Joining festivities for Godzilla Day, the original 1954 masterpiece is returning to select Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas this Fall. Godzilla (1954) is the Ishiro Honda classic that started it all, popularizing the tokusatsu special effects style and the kaiju sub-genre. Toho's 4K remaster premiered in the U.S. last year for the 67th Anniversary. Now, for the 68th Anniversary, the same master can be seen November 3rd, Godzilla Day.
You can check out which Alamo Drafthouse locations will be screening the film here. Other locations may be added at a later date.
The original film is not the only Godzilla movie screening on Godzilla Day. Fathom Events will be premiering the first wide screening of Godzilla x MechaGodzilla across the U.S.
Other 68th Anniversary celebration events for the King of the Monsters include:
- Godzilla Festival 2022, streaming online November 3rd
- Criterion's celebration of Ishiro Honda
- Heisei & Millennium Godzilla films streaming on Hulu
- John Carpenter hosting Godzilla and kaiju classic for Shout! Factory
Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to Godzilla Day!
