Expect a thread about this soon, but I’m thrilled beyond words that I will be at the premier of this film in Japan! I’ll be sure to share what I see with all of you when I get back to America!

AdminSpaceGodzillaJul-18-2016 11:02 AMVery excited for this. I love the TV spots so far, very creepy in a sense, nothing too revealing at all. Do you think we'll get another full-length trailer before it hits theaters?

MemberBaragonJul-18-2016 1:48 PMMy hype for this movie would admittedly be a lot higher if I had any idea when I'd actually see it, but as it stands with no American release I don't expect to see anything this year.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-18-2016 3:21 PMThat last TV spot is just shiver-inducing. I'm in love with this design and how they've utilized proper camera angles to make Shin-Gojira so terrifying and large. That's on top of his seeming indestructible and un-phasable nature by standard weaponry. So hyped for this movie!

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-18-2016 8:53 PMThese videos easily vindicate, and show the greatness of, the ShinGoji design. IMO, it's one of the best and most fear-inducing of the Series. It's creepy, and certainly not in a silly way, and it's riveting. The upturned claws, the arms and the tail are great, distinctive, character defining features. The height of 118.5 meters just adds to Godzilla's dominance and nightmare-like visage. The semi-silhouette views of him reinforce the idea, artistically, that Godzilla is also a symbol. And it is very satisfying to see purportedly digital effects that look very practical, yet convincing, at the same time. If the visuals in the trailer/TV spots are representative of the SFX/VFX of the film as a whole, then all we need is a moving, exciting and meaningful narrative, convincingly delivered by the cast.

There are ways to pay homage to 1954 without necessarily being part of that universe. It would be a way of saying,"Yes, this is a reboot. But we want to honor that historic beginning, the one that started a genre, a tradition and an art form."
