Good lord. It took Maleficant, 300: Rise of an Empire and the recent Spider-Man and Transformers Super Bowl trailers 3 to 5 days to hit those kind of numbers. I know a lot of us are rewatching the trailer a lot, but G-fans aren't that big in numbers. Pretty damn good.
TADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WANT! MUST HAVE! TAKE MY MONEY! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've never seen this magazine at any news stands or ANYWHERE near me! I sure hope I can find it! Thank goodness this cover is coming out for those who aren't subscribers! Its every bit as awesome, in my opinion!
What the HECK?! O_o Good eye! This film is getting more layered and complex with every new reveal! It looks like they are freshly dead, so the question is... how did they die, and why there? Maybe they are an opposing strike force that got taken out, but are they the military or possibly M.U.T.O. scientists? Maybe they took off their helmets and got a lethal dose of radiation? Something insane is going on that links the kaiju to humanity, and also possibly pits two factions of humanity against each other, but what that is remains a mystery. We probably won't find out until the movie comes out. Thank God for the pause button! Without the ability to stop and analyze the heck out of this trailer, we'd all be going nuts right now!
Excelent find! :)
Oh, WOW. Awesome find! What the hell could be going on in this trailer?!?!? Jeez. How are they going to fit all of this in 2 hours?! at max 2:43! (That's the maximum length for an imax film)
Great Image! Oh man, I can't wait for the S.H. Monster Arts rendition of that beast :-)
I also like how they are releasing a MEGAZINE to go along with it, supposedly 30% bigger than the standard issue (not in length or number of pages, but in physical SIZE)
Did you see one of the jets coming straight down at the screen from the sky? Some people online are talking about Mothra maybe showing up...but if you watch about halfway through the trailer, that one particular jet looks nothing like the others; I think it might be Rodan!
IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!
I couldn't resist! ;)
@ FELIS, I totally agree with you on the trailer not being spoiler-rific. For example, I really don't see what the point is in seeing this new Spiderman movie in theaters anymore because of how much they have given away. Their marketing took it from something I was going to see as a matinee a few weeks later, to something I'm just gonna Redbox or stream online.
For Godzilla, we G-Fans all know there are going to be new monsters in this movie because we've been following it, but for general audiences, I've loved reading/watching the youtube comments and trailer reviews where it's JUST NOW dawning on people that there will be other monsters in the movie and that's ALL they know :-) So for them, it's built up intrigue and curiosity to go SEE the movie and what it is all about.
I dunno, that trailer did a better job of selling tickets that weren't already pre-sold of any trailer for any movie that I've seen in a LONG TIME.
As far as whether or not Gareth Edwards will be able to avoid the 'big-budget' pitfalls that have plagued directors in the past, I would have to say yes. Partially because I'm biased with fanboyism and hype. And partially because I don't believe Gareth could have assembled THAT cast if there wasn't substance to the characters/plot in the movie. If the movie had all weaker actors or only ONE star, I'd be nervous. But they got several respectable people who wouldn't have signed on to a cheesy, one-dimensional production.
@GODZILLAFAN1995: I'm not sure about Godzilla's DNA, but I do think there will some sort of link/vampirism or something connected with the fact that Godzilla is a radioactive monster, and at least one of the Muto seems to feed on radioactive energy.
@ZILLAHATER
I disagree w/ you on #5. Even if it's a minor monster, something killed by the Japanese military in a flashback sequence, I do feel we will see SOME rendition of that centipede monster in the film. It seems a waste of resources to design/render something in that detail to not use it at all. I'm not saying it will fight Godzilla, or be important to the plot, but I do strongly feel we will see it.
#6. Yeah, those definitely may be eggs instead of a monster. Regardless of what it is, I do think it's cool, the link they are drawing between the Muto's and radioactivity. Maybe they'll have a scene where Godzilla blasts a Muto with his breath, and all that makes it do is grow in size and power?
#7 You're right, insects don't have skeletons like that, so those wouldn't be insectoid remains. I'm not sure though that all the Mutos are insectoid.
#8 LMAO... hahaha, yeah I'm with you on that one :-)
Special effects flicks always trip themselves up on physics, y'know? Whether 350' or 550', if a skyscraper sprouted legs and simply WALKED past you on the street, it would crater every street, possibly down to subway-level, and the concussion of each footfat would shatter both your legs AND your eardrums. Just sayin'.
In 'Jurassic Park', Spielberg played with the 'ground vibration/cup of coffee thing, then promptly abandoned it, right?
In the much-maligned 'Godzilla 1998', Emmerich announced the monster's presence in lower New York by a loud THUMP that rocked every car on the street and set off their car-alarms, then promptly abandoned it.
That kind of stuff grates on MY inner film-geek...
OMG! He looks just.... AAAAAAAAAWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My first post! So psyched to join other die hard G-Fans! I saw the new Empire cover this morning and fell in love I am completely sold on his design. If those gills illuminate before he fires his atomic breath I will lose it in the theatre! :O)
Great googly moogly, Godzilla is bad ass. Finally, back to his awesome self after the 98 failure to capture his essense. Big boy would break Gino in half and chew on his gizzard.
I personally see no need to reveal anything further, without spoiling things. However, a glimse or two of a Muto wouldn't break my heart.
Just hope you're wrong about that script thing, Akagi.
i have a feeling that there is a godzilla clone or complete freak of nature that has godzilla's dna
I know we have a lot of time till May to get nuts about the details. And I admire your forensics, Madison, no doubt!
But I LOVE how little we are being shown, right now. It just kills me how so many movie producers (because I don't think the directors would do this) get cold feet down the home stretch, and just start revealing EVERY good thing about a movie. Can't tell you how many flicks I've just decided NOT to see, because I felt I'd seen just about every worthwhile moment in the trailers.
This second trailer? Outstanding, because it's still CREATING new mysteries for us to ponder and geek out on until May, not ANSWERING them! Though I know it's impossible, I'd be perfectly happy if very little else is revealed until show time. Maybe some more character/relationship fleshing out, because I think that like the best of em' ('Pitch Black' and 'Monsters'are perfect examples) this is going to be a character-driven masterpiece as much as a special-effects driven one.
We've got a REAL question here: if 'Pitch Black' and 'Monsters' were, by their directors' own admission, script/character-driven due to a LOW special effects budget, and we all know that however much we loved 'Chronicles of Riddick', it surely collapsed under its own weight because director David Twohy was given a BIG budget, then can Gareth Edwards defy expectations by turning in the best of both worlds, a script/character-driven big-budget masterpiece?
I'm betting YES. What say you?
Its really...A confusing mess. Not your thread, but all the distorted clips. But I`ll try to answer your questions.
I believe that what we are seeing are creatures that are simmiliar to each other. I believe them to be a reptillian/insect mix. And i believe there are only about three. My proof? Jack s***. No, i have nothing. But at this point, its as good as anything.
Also, number six looks more like an eggsack to me. Why is it on a nuke? Well, think about it. In the forrest scene, we see them find something nuclear, and its covered in goey-stuff. I really think there are some egg-laying stuff from the enemy monsters.
Number 5, there i no way i will ever end up believing it to be in the movie. Why? It was in the concept trailer, and has never been shown since in any promotional stuff. Just keep that in mind.
7 i think belongs to a dead, unmutated Godzilla. Again, no proof, just guessing. For my theory to work, it couldnt be a MUTO since insect dont have skeletons like that as far as i know. My biology is slipping.
And 8... *BEEP* 8.
Yeah, that shot is a bit odd. The CGI is good, but it's the perspective and the size. :O
I loved it. It definitely established Godzilla's characters and the main theme in the movie. I also in all my geekery decided to do a video reaction of my first watching of the trailer.

We are at 5.4 Million Views, and it's still 2 hours still the official 24 hour mark :-)
For just an online release that's pretty impressive.
The 13 million view teaser was bolstered by its attachment to The Hobbit, whereas this new trailer has had to stand on its own pretty much.
My box office fears are becoming increasingly alleviated as time goes on :-)
Well surely we have at least two in the movie, I hope three, and maybe a reference of another one previously killed by Godzilla could appear.
LOTR meets Godzilla meets Spiderman.... LOL
I agree @Mecha G
this trailer was more praised compared to the reception of the teaser trailer by non gfans, especially AMC movie news and jermy jahns and schmoes knows, more will probably follow suit
Ohh I'd go with surge of water as apposed to blue flashes. There trying to keep the movie realistic so i think that would work better.
Area 51 any body?
Vegas?
So ALIENS!!!
Yes that's the Vegas replica, I should know I live in Las Vegas. Plus the trailer it shows other casinos like pair Eiffel Tower replica near by the NewYorkNewYork. Also remember that poster found in La of Las Vegas distroyed with the logo of Godzilla Crap the pictrue didn't post
Remember the creature with the the multiple arms that was red? Maybe that's the creature in the train track part
Good observations
i believe that a bomb was launched at godzilla, and he caught it with his... mouth
pretty much seen all of Godzilla. I'm ready for some Muto.
Does any one notice he has gills. Overall I love this design.
lol i said firstsome things i have to say, but thats all, i put discoveries with them :P
WOW! This is an amazing find, excellent job KAIJUUFIN! A++
Nice find man! Chris will probably see this soon!
