How Mechagodzilla could be in the Godzilla sequal

I was wondering the same thing myself. Here's my thought to a MechaGodzilla (Using the classic Battlepack Kiryu as inspiration)...

1: After studying the MUTOs, America would make, inaddition to Aircraft missile, have a 'MUTO Missile'. This would arch up, home in on the designated target, and leave an EMP device. This device has a limited field and works for only a few minutes, but should be enough against a dangerous kaiju (especially the electrical kinds, after all GODZILLA couldn't be the only one to use it).

2: Instead of plasma guns, to be realistic, use a Lightning Beam (instead of Atomic Breath). Here's an article talking about real lightning gun http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2012/06/27/army-looks-to-strike-foes-with-lightning-weapon/ .The dorsal spines would hold the giant batteries to charge this Beam (well, that and every other electrical system). This 'Kiryu' can swim, and its "gills" will use the water to recharge the mega-generator (in addition to the solar panel spines).

3: Say some Godzilla scale armor (either fallen from Godzilla or found at another of his species skeletons) to be a big part of its outer armor (any gaps to be filled with normal metal).  Now my own personal story line would have a human female pilot that, through the special pilot link up, "sees" and "hears" through the machine... making the pilot almost feel like a real Godzilla.

4: It would be human driven naturally, and this GodzillaBOT would move and 'feel' like a real Godzilla.

1. Why make something just like godzilla when you can make it better. 

2. Godzilla jusr saved there lazy buts remember...why engage...di...did he steal a snicker bar on his way out of the commercail show?

Mechagodzilla doesn't have a place in this franchise for one reason: he's an impractical enemy for Godzilla.

There's no logic to humans creating a mecha based on Godzilla's shape. The anatomical limitations to the robot would be more a hindrance than a help, and no matter how many weapons they give him they'd be forced to limit it to missiles and rockets since this is going for realism and not fantasy based energy or plasma weaponry. Such a mecha that could only use missiles and such would be a complete waste of money in this realstic take on Godzilla, and the end costs would not justify the product nor its performance.

Mechagodzilla, like King Ghidorah and a few other Kaiju from Toho, were only ever designed to look good on the screen. They weren't designed to be practical or actually make sense, and since making sense is what Legendary is going for, they'd never use Mechagodzilla.

I think if the audience could suspend their disbelieve to the point not one but three different near indistuctible monsters existed all with varying powers and abilities there wouldn't be a problem with saying that the military has developed a beamlike weapon to combat them and installed it on a mecha. This is from the movie that had helicopters, and people partolling the sight the fem muto was being held and no one noticed the huge hole she left of felt the destruction as she broke out of solid rock in a facility until they opened the door to it, yeah mecha with beams doesn't seem all that dumb or unrealistic after that type of scene.

That being said I don't think MechaG or any of toho's monsters should come back for the most part. They've had their spotlight, some multiple times, it's time to add to the monsters instead of treading tired ground of reusing the popular ones just because.

The military developing powerful plasma/laser/whatever weapons and ultra-durable armor wouldn't really stretch disbelief too much (although it should probably take at least two films for it to be developed), but yeah, there definitely won't be any kind of "mechas." If they do create unique machines equipped with advanced technology to fight the monsters, they will almost certainly be Super X-style aircraft or big tank-like vehicles.

I like your idea on the governments of the world joining together to make a weapon to fight Godzilla and other kaiju. That means the GDF is established, thus means the construction of MechaGodzilla. I would think that they would make him look like Kiryu (which in my opinion is the best design of the MechaG's). Also since a lot of people and sources are rumored to have Godzilla tie in with the Pacific Rim universe, that brings up a possibilty of MechaG being built or even Jet Jaguar being a jaeger
