Godzilla Returns to IDW Next Year in GODZILLA: OBLIVION!

2015 has been a huge year for fans of IDW’s stellar series of Godzilla comic titles. Since 2011, the company has provided an unending parade of quality books with amazing stories, breathtaking artwork from some of the finest artists working in comics today, and, of course, loads of monsters and monster fights, to North American fans. This year saw the completion of the now record holding, 25 issue strong Godzilla: Rulers of Earth, and two mini-series: the apocalyptic Godzilla: Cataclysm, and the bizarre and thrilling Godzilla in Hell. However, following the release of the final issue of the latter title, fans were left, for the first time in a long time, with no newly announced IDW Godzilla titles to look forward to. It was unknown just what the company would do next with Godzilla, and so fans began to wait for any news about the King’s return to comics…

Well, the wait is over. IDW has just announced that Godzilla will be returning to comic book shelves this upcoming March, 2016, with a thrilling new mini-series… Godzilla: Oblivion!

Originally titled Godzilla: Worlds End, this new title features the talents of writer Joshua Fialkov (Ultimate FF, Doctor Who) and artist Brian Churilla (Big Trouble in Little China!, TMNT). If the stunning artwork didn’t already give it away, the cover for issue one will be drawn by Godzilla artist extraordinaire James Stokoe, revered for his tour de force mini-series Godzilla: The Half-Century War. The series is to run for 5 issues.

Here’s the plot:

A scientist has created a portal to another dimension -- one where monsters rule supreme! A terrifying expedition begins into a world where hope has died and Godzilla is the unrivalled King of the Monsters. But what happens when a baby kaiju hitches a ride back to the original, monster-less dimension?

Look for the first issue of Godzilla: Oblivion to hit shelves in March, 2016! Preorders open soon.

Be sure to let us know how excited you are about Godzilla’s return to IDW’s lineup next year, and be sure to visit often for more news on Godzilla’s upcoming film, and comic, adventures coming next year!

This is going to be good. IDW has always made great Godzilla comics. From Kingdom of Monsters to Rulers of Earth and even the many mini-series. They are the best in the buisness. A lot of Godzilla coming next year, I can't wait!

I only read Kingdom of Monsters and thought it was pretty bad besides the MechaGodzilla fight at the end. I'm going to read Rulers of the Earth soon still though.

There are things that happen in Godzilla: History's Greatest Monster (I think that's what it is called now) that pretain to Rulers of Earth. Though you need to read it, it would be a good idea.
