Since Scified did not share a kaiju news recap article for last week, this article will be covering events from the past two weeks. With so much to cover, let's jump right in.
To start off, CAST unveiled two new reissue resin statues from Godzilla vs. Biollante. Both statues were released on June 3rd, with Godzilla 1989 costing approximately $56 and Godzilla/Biollante approximately $93.
Electronics company OPPO revealed a new Ace2 Eva limited edition phone. A variety of additional Evangelion-themed items will also be included with the phone as part of a bundle. There will only be 10,000 units of the phone available, with each costing approximately $616. The phone is available to purchase now from OPPO's website and other retailers.
The new streaming service HBO Max launched, bringing a variety of kaiju films with it. Available for viewing on the platform is the entire Criterion Godzilla Showa Era Collection (minus King Kong vs. Godzilla and All Monsters Attack), War of the Gargantuas, Rodan, The X from Outer Space, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019).
X-Plus announced a new reissue of their 30cm Godzilla (1975) figure. The new version will include a light-up gimmick for the dorsal fins that make it appear as if Godzilla is charging his atomic breath. The figure is scheduled to release in October for approximately $205.
Godzilla vs. Kong has officially been rated PG-13. The rating was given to the film by the MPA for "intense sequences of creature violence/destruction and brief language."
The new Bandai HG D+ Godzilla wave 04 of figures has been fully revealed. The new wave will consist of Godzilla (1994), Spacegodzilla, Moguera, and Little Godzilla. All four figures will be released in September for approximately $5 each.
Diamond Select Toys revealed a new SDCC 2020 Godzilla Gallery: Burning Godzilla PVC Statue. The statue was originally, supposed to be an SDCC exclusive, but will now instead be released through comic shops, Diamond's website, and other select online retailers. You can order your statue now for $70 with a summer 2020 release date.
Two new summaries for Godzilla vs. Kong were released on IMDb. While brief, the summaries convey a lot of new information about the upcoming Monsterverse entry. You can read full versions of both summaries here.
Lastly, two new NECA Godzilla figures were discovered online. The new figures are titled Godzilla 1989 Biollante Bile and Godzilla 2003 Hyper Maser Blast. Both figures are already available for pre-order on select foreign retail sites, and NECA will most likely formally reveal both figures soon.
