LISTEN: Godzilla's original theme song returns in King of the Monsters!

But where's the OG theme?

I had no doubt that the Music Composer for God of War 4 would do the soundtrack justice but this blew me away. 

And this is but a taste of what's to come!

I had my doubts about what McCreary could do, after all I loved the work of Alexandre Desplat in the first one. But this, got me goosebumps!

A Godzilla film never feels entirely complete without the Akira Ifukube's score. 

Also, there seem to be almost like Buddhist monk chanting in there? What does that say about the plot? Linking it to the "temple" of Godzilla?

G. H. (Gman) I think he meant something like what Shin Godzilla did to the original theme. And honestly, I feel the same way as he does.

You mean simply using stock music? Toho's done that for years, even in the Heisei movies Ifukube didn't score. Why wouldn't we want NEW renditions of his theme?

The chanting is coming from taiko drummers--An ancient form of Japanese percussion using massive drums. They're very performance based. McCreary decided to use them to keep the Japanese feel of the music. Here's an example of them doing some light chanting with their drumming (though not nearly as chant oriented as the Godzilla soundtrack):
