No, it's not going to happen, and that's because a baby Godzilla wouldn't fit in with the atmosphere of the movie at all. Not to mention that Legendary only bought the rights to Godzilla, not Little Godzilla/Baby Godzilla/Minilla. Godzilla isn't going to die in this movie.

Personally I hope so! To add an interesting twist to the story, and to shake the Godzilla universe, the child would be a female Godzilla. Say that, if it grew into adulthood, would be even more dangerous than its male counterpart (hence the need to protect it from the humans and other monsters).

Gareth kept talking about throwing realism into it so I don't see it having that much power honestly. More like a fume that was present in the early Godzilla movies rather than a supercharged blast that appeared later.

There is no way Toho will give the rights to Godzilla over to Disney! Sure they bought the rights to Marvel but those movies are just live action comic book movies, they're supposed to be fun and geared towards kids, Godzilla is NOT supposed to be fun. I believe the reason Toho gave the rights to Legendary is because they produce many serious and badass movies like Man of Steel and 300. If this movie does great, which in my opinion will kick The Amazing Spiderman 2 in the ass, Legendary will keep making more Godzilla movies and hopefully bring back more classic Toho monsters like Ghidorah, Mothra, Mechagodzilla, etc.

Gills would be detramental to Godzilla as seen in GMK. His breath travled the path of least resistance which happened to be a hole in his neck. Godzilla is so big because of the radiation from the nuclear energy, the same thing happend to Rodan.

Godzilla is also able to hybernate just like King Caesar that's why his able too survive for so long because he saves energy & I believe Godzilla does eat, his favorite food is fish :P

I love how you are stating what he will and will not be as though you've seen the movie or have some knowledge that the rest of us don't. This is a new imagining of Godzilla, he could pretty much be anything; don't make a post as though you know for a fact what he is going to come from.

Unless its somehow modeled in a fashion similar to a daddy long legs. Where the legs are somewhat dissproportionate to the rest of its body.....which would make sense in the case of mutation....hmmm.

possabilities in my opinion for godzilla before being mutated:

1. an unknown type of dino, specifically a new kind of lizard-hipped dinosaur, this is because he has both features of therapods and sauropods.

2. an unknown kind of rauisuchian, these were not crocodiles exactly, infact they appeared like a hybrid of dinosaurs and crocodiles, kind of like the new godzilla.

let it be noted that dinos, rauisuchians, and crocodiles are all archasaurs

theories about the gills-

1. realistically, reptiles do not have gills. these so called gills may actually be overlapping scales of armor that provide toughness, but still allow for flexability because they can slide over one another.

2. if they really are gills, godzillas mutation could have rendered them vestigial(although they could be repurposed to push out energy an let him swim faster or to help direct his ray). this would fit with godzilla because he has never needed gills, he can even survive in space, not just water. this is actually not unheard of in nature. water-bears(tiny creatures, not really bears) can survive in the vacum of space.

@ALFOK, I think Slattern might be too big in that size comparison picture. 181 meters puts him at over twice the height of Gipsy Danger. In the movie, he is not nearly that tall. I think that 181 meters might be his length instead of height. Not trying to be mean or anything, I just thought he looked a little exaggerated next to poor little Otachi haha.

space godzilla could be a godzilla from another universe or something along those lines that is further developed than godzilla and maybe has galactus/unicron like behavior. or maybe godzilla has something( a play off of regenerator g-1 pherhaps) that spacegodzilla doesn't and now spacegodzilla is after it.

as i have stated on various discussions, the largest godzilla so far was in marvel comics. he was 150 meters, so the new godzilla will have to be bigger than that, somwere over 500 feet basically.

The design isn't perfect but then no design would be.  Everyone seemed to have their own idea about how Godzilla should look.  I know not every detail is how I would prefer but it's not like the small things everyone is complaining about would change Godzilla or the movie for that matter, and it could have been made a lot worse.  With that said I'm satisfied with the design.

I agree, but I have my own opinion. The design says "GODZILLA" but the gills and everything. i mean the feet are fine, but the gills though! It's been 28 films (not counting 1998) and has Godzilla ever had gills? Godzilla probably has a breathing mechanism in his nose that allows him to breath under the ocean And the real question is "what good is to have it now?"

Im not sure if that blue toy in pieces is really the final design, could be a fan prototype who really knows.

I genuenly Like the new desing it looks very modernish I actually do like that he has gills, it makes more sens of how he can breath under water now.

At first i did had some lack of likeness on the foot wish the toes could be a little longer, but when I look at it now it does not bother me as much as it did before.

when you watch the trailer's ending scene and the foreground buildings, you can gauge a size reference off his longest spine fin which i estimate at 6 floors high or around 18 metres ( almost 20 yards ) if ALFOK's post as a guide using our new measurement, we arrive at an estimated ball park figure of 145-150 mtrs.  awesome !
