Godzilla Anime Sequel Convention Panels Coming Soon

Warning: This article contains spoilers from the latest Godzilla anime film, currently streaming on Netflix.

The sequel to Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters will be making rounds at upcoming Japanese conventions this winter. Netflix released Planet of the Monsters to a world wide audience on January 17th--In the meantime Japan has been gearing up for the anticipated follow-up.

Although the sequel has yet to be given an official English title, sources loosely translate the film, Godzilla: Decisive Battle, Mobile Breeder City. (Others translate it as the more likely, Godzilla: The City Mechanized for the Final Battle.) The sequel has had little more publicity than a vague release date (May) and a teaser poster featuring MechaGodzilla. Very soon, fans will get more information on the upcoming anime feature.

The Official Godzilla Anime Trilogy website has announced that the next film will have a presentation at Winter Wonder Festival 2018. On February 18th, the convention will unveil a model of Godzilla Earth (the 300m Godzilla that surprises Haruo's team at the end of the first film) and various Earth Federation weapons.

On March 25th, Anime Japan 2018 will welcome cast members Mamoru Miyano (Haruo Sakaki), Takahiro Sakurai (Metphies), Tomokazu Sugita (Martin Lazzari), Yuki Kaji (Adam Bindewald), and Junichi Suwabe (Mulu Elu Galu Gu) to talk about the sequel. There is currently no word on whether or not a new trailer will be presented.

We'll update as more information on the anime sequel becomes available.

Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters is currently streaming on Netflix.

The sequel, currently translated as Godzilla: Decisive Battle, Mobile Breeder City, hits Japanese theaters May, 2018.

Good to here. I've been wondering when some info would be released since May isn't that far away.

Sweet. Though, I'm not sure how I feel about the new MechaGodzilla design. It's mostly the head that's bugging me.

Is MechaGodzilla's head backwards or is that what he is supposed to look like? Also, who thinks that we need to see it in motion before we judge its design?

^Yes, that's how it's supposed to look.

In Monster Planet Mechagodzilla didn’t look too bad. The head is the only bad part of the design imo.

The head's understandable, given the Bilusaludo's species quirks. They don't design things without purpose due to their lack of tangible culture beyond utility, as shown in the backstory for the film trilogy.

The strange offshoots may be for channeling weapons, or some other such thing.

^That's what I was thinking. Otherwise their be no reason for MechaGodzilla to have "tusks." Either way, I can't wait to see what it does. While I'm not thrilled with the head I will admit that the overall design of this iteration is pretty cool.

I just want to see it in motion. I wonder due to Godzilla's new revealed size, will they include multiple MG's or do they think 1 will do the trick? I would love to see multiple MG's running around and unleashing hell on Godzilla.
