I can´t belive that no one had saw this. The eye of Godzilla is NOT of that form. In fact, if you see the eye of the Brazilian poster, it is clear that the eye have a normal pupil. What some people belive it is a patition is only the reflection of the light, part of the same ilumination of the draw itself, and other part from the refletion over the material of the poster.
So NO, the eye of Godzilla is not like that of a cephalopod. He have eagle eyes, like Edwards mentioned before, not only in te form of the head, like one can suppose, but in the overall design.
The poster that was posted last week is called the Godzilla "Roar" poster and this one is the Godzilla "Airport" poster. The "Roar" poster was sold out of the Spencers stores on my area but it is available on eBay now which I think is the only online place to get it
@Bigbadben:
Uh... the dude has only made TWO movies. He was siting one of his favorite movies he has SEEN, not made. Obveously its a tease, and I hope a longer video is forthcoming. Pretty funny though how they timed his comment about one of the best movies ever made with the shot of Godzilla roaring though! :) Gareth would NEVER admit if his film was one of the greatest films ever made, although I'm hoping it turns out to be one!
The poster is 100% real and is awesome looking. It was sold out at the Spencer's stores near me but it's available on eBay now
Is it just me or is waiting 50 days incredibly harder then waiting 10 years? lol
Awesome gif btw of all the Godzillas over the years!
Holy, cow, how did we get to FIFTY DAYS ALREADY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! :O It seems like only yesterday that we crossed the 200 day barrier. Its insane how fast its coming. Its been a long ten years and, it seems, a somehow even longer six years since the film was first announced as being on Legendary's docket. I have personally gone from extremely cautious, to cautiously optimistic, to VERY optimistic to ABOUT TO WET MYSELF JUST THINKING ABOUT IT EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They appear to be doing everything right, Godzilla looks beyond epic, Gareth impresses me even more with each passing minute... yep, this movie is going to blow our ever... lovin'... God... forsaken... bloody... kaiju... lovin'... MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNDDDDSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
50 days left! Lets hope it goes quickly! :D
I have trust in Gareth, but the main guys who planned not give to much away are the producers not really Gareth.
The trailers alone are already in the top 5 of Godzilla movies ever made. I don't see how anyone who wants to see a serious take on Godzilla could be anything but ecstatic.
Ok....but you sure came across as rather serious, that's all I'm saying, but ok then, whatever you say....:)
GMAN2887-True, I guess Sony figure out there won't be "repeat customers" for any '98 sequel. Although I suppose that hasn't stop other studios. The Transformers franchise never enjoyed particularly good reviews (to put it mildly) but that hasn't stop them from churning out one sequel after another. Of course, one big difference is box office take. If the '98 box office was just "ok", the Transformers box office was way up there in the stratosphere.
Also, glad to know another Guyver admirer here. I really wish for another live-action Guyver too (decently-made of course). Steve Wang has the talent and understands this genre, all he needs is another opportunity to make a new Guyver movie, preferably with a bigger budget this time around.
hmm... i wouldnt mine seening some new rubber suit efffects, there are ways to make the rubber suit look realistic,
OOOOOOOOH I AM STOKED
ehhh e_e i honestly hope this isnt the final look..
Haha, advertising your own stuff as amazing, eh? Quite bold of you!
In all seriousness, very nice work. My only complaint is that thus far they're studies of existing Godzilla pieces. Do you plan on doing a free-style Godzilla picture?
I watched the YouTube video, and I agree that there most likely wouldn't be two active Godzillas. However, what wasn't addressed, and what I've read speculation about, is the gigantic skeleton seen in the underground scene from the trailer. More than a few people must be wondering if that's the fossil of a previous Godzilla...
Amazing artwork on these! I love the third one especially. :)
I love the trilogy. Daimajin in general is just such an awesome character/monster/being. And i also have the revoltech figure of him (I highly recommend it). My favorite will always be the first one!
I hate the T.V show though. It ruins the serious and ominous mood of the original Daimajin movies.
Oh jeesh, I saw a trailer for it and cringed. Dark/serious feudal Japan films about oppression turned into upbeat , modern power rangers style crap. Blahhhh.
Loved the music, obvious Ifukube wasn't contracted to any studio but for some reason it really surprised me that he did the score for Toho's rival.
"the closer we get to the 2014 release I get increasingly tired of the forums' near endless speculations of the same subjects over and over again so I thought I'd go old school."
I agree with you 500% and thank you. So, so much.
The trilogy is really awesome I agree. They're Daiei's best early work in the genre easily and the movies mop the floor with the Showa Gamera titles. Interesting that Ifukube decided to do the music for these.
Have you seen the recent television series?
Even if it is true I don't understand why fans are upset about it. There have been 2 Godzillas or more in most of the series timelines:
Showa Timeline - 3 Godzillas
Heisei Timeline - 3 Godzillas
Godzilla 2000 Timeline - We're not sure. Maybe two, but it doesn't reference the original film.
Godzilla x Megaguirus Timeline - 1 Godzilla
GMK Timeline - Unknown. It could've been the original Godzilla somehow or a whole new one.
Kiryu Timeline - 2 Godzillas
Final Wars Timeline - At least 2 Godzillas. Maybe 3. Like Godzilla 2000, it doesn't directly reference the original film. It could be a new Godzilla or the same one. But Minya is it so, there's at least 2.
@RF
I hope not. It was a wonderful style and tool and I'd love to see it progressed in the age of "realistic" effects. It's nice that Godzilla is going that route for a change of pace, but I'm not of the opinion that "real" equates "better". Which brings me to...
@Kyorah16
Your original question suggests that suitmation in the context of Godzilla, Gamera and other toku were supposed to look real to begin with. This may have been the case in the 1950s, but it developed into something more in the 1960s. Realism wasn't the key. Style was. The extreme color pallet, the wild designs, the extravegant sets...etc... were all staples of 1960s sci-fi the world over, but with Godzilla wasn't aiming to be realistic.
As I've mentioned before, "realism" is an extremely post-modern, western (North American) way of looking at filmmaking. The point of Godzilla, and the many franchises it inspired, wasn't to be realistic, but to be sufficient unto themselves. The idea was to create miniatures that looked like really GOOD miniatures and monster suits that looked like really GOOD monsters suits. From there, the particular style of good miniatures and monster suits told the story. Sort of like theatre and broadway shows use props and costumes to represent animals and surroundings, even though said animals and surroundings don't really look like that in reality.
Realism is overrated. That said, I do hope people like Higuchi find a way to keep the toku style of suitmation and miniatures alive.
Simply put, rubber suits, animatronics and other practical effects can be much, much more convincing than any CGI with a relatively high budget and talented SFX artists (if you need proof of that, just check out this Youtube channel). However, since I'm not very optimistic, I suspect we'll be stuck with every major movie using all CGI, all the time, forever.
Damn, some of these are better then the real ones, unfortunately that's means you can't actually get them, sigh
50.
I watched "Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster" in the theaters.
Some of these are truly awe-inspiring, and could be used as actual promotional material.
"its rather meaningless to discuss it as a comparision to real animals in a serious fashion, which is what you seem to be doing."
I'm not, and I never was. There, end of discussion.
Dude this was sick good find
If G2014 is a success, we will see another American-made Godzilla movie, with probably another Toho monster (to introduce to the general American audience). All CGI, no suits.
I seriously doubt we'll see many world-protecting kaiju, at least from Hollywood. Those don't sell well.
Things I've gathered from various articles:
Hokkaido - MUTO attacks nuclear power plant (15 years prior) - reactor scenes
Hawaii - Godzilla's first appearance - tsunami clip
Las Vegas - MUTO(s) wreck town
San Francisco - Godzilla vs. MUTO(s) - HALO jump clips, airport clips, flares
Let's hope the suit is dead for good!
The 2 Godzillas theory has always just been a fringe guess at a new possibility. Speculation is fun, but it's probably less than <10% of it actually being true.
Ya thats the way it seems. Maybe it is Legit...? Probably a clear shot of the Muto because it doesnt make sense for them to not release more views of Godzilla. At this point hes not a mystery anymore.
@THEGMAN123 Dang 10km tall is just crazy! You would would like be able to see him from space lol! Now I'm wondering what kind of universe you have in your mind.
But anyway, I would choose a huge sauropod like Brachiosaurus or Argentinasaurus. Just imagine how big that thing would be! Even Godzilla would have trouble taking that thing down.
can someone give me an exact date on the 12 in figure
Oh. Look. A thread speculating about Mutos again. Let me mark my calendar for this rare occasion.
I would put in a wolverine. They're already tough enough to take on bears over 10 times their own size, and buffing that up to Kaiju-proportions would just make them nearly untouchable. Except by Godzilla, obviously! Especially my 10km tall version in my own Kaiju universe, but that's a story for the future generations of Kaiju fans. When I'm really old and Godzilla is reaching his 100th anniversary.
I guess the picture was taken down?
