Godzilla vs. Kong will now have even more competition when it releases in theaters next year.
Universal has announced that F9 (Fast and Furious 9) has been delayed from April 2, 2021 until May 28, 2021. This new date will pit the film directly against Godzilla vs. Kong, which is currently set to release just one week ealier on May 21, 2021.
With this new development, it appears that the upcoming fourth installment in the Monsterverse will have to fend off yet another rival at the box office. In case you missed it, Marvel's Black Widow was also recently delayed until next May.
Will these new box office shifts cause Warner Bros. to once again postpone Godzilla vs. Kong? To put it simply- we don't know. Next May is still over half a year away, and there's currently far too much uncertainty within the film industry to make any kind of an accurate estimate as to what will ultimately happen with Godzilla vs. Kong.
If any news regarding Godzilla vs. Kong's release date does surface however, then Scified will keep you updated.
