Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters is the sequel to Gareth Edwards' Godzilla 2014 and the prequel to Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs. Kong which arrives next year in 2020. The presence and acknowledgement of Kong in King of the Monsters should be expected. However, as we lead up to KOTM's theatrical release, any updates concerning a lead in to Godzilla vs. Kong is exciting.
Thanks to character bios showcased on the MONARCH viral website we've learned of at least one reference connecting Godzilla's Dr. Serizawa and Skull Island's Dr. Houston Brooks. Check it out:
In addition to that subtle connection, just like there was a teaser for Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters attached to Kong: Skull Island, a teaser for Godzilla vs. Kong is expected to be attached to the post-credits of King of the Monsters as well.
