This year has proven to be a very lucrative one for the Godzilla franchise. From the opening of Shin Godzilla in Japanese theaters, to the impending arrival of the film overseas, to the recent announcement of a Universal theme park attraction, Godzilla has indeed gone through a resurgence (pun intended!).
Now, news is coming that Toho has registered the domain name “Godzilla-Anime.com”. Although there is little information about what Toho’s plans are for this site, what is known is that the domain name was registered on August 2nd, and that the easiest interpretation of this news is that Toho is planning a Godzilla anime film or television series for the new future!
Although Godzilla has appeared in two American produced cartoon series, there has never been a Godzilla anime series. If, indeed, Toho has plans for an anime, this is incredibly exciting news for fans!
Stay tuned to Scified for more news on this potential Godzilla anime as it breaks!
