As is a tradition the last four years on Godzilla Day, Toho releases a new tokusatsu short film on YouTube and then pulls it after a few weeks for long term branding programing reasons. But just over a week before the 70th Anniversary Godzilla Day, Toho has put last year's short back on YouTube for a limited time.
If you missed it, you can watch it now while it's still up:
Fest Godzilla 4: Operation Jet Jaguar is directed by Kazuhiro Nakagawa. Nakagawa who directed the prior Godzilla Festival shorts: Godzilla vs. Hedorah and Fest Godzilla 3: Gigan Attacks and the upcoming Fest Godzilla 5: All Monsters Showdown. He was an assistant director on the Attack on Titan live action films, Shin Godzilla and Shin Ultraman. Additionally, he directed shorts for Godzilla theme park attractions including, Godzilla vs. Evangelion: The Real 4-D and the zip line attraction, Godzilla Interception Operation Awaji. He's also directed two episodes of Ultraman Z during the pandemic.
Fest Godzilla 5: All Monsters Showdown celebrates King Ghidorah's 60th anniversary using the suit from Godzilla, Mothra & King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001). It will premiere on Godzilla Day, November 3rd, 2024 during a live stream of events celebrating the 70th Anniversary on the Godzilla Channel.
In the meantime, you can watch last year's short, Fest Godzilla 4: Operation Jet Jaguar for a limited time.
