godzillafan1995Godzilla 2014 Forumif godzilla were to die in the new series

symbolically in GvsD godzilla never dies, because if one godzilla does die anouther takes it's place, when 1954 godzilla dies he was replaced (although 30 years later in the Heisei godzilla's case) by a new godzilla, when heisei godzilla died in his meltdown he was replaced by his son, who was revived by the 'enormous' radiation emmited by his farther and was able to continue his legacy. if godzilla does die then it should end 1. humanity finally learns their mistakes and lessons and improve the way they treat the earth to avoid creating more monstrocities or 2. godzilla died but anouther godzilla comes along to contnue his legacy and continue punishing humanity.

again really the writers, producers and directors make the decide, they decide if godzilla can or cannot survive a nuke(ground zero explosion or outside the explosion) they decide if humans have any capability to comabt godzilla, they decide if godzilla can go critical if he absorbs too much nuclear energy, they decide if he can even bleed. thats the power writers, producers and directors have when it comes to completly fictional chacters like godzilla, spideman, the xmen, hulk and other fictional charcters.

also if the original dark gojira is rated UK rating PG (which is the equivilant of US PG-PG13) then there is no reason for this movie to not be PG13, it's the best and most smart choice. if you want this film to do succesfully then it has to be PG-13. also to have a r rating the movie has to have a lot of swearing.

Are we seriously STILL discussing this?

I feel like such a jerk for being 'mean' about this, but the 'r rated godzilla film' assumption is easily the silliest one I've ever heard. That is in a mountain of gigantic, incredibly silly assumptions made about this film. There have been a lot, and yet this one still floats to the top of the pile everytime.

1. making it r would cut out a large majority of potential audiences

2. really the tone of the movie is not the factor of making a movie dark

3. r rated movies normally include human gore/blood and especially nudity (no godzilla movie will ever have this)

4. why would you market a movie for kids with toys if they aren't even allowed to watch the movie, parents would find that really stupid

5. critcs and general audiences are going to be really confused and possibly fustrated.

i don't want to go to a cinema to watch godzilla and be asked for I.D, seriously why. they are going to expect to get a lot of money from this, they know that godzilla appeals to kids and that there are fans who are under 17.

if this movie is rated r then it has NO CHANCE against TASM2 and XMEN:DoFP

My personal opinion, Godzilla's meltdown is probably his most disrespectful death. Its lonesome, its boring, and its just sappy.

I don't understand the love of seeing Godzilla go all wicked witch.

I'd much rather see him explode-- but that is just me.

And as far as Godzilla dieing, he never dies anyway, so why does it matter? He always comes back or theres some kind of hint at the end of the film that he isn't the 'only one'. So I really don't think its an issue.

As far as Godzilla survivng a nuke, if we are talking Godzilla in general, he has survived an asteroid strike, swam through magma, and so on and so forth.

Godzilla's death has always been superficial, or done away with in sequels. Its not anything to worry about, I can honestly say the first film was the only time I think they really, genuinely wanted him dead-- until the cash flowed in and they made a sequel.

So in the end, the all mighty dollar is the ultimate Godzilla fuel and it'll decide if he 'dies' or not.

yea radiation can do what ever it wants, but godzilla is completly fictional, the writers can do what ever they want with him, godzilla can never exist, they can make some features realistic because it may make it better but too much realism is not necessary, i dought they will kill him with a nuke, also one nuke's radiation is not going to cause godzilla to go critical, in GvsD the island that godzilla and godzilla jr were on had uranium depsoits under the island, there must have been a lot as the entire island was destoryed proably more than the power of modern nukes as godzilla did survive. again scientific logic does not work with godzilla, no matter how realistic you want him, he is pure fiction, TOHO knew this thats why they had humans use ultra -futreistic and totally impossible weapons weaponry like: the oxygen destoryer, mechagodzilla, masers and laser tanks, freezer weapons, nuclear feeding bacteria, and the blackhole gun. the black hole from the dimension tide may not have been as powerful as a real black hole but it was powerful enough to cause a nuke sized crater. also that meteor explosion from FW did hit godzilla because 1. godzilla was in the centre of a huge crater, even if he wasn't in the actaul explosion it was a big explosion and the didn't get affected by the shockwave.

The film production was called Nautilus under Nemo Productions, which is of course-- a code name. The code name itself is more of a reference to  Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, a novel by Jules Verne.

What this has to do with anything is subjective-- honestly I think it was done impart as a cute reference to old Godzilla King of the Monster trailers in which they claim that the film is "More Fantastic than anything ever written by Jule's Verne".

But I could be wrong.

Lest we forget the working title of Cloverfield was "Cheese" until they released more info about it. I didn't see one slice of cheese in that movie Not even cheese dip at the party in the beginning. KYERO makes a good point. The only other feature length film Gareth directed was monsters and while they were indeed cephalopod like monsters you can't go based on one film alone. However maybe he does like using that as a monster design and may incorporate it into Godzilla, so at the same time I can't say KYERO is totally correct either. We simply don't know enough about Gareth or his directing style to judge that. The whole point of my comment was basically about the title Nautilus and how that is definitely no way to judge one aspect of an entire film.

The Brazilian poster was for a liscencing exposition to showcase early designs of Godzilla to encourage other comanies to create merchandise for the film.

It was never relevant to the final design of Godzilla, contrary to popular opinion.

(Though I do think they should have stuck with that design because it's far superior to the one in the trailer in my opinion. The more upright posture and thinner neck are much more like classic Godzilla to me, though I can live with the design they've chosen.)

KyeroGodzilla 2014 ForumA (Entirely Unnoticed) Clue Regarding What the MUTOs Look Like.

Aaaaaaand your point METALJAZZFUNK is... what exactly?

Do you have proof to back up your opinion? Perhaps an interview with a member of the Legendary crew who worked on the project and knows what the MUTOs will look like?

No?

I didn't think so. The title of the film being "nautilus" during its pre-production and production phases means nothing in regards to the final product. There's no reason to believe that the MUTOs will look like anything from Gareth's previous works. After all, it's only one movie. If Gareth had made twenty films and used the same designs over and over again, then yes, we'd have reason to believe it. But the fact that it was only one movie which used such designs means nothing in regards to this film.

If there is a sea going "nautilus" type MUTO in this film, then pat yourself on the back for an extremely lucky guess. Otherwise, stop trying to pretend you know something that everyone else doesn't. Your choice of words and phrasing make it sound as if you think you know something for a fact when it's just your opinion.

And KAIJUUFIN, that movie doesn't prove anything. Whatever it is in that tiny snippet of the trailer has not been confirmed as a head at all. It could be any part of the MUTO for all we know. A foreclaw, a leg, a mouth, anything. Nothing is confirmed just because you think you see something. When I watch that in the trailer, I turn up the brigtness to max and I see no eyes at all, just a small shadow under an uneven lump of flesh or wahtever its skin is made of. I have the trailer in 1080p on my desktop and I've slowed it down an obscene amount of times to get the best look possible and even froze the frame altogether.

No eyes.

Nothing about that snippet has been confirmed, so please stop trying to help spread the rumor that there has been. Unless you as well have proof to back up the opinion such as confirmation from a Legendary crew member who put the trailer together, don't speculate fact when it's your opinion. It's a disservice to all your fellow G fans to do so.

KyeroGodzilla 2014 Forumif godzilla were to die in the new series

@ JORDANSWICKARD - A nuclear blast would kill Godzilla plain and simple. He feeds on radiation, but what you're forgetting is that as a mortal creature his body has limits to the amount of power it can absorb safely before it overwhelms him and kills him.

A nuclear blast would kill him regardless of whether or not he feeds on radiation. As I've said so many times before, radiation doesn't just do what you want it to. A blast as powerful as a nuclear bomb would overload even his capacity and kill him on the spot even if the initial blast didn't.

Why?

Was Godzilla at ground zero during the dropping of the nukes? No, he wasn't. He was exposed to minute fractions of the overall radiation output of the nuke, and thus he was created from a much weaker level than many people give him credit for. As such, his capacity will be much lower than many people give him credit for which is why when Godzilla moves about you don't hear about long lasting radiation levels in any movie aside from the original and Godzilla vs. Mothra. His radiation levels are not at a level which would immediately kill anyone, as proven by the fact that Dr. Yamane and others were able to walk through Godzilla's footsteps and survive just fine through to the end of the movie without any visible consequence.

The amount of radiation a nuke puts out, especially at ground zero, would be far too much for Godzilla's body to handle.

Long story short, it would kill him. That's not an opinion, it's a fact. Even taking in his ability to absorb radiation, it wouldn't save him. A nuke does not equal more energy for Godzilla. It equals death.

@ LINKZILLA - I don't mean to sound aggressive or mean in any way, but... Are you kidding with that explanation? Godzilla's body is not a nuclear bomb. Even if Godzilla were to go out with a bang, it wouldn't equal the force of a nuclear explosion for the same reasons why he wouldn't survive a nuke in the first place. He was created by radiation levels that were MUCH lower than the levels a nuke is actually capable of producing initially. The power of a nuclear bomb goes far beyond Godzilla, and even if his body were to explode for any reason, it would not be a nuclear blast. Not even close.

As for the actual topic at hand.

If Godzilla does die anywhere in the series, it's not going to be from an oxygen destroyer because that's pure fantasy and doesn't fit the realism of Legendary's vision. It likely won't be at the hands of a nuke either, as the world's governments are too cowardly to use them now that they know what they can do after dropping them on Japan. You think the US government, even if it's a movie, would have the gall to drop one on their own soil just to try and take care of Godzilla when they don't know if it would work or not? Not a chance.

If Godzilla does die, it'll have to be at the hands of either another monster or by his own power turning against him like it did in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah.

Godzilla is being portrayed and likened to a force of nature. He is not actually a force of nature, contrary to popular opinion. Anyone who's arguing that he needs to be stopped by another force of nature because 'he is a force of nature' is only fooling themselves and basing their opinion off of misinterpretation and miscommunication which are the two primary sources of all the false rumors and predictions we've seen throughout the last few years leading up to the release of this movie (and any kind of rumor anywhere about anything really).

In short the most likely reasons for Godzill'a death will be the forces which created him in the first place: Radiation.

Radiation is a force which is naturally degrading into nothing over a very long period of time due to the fact that it's unstable. It cannot sustain itself, and if an unstable force like radiation is the source of Godzilla's power, guess what that means for the Big-G? Godzilla vs. Destoroyah went a little overboard and delved into fantasy with the critical mass thing, but they had the basic concept correct. Godzilla's own power will inevitably be his downfall eventually if nothing else destroys him first.

Now, when it comes to Godzilla's possible size in this, 350 feet, although it fits the description of being "only slightly the tallest Godzilla", it does sound a bit small when you look and say it, but I theorize that if this Godzilla does indeed hunch over a bit when walking normally, and if he can in fact stand fully straight, that could another 20-40 feet of height overall.

Now, for the 1954 part, since there are scenes taking place in it, I assume similar settings from the original film will indeed be used. Also, completely speculative here, but based on how that leaked script from a few months ago went, it could mean that our Godzilla here is the same one from 1954, but in an alternate universe where the attack never happened in full. Or something like that. Again, purely speculative here.

Finally, leading off of that previous statement, since Watanabe plays a modern Dr. Serizawa, if the idea I had holds credence (which it likely doesn't), then this one could be a descendant that never existed in the original universe.

Once again, this is all just speculation on my part.

I guess I'm in the minority. When I first heard about this movie my first thought was "omfg..." My second thought was "how bad ass would it be if he fought king ghidora?"  To me this movie represents a new beginning, back to basics godzilla. i want to see the original foes...the ones I grew up with as a kid...KG, anguirus, rodan (I'm not sure if Mothra would work)

seeing those guys in a serious, realistic, big budget American film would make me feel like a 10 year old again.

Id like to imagine that theyre going to leave somesort of hint at the end which implies that Godzilla is still alive but not quite, so that if they can make a sequel, they can follow off from this movie and not create a whole new story to bring him back.

Like at the end of King kong vs Godzilla, they both fall into the sea, Kong rises but you don't actually know if Godzilla was killed or not. Its not very likely that he would have died, perhaps he swam away and Kong was attempting to swim after him - thus why he swam out to sea for some reason. But anyway they should keep it mysterious at the end I think.

i would like a cameo or some kind of homeage to king ghidorah, but not a full appearance, at least not for a long time, hes overused. a homage to destroyah or even just destroyah with a modified backstory would look sooooo epic. i think that a bit farther down the road, a revamped space godzilla could be cool. he could be like some godzillla from another universe and have a sort of galactus behavior to him, also i would replace the cristals with bone and replace any pinkish colloration with i dunno, red i guess. i also think titanasaur, anguirus, and maybe rodan have potential. as for mothra, i never understood why people liked it, even the g fans. i dunno, maybe theres something i need to see, but right now(no offense to mothra fans) i really hate the whole concept of mothra, its among the cheesiest ever and i don't think general audiances would think mothra would be cool. however what i could see happen with mothra is this; say that at some point in the new series there are aliens, mothra, battra, and maybe ghidorah and ceaser, could be their  dieties or sommething like that.  i also love the idea of biolante making a comeback.  in the end i think that if they use any monsters from toho that they will be the underused ones like biolant, titanosaur, destroyah(god i hope so) and so on.

It's obvious that people are a little sick of King Ghidorah, but I think he'd be the most interesting to see what big budget Hollywood could do with. He's a monster from outer space, you can do so much with that, hell, he doesn't even need to be on Earth. While I agree thta he has been slightly overused, I think he deserves his own movie without being under the shadow of Godzilla or Mothra.
