Mondo has officially revealed their vinyl release for the legendary score to The Return of Godzilla! Scored by Reijiro Koroku, with album art by Henry Abrams, the pop-up vinyl set is only the first of Godzilla soundtracks to be released by Mondo! (Oddly their promo doesn't actually include the music from the film.)
Via Mondo:
“Having previously worked with Studio Ghibli's Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, Koroku was the perfect choice to score the Big G's triumphant return, creating no less than three themes for everybody's favorite kaiju.
Listen to the rumbling low frequencies and powerful brass attacks, as he ravages a power plant and fights the Japanese Self Defence Forces (JSDF), and swoon to the love theme for Maki and Naoko. Koroku also wrote exciting pieces for the JSDF and the Super-X, a particular machine designed to fight Godzilla. Still, it's his respect and reverence for the Big G that makes THE RETURN OF GODZILLA such a success.”
Mondo's Return of Godzilla vinyl will go on sale at 12:00PM CST, Wednesday, November 3rd—Godzilla's Birthday! Numbered gold foil special editions, with 140 Gram “Heat-ray” vinyl are limited to 2500. The retail version is pressed on 140 Gram, recycled eco-vinyl and goes for $30 USD. Make sure to get your copy on Mondo's official website.
