as a fan of the old school games i would love to see BAGAN back for a new godzilla game but as far as any idea of a new game i believe one of these companies will do the godzilla game like that of peter jacksons king kong where you play as a human then play as the monster but i could be wrong the fighting game style everyone is referring to is getting to be like mortal kombat except with giant monsters

Very true, but his indie/foreign film credits far outweigh his Oscar/blockbuster credits. Not that this is a bad thing. Edwards comes from the same place, quite literally-- Jumping from the indie world to the blockbuster. So it sounds like the two will really understand one anothers language, which is very important. I do need to give Mr. Desplat's Zero Dark Thirty score a chance. As it stands I really enjoyed his stuff for The Ides of March and Harry Potter the most. Those are at least the most accessible.

I wouldn't exactly call him indie. As Kaijusaurus pointed out, he's done films like Zero Dark Thirty, Argo, and Harry Potter. He's done a lot of movies that were nominated for Oscars, as well as having his Fantastic Mr. Fox score nominated. Listening to music off his official site, I'm excited to say that his stuff doesn't sound all similar. As good as John Williams is, since he's done so many movies, his material started to sound the same. I like Mr. Desplat's Zero Dark Thirty score. It is dark, and I actually like the track he uses on his site. The pulsing and dragging strings, the dark sounding horns. It's not exactly what I would use as Godzilla's theme but it's got a very similar element to what I would like to hear in the movie.

Before people get their panties in a bunch about the fact Desplat composed Twilight, lets remember there are plenty of great composers who have composed terrible films: Hans Zimmer - The Lone Ranger, Broken Arrow, The Holiday...etc... Brian Tyler - Dragonball: Evolution, Alien vs. Predator: Requiem John Williams - Star Wars prequels Jerry Goldsmith - Star Trek V, Small Soldiers, Rambo III Just because he did Twilight doesn't mean he's a bad composer.

Cool. I might revisit it myself. It'll be easier to watch with a busy schedule. I won't spoil who, but some of the favorite kaiju from older series make a return. There were a couple episodes that I really liked too. Max really is one of the better marriages of both old-school feeling and newer effects (better budgets). And if I remember correctly, Shusuke Kaneko, director of the new Gamera trilogy, has a few director credits in the series.

We already have a game idea topic up, but for those interested in the type of game above, check out my game idea, and the others too. Mine is really good. *Shameless self promotion!* I am thinking of adding some possible DLC content to my idea. I know it's a lot to read but take a few minutes to check it out you might like it

Dr. Professor Kaiju ManGodzilla ForumWould you like to see a new Godzilla vs. King Kong movie?
Nope, nope, and uh... did I mention nope? As much as I like that movie, I say nope. I just think Godzilla and Kong should stay in their own universes from now on. I never really liked Kong much anyways. If they did make one, however, I'd still see it and be excited about it.

Interesting choice. Not too surprising, I guess, considering the rest of the crew is practically from the indie world. I'm sure he'll turn in a fine score.

Hmm... I think I might give Max a world. While I love continuing story lines I'm all for the monster-of-the-week formula. I thought it worked beautifully in the original Ultraman. The multiple form stuff kind of gets old for me...

one thing those fighting style games lack is the size of godzilla. it's one of the reasons I love the movies so much. We need a game that shows just how massive he is. That's why I think we need a game where you control a human. I just think it would be so awesome to be walking around a field or a street in first person view and then have a giant foot stomp down right next to you and to be able to look straight up and see godzilla, as if you were standing next to a skyscraper.

If you look at the list of legendary pictures movies it will have Godzilla (of course). click on it and travel to the synopsis. Below that it will list the crew that helped. at the very end it says "The score is being created by Oscar- Nominated composer Alaxandre Desplat (Argo, The Kings Speech)".

well i been to the site and no where does it say anything regards to an announcement for composer. i been trying to get confirmation. I checked on IMDb for Alaxendre Desplat and nothing listed him as composer unless there is another Alaxendre Desplat and Legendary Facebook page does not have anything either. if you can find and post the link please do so that says Legendary did announce it.thanks

I also think they should stick to fighting...Preferably i would like them to remake the classic NES Godzilla Game (Godzilla: Monster of Monsters) where there is Fighting but there is also in between levels where you fight non-monsters while you make your way to the next fight... BUT. 1)Have a reputable company to handle everything... 2)Focus on making the physics and effects good.. 3)Make sure that each monster is correctly detailed( Design,Powers,Moves) 4)Bring it to Next-Gen consoles. 5)Make the Boards/Levels a good enough size... Take inspiration from some of the past popular video games of this franchise like: 1)Godzilla: Save The Earth.. 1)Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee.. 3)Godzilla Unleashed.. 4)Godzilla: Monster of Monsters..

@GMAN2887 Max is a decent send-back to the original Ultraman series, in a creature of the week formula and only having a singule form, but I always felt of the original series that while it was cool it was overly simple, especially when compared to most of the series that follow, Ultraseven is good. As far as other recommendations, it depends on what type of Ultraman you like. If you like multi-form Ultramen, I would say Mebius or Tiga, the original multi-form Ultraman. If you prefer the showa series Ultramen, I'd go with Ultraseven! and Leo. From the little snippets of Ultraman Ace and Taro I've seen, they're a little more campy. Avoid Powered and Towards the future, they were non-japanese produced shows, and the lack of experience really shows via effects. Not to mention the acting is terrible.

@Goji62 True, he didn't specify if he was talking about the new American film or the Japanese series. I assumed he was talking about it based on the connection he made between suit acting and motion capture. Gfan84 seemed to assume the same thing, so I ran with it.

well since in my opinion this is the actual first godzilla film in 10 years and since TOHO was involved with the production of this film and since everything had to be approved by TOHO first i believe this is their first actual godzilla film that will have probably even more CG SPECIAL EFFECTS TO THAN GAMERA 3 already has im still anxieous about this film can not wait for the full length trailer or any trailer to be released

Who was talking about the Japanese? lol. America's CGI effects are state of the art and America has the license so it could be used over here when making future Godzilla sequels.

This movie is going to have nothing to do with any of the previous films. Plus, it would be 60 years later, in San Francisco.

I wouldn't say Japanese CG effects are necessarily behind, but a lot of Japanese studios never allow a lot of time to polish their CG effects. But I've seen some incredible CG shots from the Ultraman movies and Gamera 3 had some amazing CG shots. I guess the difference is that Tsuburaya (company who produces Ultraman) specializes in only special effects movies/tv and the Gamera trilogy generally had a more talented team than the recent Godzilla movies. Toho has a policy that all movies must be done in a year's time and that kind of rush job is going to be reflected in their films-- especially special effects movies. Also, remember the Japanese film industry is only about a quarter the size of America's. I suspect manpower and demand would have to increase massively for things like motion capture to become the norm. That said, I don't think Toho is going to produce another Godzilla movie for a long time, if ever again. They tore down the massive pool used for water scenes ten years ago, the millennium series didn't do too well at the box office, Final Wars was a huge flop and with their partnership at Legendary, they're clearly hoping that other studios will do the hard labor for them. Perhaps this will change one day, but there's no sign of them doing it in the near future.

japanese CGI effects are a little behind the times so it wouldnt look that great, they dont put a whole lot of budget into the're movie's especialy considering they put out one GODZILLA movie a year to wich im hopeing they'll start doing again.

^I think we'll see the full design long before this book comes out. Truthfully, copying Tri-Star/Sony's Godzilla ad campaign would be a mistake. The design still needs to be sort of a surprise, but it shouldn't be the ridiculous secret that it was made out of 15 years ago.

G. H. (Gman)Godzilla ForumDid anyone not mind my film from 1998?
Although I don't share the same sentimental gratitude that InstinctiveGigan has for it, I am grateful for some things this movie did: I was already a Godzilla fan when GINO, or Godzilla '98, was released. Even though it's something of a stain on the Godzilla series it did expose more of the franchise to the North American fanbase. The Heisei Godzilla series (after Biollante anyway) was finally released during this time and we were given a lot of great merchandise like the Random House books...etc... It also prompted Toho to revitalize their Godzilla series. Although fans are fairly split on how the Millennium series turned out, it was nice to get another set of Godzilla films that were true to the spirit of the franchise--unlike GINO.

Knowing Warner Bros, there will be two versions of this book. The one where every pic with Godzilla in it is censored, and the one that isn't that comes out after the movie. Seriously tho, MUST BUY!

Okay, this has gone on long enough. You do realize us staff can see your IP addresses right? All three of you share the same IP address, to each and every digit. You post the exact same topics, you use the same slang when you type and you were even dumb enough to send me a PM from EACH of your "accountS" asking the exact same thing. Duplicate.. and especially TRIPLE accounts are majorly against our forum rules. You have clearly not read any of our terms of use or posting rules / guidelines. You can't plead ignorance either because the last time you posted bullshit topics about anti-religious debates, I told you to cut it out and that if you continued, you would be banned. You feel the need to publicly inflame discussions and annoy people, then I will publicly let you know that you're moronic attempts to troll have come to an end. We're a fairly lenient and forgiving community, but if you can't control yourself and continue to ignore staff requests, then you will not be welcome on this forum or any forum on our network. You and your three accounts will be put on suspension following this post. If you feel the need to make a new account, and continue this trollish behavior, we will then take further steps to prevent you from even visiting this website all together. I can't stand immature tools who ignore our VERY simple rules and try to get a rouse out of people. This forum is built for true fans of the franchise, not so you can clutter it with your anti-religious garbage. There's plenty of other forums on the internet, go bug one of them and leave this place for genuine discussions between mature individuals. Thank you, and goodbye.
