Last week, we announced seven of the Showa Godzilla films had made it to Youtube. Shout! Factory has acquired streaming rights for Janus Films' (Criterion) Godzilla catalog. In addition to placing the titles on the Tubi (which you can sign up for free of charge), Shout! Factory has uploaded the rest of the Showa Godzilla Series to Youtube! (Sans, King Kong vs. Godzilla.)
Also included is the 1956 Americanized version of Godzilla (1954), Godzilla: King of the Monsters. You can now watch the following titles on both Youtube and Tubi for free--with ads of course. Unfortunately, not all are in the original Japanese language. Titles dubbed in English are noted:
Godzilla (1954)
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (1956)
Godzilla Raids Again (1955)
Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)
Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster (1964)
Invasion of Astro-Monster (1965) [English dub]
Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966)
Son of Godzilla (1967) [English dub]
Destroy All Monsters (1968) [English dub]
All Monsters Attack (1969)
Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971)
Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972)
Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973) [English dub]
Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla (1974) [English dub]
Terror of MechaGodzilla (1975) [English dub]
King Kong vs. Godzilla was not included, given it is still owned by Universal outside of Japan. (Janus Films merely sub-licensed the title for the Showa Era Criterion Collection.) Luckily, Shout! Factory has made up for it by putting Janus Films' other two Toho kaiju titles on Youtube:
Rodan (1956)
War of the Gargantuas (1966) [English dub]
Spread the word. You can now enjoy the original Godzilla era free of charge!
