No surprise there. This virus has ruined everything.
I think one of them dies because it says on the poster”One Will Fall” but that’s just my opinion.
I found this VHS in a local dollar store as a kid and fell in love with this movie. Admittedly this movie is much weaker than most of the others still has a charm to it, kinda reminds me of a longer Zone Fighter episode. Megalon's design while a little goofy is still better than Gabara, though I still wonder how he manages with out hands of any sort, at least Gigan has hooks to grab with.
Leto I don't really like this idea, to be honest. I think it should be one or the other, and let it be what it is.
Leto That is an interesting concept, but imagine how raged Kong fans would be if they happened to see the one where Godzilla fries Kong- and vise versa, especially if the version was unannounced. That would be a ballsy move for the movie makers and theaters but the hostilities from fanboys could become its own form of entertainment :D
would like to see rodan get a win against this guy cause rodan needs a win man.
They have to make two endings of the film - in one Godzilla wins, in the second Kong.
And then randomly distribute these versions of films among theaters and the world! Let it be a surprise!
I agree with the OP and many comments here. Maybe thinking in terms of winning and losing is wrong if both survive and have mutual respect. It might be more about a truce. I have no idea how to deal with the Titans though.
Team Godzilla because
"We must keep our faith in Gojira"
"He fought for us died for us he is not only proof coexistence is possible he is the key to it"
-Dr. Ishiro Serizawa
Toho never said they were moving forward with a sequel to Shin Godzilla. A producer only mentioned the possibility of their own Godzilla shared universe.
Even if Kong wins, I’d probably still watch the movies because Gojira would probably still be in it. I just want Gojira to win. As for Monstervesre ending, yes that is probably most likely and for the best. As for moving on, I don’t want another long gap between movies. Toho’s Shinverse is probably not going to happen, and may never come out of development. I’m worried that the release are gonna get pushed again, we all thought the COVID thing would be over by now but it’s still here. But it’s likely the movies will still compete. When this ends, I wonder if we are still going to movie theaters. Movies are just releasing on TV and other media. I also think this push back for G vs K is for the best, as it would give the marketing campaign a good amount of time to release the trailer.
That "good chunk of money" didn't get made with King of the Monsters last year though. As of right now Kong: Skull Island made more money world wide than either of the Monsterverse Godzilla movies. And Godzilla vs. Kong is facing major competition in November from James Bond, Black Widow and a Pixar film opening on the same day. Furthermore, as of at least 3 years ago, Legendary's agreement with Toho ends at the end of 2020.
Things could change, of course, but I'd be happy if this is the last Monsterverse movie and we move on to something else.
I agree. I too want to see a good movie and a good fight, but if the ending is such that Kong wins and it's done in bad taste, where they would even kill off Godzilla, then I personally would have no more interest or Faith in MonsterVerse. How could you have MonsterVerse in the first place without the mighty Lizard! Lol Let's be practical. There's two big fan bases to both these Titans. That's a good chunk of money the Movie producers, writers, directors, etc can make by keeping both of them alive and keep both fan bases interested enough to keep coming back to MonsterVerse, regardless of who’s the winner. (Just keep both of them alive!) I just pray they get it right!
G. H. (Gman) "I have suspicions this will be the last Monsterverse movie anyway, so no worries there.
Personally, I don't care who wins as long as the movie's good."
Same here, honestly. Personally I'm rooting for Godzilla, but if Kong wins then I'm not gonna throw a hissy-fit over it unless the way it happens is really stupid or something. But even then, I won't necessarily scream my rage about it over the forums. We have too much of that in this world as it is.
I think that if the movie is good, and makes a lot of money, then MonsterVerse will definitely continue.I just want Godzilla to win.
I have suspicions this will be the last Monsterverse movie anyway, so no worries there.
Personally, I don't care who wins as long as the movie's good.
Indubitably he'll at least fall with style at some point in the comic. :P
I wonder can he actually fly, those wings look broken
I like the horns, he doesn’t look like Megaguirus any more
Looks awesome.
Does that fighter pilot look like Annie Lennox? LOL
Gojira has to win. Kong already did.
Good point. Not sure about that. I always thought Skull Island belonged to Kong, but I could be wrong. So far the only monsters I have seen on skull island is skull crawlers, a giant octopus and some average sized dinosaurs. Oh, and a giant spider? Lol The definitive winner thing is driving me crazy too! Again, if Kong is too win, then the writers better get it right, cause if not, I will totally divorce MonsterVerse!
Awesome. And he has an army of bats at his command too? Huh. I wonder if those are Psychovultures or some new species.
I am wondering if he crushed something between his hands.or is just stretching out his fingers.
If Godzilla rules the Titans, isn’t Kong’s turf actually Goji’s. I don’t want Kong to win either. The definitive winner thing is killing my brain. I just noticed something. Gojira sounds more natural than Godzilla to me.
I wonder what Godzilla will look like after seeing this
That goes without saying.
These pics look like they're from the upcoming graphic novel which is to introduce Titanus Camazotz. Now, if Legendary will give us a release date for that I'd be a happy man.
I’m more interested in the giant tiger monster.
^Yes. Kong looks sweet sporting that beard
I move that we call Kong's beard the Ninth Wonder of the World. Can I get a second on that?
The dumb Ghidorah, look at its eyes. Everything else is fine.
The third film's message was about healing the bonds of family, and to some extent returning to society something I can relate to as I was that kid who skipped school some of it is I started having panic attacks in crowds some of it because my K-12 experience was FUBAR and not something I like to talk or think about.
To me, the films were meant to be a bit more light-hearted than the Heisei era Godzilla films as they were geared more towards younger audiences well the Heisei Godzilla films were geared more toward older fans well still being family-friendly enough for kids to enjoy.
overall ya the films are cheesy but the fact that I own the Bluray box set and them on Itunes shows I enjoy watching them them from time to time.
Oh yeah... that's hot.
I'm always down for a good figure of my favorite–GAH! WHAT'S WITH THE THIGHS?!
UPDATE 05/19/2020:
Who knew I'd be updating this three years later? The box office success of Shin Godzilla continues!
Oricon reports that of May 15th, select theaters reopened from the coronavirus pandemic in 11 prefectures. The theaters are showcasing past box office hits in Japan. Shin Godzilla is among the titles.
Although there's currently no admissions numbers, Kogyotsushin and Eiga.com Shin Godzilla returned to Japanese theaters at #6. It was only one of three movies in the top 10 that wasn't released in the last 6 months. It beat out Birds of Prey & Midsommar and the anime classic, Akira.
Here's the top 10 as of this past weekend:
1. The Real Exorcist (new release)
2. Weathering With You (2019)
3. Parasite (Dec. '19)
4. Not Quite Dead (2020)
5. Your Name. (2016)
6. Shin Godzilla (2016)
7. Birds of Prey (2020)
8. Yayoi, March: 30 Years That I Loved You (2020)
9. Akira (1988)
10. Midsommar (2020)
Remaining prefectures will reopen their theaters at the end of May. More as it develops.
Not connected to toho at all, unlike Ultraman, with was part of
Tsuburaya Productions, which has ties to Toho. Therefore I highly doubt he will be rebooted
I honestly don’t hate any Kaiju introduced at any time. (That’s a lie, Zilla and Gabara fill me with rage.) Megalon, I’ve never thought of him as uncreative or a knock off. I just don’t have an opinion.
I hope we will get some photos soon
