Not necessarily. The director based the monsters social chain off wolf packs. But they based them off false information on real wolf pacts. The pacts that we’re studied were in captivity which alters their behavior. Real wolf pacts are simply families with the father being the lead. The children eventually grow up and leave to start their own pact while the parents either split to look for other mates or start another one together.
That said, there can be more than one alpha existing in the world. Just like real pacts, there exists more than one. Why would Godzilla control all the monsters? That’s impossible. Kong is an alpha too keeping his monsters in check and protecting them. Godzilla obviously knew the island and Kong existed so he doesn’t care about venturing there and will leave Kong to his business with his monsters. Two alphas can exist, as long as one does not encroach on the other’s territory or members. The one who loses doesn’t lose his position or pact because the pact will defend the leader.
Yeah no. It’s called Godzilla vs Kong. They did this movie before and it was just the two of them as the main focus. We will probably see other monsters, but only in passing like we did in KOTM. Also, I doubt King Kong will bow.
I don’t get why everyone seems to think King will try to take the throne. There are various other reasons why two Alphas would fight. Territory comes to mind. What if Godzilla’s monsters try to make the island their home? Kong will kick them off. There can be more than one alpha running around with their own pack. So it really doesn’t change anything if Kong wins and just stake claim to his home. It’s also possible for Kong to lose but still keep his home if Godzilla starts getting attacked by the inhabitant monsters like an actual pack would do if their head in under attacked.
This should just be Kong and Godzilla fighting it out with a couple scenes of other monsters fighting because they chose their leader.
I don't even want 1 "big bad" I just want them to fight with no other obstacles so the fact there's basically 1 confirmed is something I'm not a fan of, god forbid they have multiple.
KingSalomonMMIV I think we all know who the real "big bad" of the film is going to be, but in terms of the conflict itself, I can't help but wonder if Godzilla is going to be treated as the antagonist here, seeing as how he's the one initially coming to Skull Island and intruding on Kong's domain.
Who knows? Maybe he does win over Kong in the end, but it's treated as a tragic moment for Kong rather than a victory for Godzilla. Especially if my theory of Skull Island being destroyed ends up coming true.
That first blast of Atomfire!
I was shocked to find this out firsthand as I watched Destroy All Monsters on DVD for the first time and the General cried; "Ready Fire!" instead of; "Raunch the Lockets!" as I had been waiting to hear. Of course I'm used to it now but quite a disappointment at first.
BTW, if you don't have any copy of Son of G, I'm pretty sure you can buy a digital release on VUDU for ten bucks, international dub of course.

dk,
Toho has long since confirmed the egg on Sollgel Island was simply the egg of another of the same species. Godzilla just adopted him.
The same goes for the egg in the Heisei continuity.
I'm pretty sure the past two incarnations of Godzilla's "sons" (Son of G and G vs Mecha-G 2) were both instances of eggs of Godzilla's same species being discovered and G bonding with the juveniles by instinct, not because he was the one who actually laid the eggs. That's what I meant too.
Zilla was the only one to start laying eggs himself.
"It's a woooonderful thing to be a Mother!" ~Foghorn Leghorn.
Kong probably isn't the "big bad" of the movie. If you've seen Slull Island, Kong is a friend to nature, and has an understanding / benevolence towards humans (ones who aren't threats to him or the island of course). He's not the antagonist of that film, and most deffinately will not be the antagonist in GvK as well, as it has been confirmed he will have an emotional connectionton with the humans. GvK is not only a Godzilla film, but a Kong film as well.
I see you're speculating a lot (and there's nothing wrong with that), but Kong will not give up his rule over Skull Island, at least not that fast. I can see why you think Kong will take a big beating to Godzilla and have their battle over with, but considering the title and concept of the movie, that won't be the case. If it was, the film would be cheating the audience and would not make nearly enough profit as Warner Bros and Legendary need it to.
Also, although Millie is supposed to be about 12 in the KotM, she was a bit older when it was filmed, and GvK will probably take place around one year after the events of KotM (with the same respect of the time difference between G14 and KotM, as those films took place five years apart from one another, 2014 and 2019).
Millie Bobby Brown was 14 and 15 during the filming of Godzilla vs. Kong. She only turned 16 this past February.
JurassicKaiju14 Good to see you too, comrade! XD
Chris: i would say Muto's and their prime would more than likely be responsible for the death of most of the Titanus Gojira species. the last major Metore strike was the one that caused Antarctica to freeze so that would have been the false king.
Might be a Godzilla figure with parts for MechaGodzilla to show what its finished form will look like in the next monsterverse film, as from the artwork MG dos not look like it is in a finished state.
as to spine damage, Godzilla's healing factor is fast enough to let Godzilla heal from spinal cord damage after The false king dropped him from the edge of earth atmosphere to the ground as if he were some giant plasma/fire breathing turtle. so I do not think his spines are at risk from his thermal pulse, given 3 years have passed since filming KOM miss brown is older now 16 when she was 13 so 3 years have passed sins Kom that is far more than enough time for Godzilla's plates to have healed
the other option is the back thing is a crystalline life form that infects Godzilla, with kong removing it from Godzilla and defending the king from a forming space Godzilla.
I actually like the idea but I think it could cause confusion. I saw no hints from the last 3 movies to suggest this could happen. I personally would let it ride but other harder core fans would likely hate it. 1998 had a similar scenario and I think it even happened way back with a movie I never saw from the 1960s- Son of Godzilla?
Well, I would rather the Female be bigger than the male of the species when it comes to Titanus Gojira. however i feel kong is going to be a bad monster based on the cave painting at the end of KOM which i will include a link to my post of it. the thing is for most titan species ITS VERY VERY HARD TO KILL TITANUS GOJIRA. the false king dropped Godzilla from orbit and he survived the fall and healed from his injuries in about 3-10 minutes (never timed it) that' wolverine and Deadpool level healing speed. however, the only way I see this working is if Godzilla is poisoned with ANEB.
If it really is just under two hours, I'll be happy. I do like slow burn movies, but the Monsterverse Godzilla movies need an improvement on their pace.
Always be honest brother, plus it'll almost certainly never happen onscreen.
Just me searching for a way to take something as horrible as the possibility of losing G and turning it into a cool new way for him to live on.
Ain't gonna work for everybody. but me likey!
Wingard's tweet looks deliberately cryptic- meant to build hype and expectations. He is the most reliable source so far though. That would be expected- it is doubtful any director would tweet that the initial screening was horrible.
I understand. Just thought it was interesting extra bit of info relevant to the article. Definitely more official than one random comment like above. I do remember most of KOTM's screenings being positive, so it's understandable to be cautiously optimistic. Not that I didn't like it, but it could have been significantly better.
I'm not doubting that there's been positive reactions. I'm just saying that this time around I'm going to be more cautious with my optimism.
I'm not too keen on this idea, if I can be perfectly honest.

That could work
https://comicbook.com/movies/2020/02/28/godzilla-vs-kong-test-screenings-receive-positive-buzz/ Adam Wingard seems to be confirming positive reactions for the movie.
AntonioCole Not a bad question, but it's kinda off topic. Maybe make a new thread about it?
Ah, TheLazyFish! So good to see you around these parts again!
Revealing an egg of unknown origin ought to do it, just like in the original.
Keeping it simple sugar.
I pictured the juveniles more like this. Alpha baby came out a bit large.
That's what you get with straight up pen at two AM.

Hmm... so double posting is still a thing. Good to know lol
Yeah, I'm not believing that for a second, for the same reasons listed in the comments. Oddly... I'm finding myself a bit more worried about the film now

Yeah- take it with a grain of salt. I will watch it regardless of what people say on Twitter.
Also, "overwhelmingly"? This is just one guy. I'll be more convinced when I see multiple responses.
I am taking this news with caution. KOTM's test screenings were mostly positive from what I recall, and in spite of my love for the final film, we all know how it went down with a lot of people.
Besides, it seems to me they only let the positive early reactions get out, so make of that what you will.

Great set and artwork. As someone who already owns all the Gamera films on Blu Ray but Gamera the Brave I am little bummed. Hopefully that one gets a solo release that is less than $90 lol
Not bad! Detractors might bring up 1998 though.
