But it's also rumored that Godzilla was an ancient beast that has been around for millions of years and that the bomb "Changed him." Anyways, I think I may have figured out a plausible reason as to how Godzilla got so big in the first place.
If a dinosaur were to get irradiated and grew to a larger size, it's legs would snap under the immense weight and the bones wouls not be able to grow with the rest of the body. However, if the radiation from the bomb affected the Pituitary Gland (also known as the Master Gland that controls enzyme and growth hormone distribution throughout the body) then it could work. Let's say the Godzillasaurus species was an omnivorous species that grew to reach about 25 to 30 feet in height due to island gigantism and an abundance of vegetaion fot them to sustain their larger bodies.
After the bomb drops, the fallout affects the living Godzillasaurus internally and externally causing severe burns and tumors. Those who did not perish and only suffered minor injuries go on to reproduce young. That 2nd and 3rd generation are born with a Gigantism trait caused by the radiation. They are born with an overactive Pituitary gland that causes them to grow to 90 to 100 feet tall. Not as big as the first Godzilla, but still large.
This was simply a theory I came up with that could possibly explain how there are multiple Godzillas in the early Showa series as well as the later Millennium Series, examples include: Godzilla Raids Again and Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla
