Destroyah-xGodzilla 2014 ForumWhat Godzilla's Ancient Enemy Really Could Be.

@Durp004

Thanks for your comments, but it appears that you still have not provided your theory in detail as to how the sinkholes can possibly be where the Mutos originate, to form the backbone of your entire Godzilla theory, other than just quoting you caught a glimpse of what appears to be a cavern in the trailer. The cavern in the trailer could have been excavated by humans that discovered the bones of the same species belonging to Godzilla which have died out when the climate changed. Carcasses of dinosaurs which had died out over millions of years were  also buried underneath rock over time as earth changed its landscape. So if we find bones of the dinosaurs underground, does it then give the theory that dinosaurs originated from below the ground based on that logic?

Pointers that tell me your sinkhole theory does not stand:

Point #1: Let's quote the most obvious - The word 'MUTO' itself, it is not a species that lives in the caves by the way, it represents the organization itself. Ask yourself, why would a monster be called a MUTO monster for nothing if it is not a product of MUTO's experimentation? Even Legendary states that Godzilla is pitted against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Point #2: It is stated that Godzilla has been living in the deep ocean - until a threat to his survival from an ancient foe forces him to reappear.' So are you saying that a creature which originated from a cave on land could force Godzilla, which is in the comfort of the depths of the ocean to come out to the surface? Or is Godzilla so interested in picking fights with monsters that he simply pops out of the sea when he is in a good mood and goes into a boxing match? Something must be in the ocean that caused Godzilla to come up onto land to feed on the nuclear plants to survive. That's where deep-sea ancient organisms revived by the 1954 nuclear blasts, with the parasitic ability to leech Godzilla's energy come into mind.

Point #3: Why in the world would MUTO want to create new forms of gigantic MUTO Monsters or bolster the powers of existing giant monsters (which originate from sinkholes apparently) to fight Godzilla when Godzilla itself is a Big Headache already for humans? Of course not. That's where Destroyah's theory comes into mind. It would make sense for MUTO to extract the cells of an ancient deep-sea micro-organism and bland them with existing animals such as insects or bats because these animals are small in size. The scientists at MUTO created these small sized hybrids to attack Godzilla by leeching on its energy like what parasites would do. At the same time, the scientists thought they could control their creations since they were too small to prove a threat. Turns out things just went out of control and the cells mutated into something larger which kept growing and growing. That is the same case with Destroyah that went from a microscopic deep-sea organism to a gigantic menace.

#Point 4: This blows your sinkhole origin theory - The glowing bodies of the MUTOs. Bioluminescence occurs on marine vertebrates and invertebrates, which is the strongest hint that the enemy that threatens Godzilla originated from the ocean.

I agree with Linkman89.  While I don't personally care one way or another as far as classic Toho monsters showing up in this film is concerned (I'd be perfectly satisfied with just Godzilla and the Mutos), I've been confused at the number of people stating as indisputable fact that no classic monsters would appear.  The most I've heard from official sources actually linked with the film is that the Mutos in particular would be creatures completely original to this new film.

Isnt that what this site's forum is for. I should be free to post on this site without getting verbally abused by some middle-aged guy living in his moms basement. And Gojira2014, dont quit your day job. Neither of you knows anything more than me about this movie. So keep your (weak) insults to yourself. Gotta love internet bullies.

Does Godzilla not simply come out of the ocean? Judging by the backstory we have on him so far it's clear he does the exact thing except from the ocean rather than caves.

The fact that it is said Godzilla is the last of a group of monsters created from radiations says there were more at 1 point. Maybe not the same exact monster but thrived off radiation. The skeleton that is shown in the trailer is in a cavern, and larger than any normal animal so it's safe to say that monster was at least similar to Godzilla, and the fact he is in a cave, which on the world map on the website shows all the sinkholes being connected speaks volumes for the fact monsters like Godzilla were underground. Now if not for the trailer showing that scene I'd agree, but the fact that 1 of the trailers on the muto site talked about new life being in the sinkholes, and the scene from the newest trailer I'd stack the odds that the monsters originate in those sinkholes. Sure they may be tampered with through genetic engineering by man after they are found but I see it more likely they come from the sinkhole that simply a parasite living off Godzilla

@DURP004

I did not dismiss the presence of sinkholes over my Destroyah-theory, but I do not subscribe to your notion that the Mutos will originate from the sinkholes. If that's really the case, this movie would then smack of unrealism because giant creatures don't just come crawling out of the underground suddenly all in one shot and start attacking humans. Then Godzilla will just end up like any other B-grade movie.

To me, the MUTO monsters are cross-mutations of experiments carried out by the MUTO Organization involving ancient organisms that leeched on Godzilla in the ocean, and those of existing land animals that went out of control and wrecked havok on land. We need only look at the body features of the Muto toys leaked to know they are hybrids of different animals. Like you mentioned, you said the sinkholes are a 'big part of the MUTO website'. It serves as an official viral-marketing site for Godzila that details the operations of MUTO and what they do. To me, these details merely attempt to depict realism in MUTO's operations and may not necessarily appear in the movie itself. Similarly in Cloverfield, its viral websites depict Tagruato and Slusho's website with details and drilling locations, but do we see them in the actual movie? None at all.

My assessment of the story-plot is based on what I have seen so far, and also drawing from details laid out bare on the toys' descriptions and what we see from the official trailers, and not merely teasers/viral marketing materials by the way. If your theory is based on the sinkholes, I very much welcome you to provide your analysis and explanation of the story-plot based on the sinkholes, rather than just quote that sinkholes play a big part on MUTO's website to support your point.

I would certainly like to know how an incredible giant flying MUTO and a giant 8-legged MUTO could simply dig themselves out of a sinkhole and start a fight with Godzilla.

First off we don't know for sure that it WONT be Rodan so people need to stop saying that. Second there are several other monsters in the movie so knowing that one kaiju isn't Rodan doesn't mean that Rodan isn't in the film. The toy that's been revealed doesn't exactly look like a flyer. Finally introducing Rodan is far from a bad idea. Having new and old monsters alike is always a great idea for a film like this. We'll have to wait and see though

If you look closely at the trailer, you notice that when the leg smashes into the ground there's a slight schockwave. Not only that but the claw is glowing a little while it comes down. I personally think that since they absorb radiation, they may be able to generate energy pulses on they're legs

The sinkholes and the multi armed monster aren't comparable. The mult- armed monster was shown in proof of concept footage before the script was even done so any1 would know that isn't going to have relevance to the actual film.

The sinkholes however do. The fact that they are a big part of the muto website speaks for itself, I doubt they'd design a site with a big part of it just to throw people off. That and there are a few scenes in the trailer that show caverns which are fairly likely to be in those sinkholes. I don't think it's fair to discount the sinkholes simply because they don't go with your destroyah theory

^or neither. I'm gonna go with that answer.

Looking at the other foes there's no way Rodan would fit in with them. If they were reptilian, and looked like dinosaurs then I could see a nod at Rodan to go with the other pair, but they have no similarities so unless Rodan comes completely out of left field I don't see it happening

people don't need to see the origin story of it to enjoy the character, it could be a nod to fans to know it's him, and plus IGN basically came out and said that's what the secret was, I'm not pulling this out of thin air.

@Anthony.1432, no, Rodan would be kinda stupid to add into a movie that's supposed to be reintroducing the character to a new audience.  We fans would be the only ones to understand who Rodan is, maybe have an easter-egg about him, but save a Toho Kaiju for the sequels.

They are children's toys of course they're going to be inaccurate compared to the actual creatures in the film.  As I'd say to my brony friend, "it's for kids, not middle-aged men." Wait til NECA releases the Muto toys if you want accuracy.

After seeing the leaked image of the flying Muto toy, it further points to the Destroyah-theory that I talked about, which is present here in this Godzilla movie. We can see that the flying Muto possesses the same outlook and traits as the 8-legged Muto, except with a larger frame and wings this time, which suggests the Muto evolved / transformed itself to better take on Godzilla. When looking through the leaked toylist, I noted that the pack with 8-legged muto + Godzilla mini toy set costs $7.99 while the Winged muto pack costs $19.99. What caught my attention most was the one which merely listed Muto + Godzilla set at $21.99. Could the $21.99 pack reveal the ultimate enemy of Godzilla ?

Also, for those who advocate a different sort of theory on the Mutos, you will notice I did not talk about the multi-armed (so-called Taleghan) creature sighted in the teaser clips nor the relevance of the sinkholes. Because teasers sometimes do not necessarily bear exact relevance to the film, and are only meant to be viral-marketing materials to ignite discussion or speculation, or to draw attention away from the true details of the plot. This is similar to how we saw teaser clips of whale carcasses and the Tagruato Corporation and the Slusho ads prior to the screening of Cloverfield, but we do not see these things in the actual movie. Likewise, I doubt this multi-armed armadillo-like lizard creature nor the sinkholes we see on the teasers are going to make an appearance in this Godzilla movie.

For guys who still insist that this multi-armed (taleghan) creature would appear in the movie, here's my theory on what would take place. Based on the appearance of this creature, which resembles a multi-armed armadillo + lizard, it suggests a burrower. Which means that the sinkholes are created by this creature. If you look at the backdrop where the carcass of the creature lies, it appears to be in Japan (most likely Tokyo) where it encountered Godzilla and was exterminated, needless to say. Note that this teleghan creature did not go looking for Godzilla for a fight. If we look at the events, where I explained that Godzilla was forced to feed on radioactive energy on land which brought it to Tokyo, the said multi-armed creature could also have found it's way there to feed on the nuclear plant, which led to the confrontation. In other words, this multi-armed creature could also have been an ancient species that lived in the pacific region, like Godzilla did and was awoken by the increased radioactivity on the pacific islands. Therefore my take on this multi-armed lizard would be that even if it does appear in the movie, it would play a minor role in the start of the movie.
