Now I know that there is a screencap of the winged Muto breaking free of these cables, so is this a Cocoon for it? Was it once eight-legged, or are they the same creature and it just pulls a Mothra on us? I think there are two Mutos, but it's still a theory nonetheless.

KAIJUGROUPIE84 - I had notticed that strange object in the preview. That being said, I hadn't considered the possibility that the MUTO organisms might actually pupate into more powerful creatures. Perhaps the 8-legged variant is somewhat like an insect nymph and must undergo a metamorphosis in order to assume their adult physiology. An extremely compelling question you raise here! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. :)

Wow, I never saw the correlation between the two. Great find.

You know, that raises another question for me. How long would it take for a MUTO organism to undergo metamorphosis - and does it require a power source to do so (namely nuclear power)? Things brings to mind the image of the nuclear warhead overlaid with eggs/cocoons. Interesting stuff! :)

I would suppose that's where the 8-legged Femuto has made rest at.
Maybe the Hokmuto is coming to get the Femuto and it gets stuck in the wires?

From the start, I already had the thought that Godzilla wasn't dealing with multiple MUTOs but dealing with one single enemy that had the ability to evolve into different forms. Till now, as details of the movie become clearer, I still stick to my theory that what Godzilla is facing is a Muto that has been created from an ancient organism by scientists that went out of control, which was stated in a thread I created quite a while ago. http://www.godzilla-movies.com/community/forums/topic/32187 To add on, in the interview with Gareth Edwards on the design of the monster, he revealed that it was designed in such a way that when you look it at, you would know it was evolved from the same organism.
And I am sure, apart from the 8-legged and winged form, Godzilla will be facing off with the final form of the Muto that has not been revealed. For those who argue that they only see two toy Mutos to back up their thoughts, what I can say is Legendary and Toho wouldn't be so dumb to release all the toys available for order from the movie to spoil the plot when they so much want to keep a secret. I am sure the two mutos revealed are just the icing on the cake.

If you look very closely at the screenshots of the muto at the airport you can see that it's sprouts wings, not the fully developed wings, but wings that are developing. If I'm not mistaken people who saw the clip a sdcc 2013 said that the wings where not fully grown for developed, they said it was like a "membrane". Just thought I'd put that out there

DESTROYAH-X - That's a fine arguement you pose. Your thoughts are well-developed and interesting. Thanks for adding them! :)
EVAN123 - I'd heard about that before, but not in that great of detail! Thank you! Extremely compelling infmormation! This girl is SO hyped to see this movie - I can barely contain it! :)
Evan123April 05, 2014
Haha yes, I'm the same, I think I might explode before the movies out! All the speculation just muddles my head!!

Oh, blast it! I'm so sorry for the double posts. :( Please forgive my stupidity. :(

Destroyah-xApril 05, 2014
@Evan123 - When I saw the screenshot of the Muto facing off Godzilla at the airport, I thought I saw something like wings on the back, cos they look like they are longer than its front legs, and the muto looked more like a praying mantis in that angle. I wanted to highlight the presence of wings but was thinking I'll probably be attacked by a lot of skeptics and die-hards.
Turns out u also noticed it haha.

DESTROYAH-X - It was quite compelling. Thank you for directing me to it! :)

That is a interesting theory, it would explain why the muto look so similar.

Durp004April 05, 2014
While I'm not going against the fact they may be the same creature, but just because the look the same doesn't mean 1 is just a more evolved form of another. There are plenty of insects(I'm using insect because from the full body shot of the muto it looked much more insect, than anything else) that are of the same species but look different. Different sexes will often take different forms, usually the female being the larger 1. The caccoon may actually be a nest, or maybe the winged muto just fully matured while the other attacks cities, explaining why they are not always together. There are a huge amount of ideas I could throw out as to why they look the same, but are 2 different creatures.
If it is the same it wouldn't be bad or anything, but I think the final fight would have more on the line if Godzilla was against 2 monsters even if at least 1 is smaller than him by a decent margin.

It looks like they dug the thing up. It looks like it belongs in the same scene as the "eggs". :O

It's the claw from the end of the main trailer. The rest is still being uncovered.

dinoboy22April 05, 2014
@gbetta35 it does look like the claw but im not sure. good observation though

i dont know something about these mutos just isn't adding up.
What i mean is these muto creatures seem to be new type of life forms that may have exsisted before godzilla, that thing in the picture to me could be some type of alien like thing that wiped out the dinosaurs along with godzilla's family only leaving godzilla himself left behind to wonder alone and some how locked himself up to stay alive after so long.
Then in 1954 being awoken up again he is trying to be killed by the h-bombs which only gave him new powers that he never had before "the atomic breath of course" but, the muto research facility uncovers that thing in the picture realizing that it is extraterrestrial and that it can capture any life form here on the earth and transform them into a unique brand of monsters.
Of course i know i could be 100% wrong about this but this is only my theory on it, i mean these new monsters seem very alien like to me :)

Oh man, you beat me to the topic! :( I was just about to bring up the cocoon theory. Good on ya for getting to it first, man! :)
Daikaiju_Danielle:
That is EXACTLY what I thought too! If this thing is some type of egg or cocoon, its possible that the eggs or egg-like nodes growing on that warhead from the trailer are subteranian extensions of this object, and the cavern with the warhead is right underneith this thing! It could b drawing energy from the warhead to help it pupate or gain strength! WHO KNOWS?!?!?!?! :O

The thought of it being a claw is extremely interesting. The creature could be submerged in ice etc. as the place around it looks quite cold and it also gave that impression when you see the muto rising and st being caught by the wires!
On second thoughts it is most likely a cocoon as it is truly massive in comparison to the car I observed in the screenshot, it is far to big to be just the claw. The people studying it almost definitely know what's going on, why else would they put a maze of wires above it? It's to contain the animal #FAIL
How far can we push nature before it pushes back?

gojira23April 05, 2014
um...okay....when i look at the right side of it,it looks like I can see a beak-like mouth...and it seems as if to the left, there is a contsricted body...almost like rodan...perhaps this may be a third type of muto, being put in containmant? Perhaps, the first muto shot we've seen with the flying one,was a muto trying to rescue it,except they capture it in the wires, but fail... just a specualtion.
Linkman89April 05, 2014
Not feeling well today so didn't read all the comments... maybe it goes through several evolutions... from the hokmuto to the muto we saw killed in the SDCC 12 footage and out of that carcass the final, massive flying muto would come? Just a cool thought

BarudarrowiApril 05, 2014
Well if the Muto does undergo metamorphosis and the two fors are one and the same, then there could still be a whole other monster in the film. Edwards said there would be only 2. Maybe Vishnu (if that's what we're still calling him) from the CC footage could still be in the film.
The cocoon stage must take awhile judging from the huge, sophisticated getup they have there.
