MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-06-2014 11:01 PMIt's rumores that the latest incarnation of Godzilla will be around 700 feet tall! That's astounding size! But it's also rumored that Godzilla was an ancient beast that has been around for millions of years and that the bomb "Changed him." Anyways, I think I may have figured out a plausible reason as to how Godzilla got so big in the first place.
If a dinosaur were to get irradiated and grew to a larger size, it's legs would snap under the immense weight and the bones wouls not be able to grow with the rest of the body. However, if the radiation from the bomb affected the Pituitary Gland (also known as the Master Gland that controls enzyme and growth hormone distribution throughout the body) then it could work. Let's say the Godzillasaurus species was an omnivorous species that grew to reach about 25 to 30 feet in height due to island gigantism and an abundance of vegetaion fot them to sustain their larger bodies.
After the bomb drops, the fallout affects the living Godzillasaurus internally and externally causing severe burns and tumors. Those who did not perish and only suffered minor injuries go on to reproduce young. That 2nd and 3rd generation are born with a Gigantism trait caused by the radiation. They are born with an overactive Pituitary gland that causes them to grow to 90 to 100 feet tall. Not as big as the first Godzilla, but still large.
This was simply a theory I came up with that could possibly explain how there are multiple Godzillas in the early Showa series as well as the later Millennium Series, examples include: Godzilla Raids Again and Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-06-2014 11:35 PMI think we've already figured out he's not going to be 700 feet tall.
Simply by using San Francisco's geographical elevation differences we've been able to place Godzilla's location on a hill that's literally right next to the referenced building.
Also, since when does "a little bit taller" mean "well shit, let's make him more than twice his highest height in cinematic history and call it 'just a bit taller'."?
Also, I wouldn't expect anything with dinosaurs being radiated to become giant monsters. If dinosaurs are a must for you, maybe radiation given off by the meteor that supposedly caused the dinos to go extinct. and then go off with your mutation theory you seem to have worked out.
I don't think the whole dinosaur thing would really cut it in a movie like this.
To be honest, I hope they don't go head first and try to explain Godzilla's existence. Because this movie is supposed to be "grounded in reality", I don't think anyone would have the time or resources to uncover Godzilla's origins.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-06-2014 11:41 PM@BCRockett94, I probably should've cleared that up. I didn't mean to make it sound like I was saying that it WAS a dinosaur I was just using "Godzillasaurus" as a placeholder for the creature affected by the radiation.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-06-2014 11:56 PMNo, I apologize. I shouldn't be on forums when I'm running on three hours of sleep over the last five days. Words get jumbled and I might say something that doesn't make sense at all.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-07-2014 11:02 AMGigantis is the regenerated surviving cells of the 1954 original that was killed by the oxygen destroyer. No breeding necessary. If there ever was any breeding, it had to be in his non-mutated Godzillasaurus form with an, as yet never revealed, second Godzilasaurus before the Atomic tests. I have a (outside of the box) theory that may explain the paraphysics behind Godzilla's motives. GODZILLA is a GHOST! A poltergeist in fact. A primal spirit that has existed on the Earth since prehistoric times . It's mind is that of a dinosaur that is eternally going through the motions of being a dinosaur. Like the ghost of a soldier who constantly repeats his march across the field of battle upon which he had died. Godzilla's spirit, not knowing that he is already physically dead, believes he is still alive. An Earthbound Spirit trapped within his corporeal form in a flash of Thermonuclear fire! Dinosaurs were the absolute peak of evolutionary life forms on Earth. Their diversity filled every imaginable ecological nitch until, by whatever means, meteoric or otherwise, doomed them to extinction . When a spirit leaves the body, it is usually allowed to "step into the light" to merge with its spiritual source.(Heaven or God) The dinosaurs that were killed by the extinction event, died so quickly that they were deprived of their spiritual transition. Their spirits were thrust into a dinosaurian PURGATORY where the last living memory they had was a flash of bright light and a huge wave of heat, radiation and pain! The Godzillasaurus, one of the last remaining living true dinosaurs, was deprived of its "White Light Spiritual Transition Event." At the time of its death by the intervention of a thermonuclear event! Another event resulting in bright light, searing heat, radiation and pain. Godzillasaur's transition was split asunder and all the SPIRITUAL ENERGY of the Dinosaur PURGATORY poured out of the source and into the body of the irradiated dinosaur. Something along the lines of spiritual demonic possesion! It literaly became the living spirit of ALL the dinosaurs that had died from that explosive extinction event! That is why the mutated form assumed characteristics of of several different types of Dinosaurs. Mixing up T-rex with Stegasaur and Land-based and Aquatic. It's actions may even be influenced by possesion of HUMAN spirits that died in a similar instant and horrible manner. (Nagasaki and Hiroshima!) Perhaps explaining its affinity for Japan. The early speculation that it was a peculiar mix of bipedal carnasaur and armored stegosaur may have been close to right. It is an amalgam of ALL those dinosaurs and more! Its Bodyform is a mixed-up concensus of what all dinosaurs aspired to become. Bigger! Stronger! Impervious to all harm! Because the last, living memory of all those spirits was of light, heat, radiation and pain, they all chose a Bodyform that could not only be immune to these things, but be able to inflict them upon others, in self defense. Thus came into being the Physical form that we refer to as the Classic ORIGINAL Godzilla ! His body is held together, telekineticly, by the will and self-image of those spirits. That is why his body does not conform to, or have the weaknesses of biological entities. He is held together by his thoughts. He insists upon believing He is still alive.

MemberTitanosaurusFeb-07-2014 11:55 AM@MICKING Yeah.......I think I'll stick to self-induced-nuclear-evolution over ridiculous periods of time due to revival after death by nuclear radiation that can't be done in normal biological circumstances and can withstand enormous weights of incomprehensible scale and produce such powerful exotic abilities. With that in mind, there's almost no limit to the size Godzilla, or any similarly-created Kaiju, could have. Of course, there always is a size stabilization point where a particular size fits "just right".

Actually yes, that's an accurate thing to say. I've been to San Francisco plenty of times. It's not exactly a flat city. Within a hundred meters, the elevation can increase or decrease by about 300 feet. The elevation differences on the island alone range to almost a kilometer. The building that everyone uses as "proof" that Godzilla is going to be some absurd height is actually next to a "hill" (not a small hill, mind you, but one about 300 feet tall). This makes it quite plausible that Godzilla is on one of these "hills" and it makes it look like he's bigger than he actually is. Judging by how the camera is angled and moving, and not to mention all of the debris and dust everywhere, it's easy to assume that Godzilla is 700+ feet tall.
I was referring to making the mistake of thinking I read that KaijuGroupie thought that Godzilla was an irradiated dinosaur in the 2014 movie.

MemberBaragonFeb-07-2014 1:52 PMyou know watching that trailer over and over i see how godzilla can be easily mistaken for 700+ feet but the camera angle when the soldiers are coming down easily manipulate us to believe he is bigger than what he actually is so now i am convinced that he is anywhere from 350-400 no taller

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-07-2014 6:36 PM@ BCROCKETT94 - It's nice to see someone paid attention to everything that I posted before in previous forums about Godzilla's size and has a lick of sense. Well done!
Anyway, I have to agree that even with the pituitary gland being enlarged or mutated, it still won't help Godzilla break the laws of physics. He's an impossible creature to begin with, but yes, the 700' height is pure bs and only children without any education on such matters would believe such an argument. Godzilla's height is something which we can debate all day, but the fact is that Gareth Edwards said himself personally in an interview with IGN that he's "the tallest there's ever been, but... just about." He even made gestures with his hands to emphasize the "just about" part of it.
He'll never be 700'+ in height.

WOW! That explanatioin is so crazy, but pretty cool when you think about it. Of course, Godzilla probably wont ever be explained that way, but its a pretty interesting theory.

kaijugroupie84
MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-07-2014 11:28 PM@Kyero, oh, laws of physics? You mean those things that they have to make amendments to every 10 years becuase they discover something new that changes what we already know? The 700 ft tall was just something I had heard from multiple sources, not a fact that I believed. I think it would be pretty stupid if he was actually that big.

GODZILLA HIMSELF
MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-08-2014 1:08 AMi do agree with kyero on the laws of physics part. although pherhaps godzilla oculd be possibe under ridiculously, ridiculously, ridiculously! rare circumstances, but im pretty much sure hes impossibe, and always will be impossible. besides, i sure as hell would not want something that dangerous to be real, as cool as it might look.
