MemberBaragonFeb-12-2014 5:25 AMEvery kid is different. Some might be scared and some might love it. It's all preference. I don't have a child, but I'm sure if I did I'd gauge how much he/she wanted to see the movie with other movies they had seen in the past that scared them. If my child really wanted to see it I'd porbably let them. It's only PG-13 and i doubt the main genre it will be under would be horror, so I don't think it would be that bad.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 7:21 AMyou cant decide what kids are scared of and what they arent. I know kids who love horror movies but wont watch sesame street because big bird scares them. they had to modify animal crossing because kids were scared of resetti, these are the same kind of kids that arent scared of horror or war games but they are terrified of a talking mole.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 7:56 AMI watched a lot of scary movies growing up, but the only one to scar me, and give me nightmares was ET (I still can't watch it). At the same time Jurassic park and predator where two of my favorites. So you can't always predict how kids will react.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 12:32 PM@ SMAUG THE MAGNIFICENT - Are you a Legendary executive and in a position to say with 100% official confirmation that it won't be a movie that kids can still watch? No?
Didn't think so.
Anyway, that aside, if the movie carries a PG-13 rating like I'm expecting it to right now, I don't see a reason why plenty of kids won't go see it. In fact, kids might even make the movie if there's enough of them.
Why?
Adults watch this and see a movie with special effets, plot, and actors.
Children see a monster on the screen, characters, and a fantasy world which they can lose themselves in. It's simple really. They're not old enough yet to truly see these movies for what they are as opposed to what they are seeing on screen in the moment or what they want to see. Kids when I was growing up were still all over the latest craze role playing whatever the recent fad was like Pokemon, Digimon, Final Fantasy, Dark Cloud, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic, everything.
Kids make many of the most successful franchises what they are. A good example is the anime Sailor Moon. Why is Sailor Moon one of the most, if not the most successful anime of all time? It's because it appealed to the pre-teen and teenage girl audiences and got them swooning and fauning all over it. They cosplayed it, roleplayed it, and collected all manner of toys and accessories to support it.
So I think that kids will be good for this movie. If it does well enough and still manages to draw in the more youthful crowds, it can do amazingly well because who wants to buy the most toys, games, costumes and movies? Kids. Adults are usually happy with seeing the movie in theaters and then buying it once it comes out, but kids? Whoo! Kids want SO much more and that is where real money can be made on franchises this large.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 12:42 PMWhy did alot ot people got goosebumps from the trailer? The was not scary, when I was a kid Godzilla didn't scare me one bit. I think it dependes on the person and we all know that everyone is different. Also as fare as children, I don't kown it dependes on the kid.

THE DESTROYER OF WORLDS
MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 3:19 PM@DOGGIEZILLA I got goosebumps just from the sheer excitement of it all. Seeing the shadow of Godzilla behind all of that dust and debris. The shot moving upward as wee see the classic spines reborn, and then the roar. That badass roar that cleared smoke around his head and led to the title was enough to give any long time

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 8:34 PMI don't have any kids, but my two year old sister loves the shit out of it. She gets scared at the roar at the end, but other than that she keeps telling me to "watch again".
As for my five year old brother, he loved it too. He gets excited every time he sees it.
My other brother, who's 13, loves it as well.
My sister, 18, doesn't care for Godzilla at all and was rather apathetic when I showed her.
The only person I know who thinks it's completely scary is.. well nobody I know.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2014 8:42 PMMikezilla, people also say that Justin Bieber makes decent music. Godzilla isn't going to be rated PG13 because everyone's making this judgement based on what we're used to and what we hope would be done to make this easier to be accessed by the general audience.
There's a possibility that this movie could be rated R, but that chance is pretty slim.
What determines the rating of this movie are the movie rating companies, such as Motion Pictures Association of America (MPAA).
I think the rating will be revealed in the next trailer, or maybe the one after that.
:P

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-15-2014 2:30 PMI am nine (no joke) but i was afraid of Jigsaw when I was 2,3,45,6 and Big G could destroy his arse But that means that Big Gojira is problably scarier because of his size and looks but the trailer is scary alone for young kids but Legendary problably wants to make a young fanbase and they are making kids toys too so it five year olds may just be only bit creeped out but not too much
P.S. if they make it too scary a large amount of audience wont be able to give Legendary money by buying tickets
