It has been reported by Deadline that Legendary wants around a $250 million base payment from Warner Bros. in order to leave Godzilla vs. Kong on it's current hybrid release plan.
This payment value is based on the number that Netflix had previously offered Legendary for the film before Warner Bros. unexpectedly announced that Godzilla vs. Kong would be getting a hybrid release. It has been widely reported that Legendary did not receive any notice of the change prior to the public announcement, despite the fact that they financed roughly 75% of the film.
Legendary was obviously very displeased with this unexpected change, and they have been trying to work out a new deal with Warner Bros. ever since. Only time will tell what/when the two companies will agree on in regards to the upcoming Monsterverse film, but Scified will be sure to share any updates as we get them.
You can view the direct quote from Deadline's new article below.
"Godzilla vs. Kong might stay an HBO Max hybrid in its May 21 slot, but only if Warner Bros makes a deal with Legendary that uses as a base the $250 million value established when the film was shopped earlier to Netflix."
