^Maybe... Lets consider a few things.
First, Polygon Pictures is animating this. They're known for their 3D animation, particularly with Star Wars: Clone Wars and Transformers Prime. So this may not be a traditional anime, but 3D animation.
Next is Shin Godzilla. Although a sequel has yet to be announced, does anyone really think it won't get one? The movie is about to hit $40 million by its 4th weekend and is still #2 at the box office with the highest attendance rate for a Godzilla film in 18 years. It's one of the top 10 highest grossing and highest attended films in Japan this year and climbing. Having a Godzilla TV series with two film series going on risks over-saturation, which, in my opinion, is at risk anyway. (Not that I, as a fan, am complaining.)
Finally, anyone noticed that this movie has a website with a .com and not a .co.jp? I also find it interesting that the title "Godzilla" is in English. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but it insinuates hopes for a much larger reach than Shin Godzilla. Will it even be theatrical? Maybe a Netflix original? Or other streaming? The heavy emphasis on English is something to mull over.
