The chances are infestimally small. 0.000000000000000000000000000000000001% kinda small.
When it comes to science, I don't like to 100% rulle things out, but still, this basically never going to happen.
And if it did, it would not be an accident, nor would it be through radiation. It would be something that we did on purpose, through genetic engineering.
While the science is still a long ways off, and we haven't found any good enough samples to put together a whole creature, scientists have been working on re-creating dinosaurs. So it would be something like that, if it ever happened.
Some (very few) dinosaur fossils that we uncover actually have some "soft" tissue remains, which contains some DNA proteins. Not a full strand, not enough to work with. But as we find more specimens, we can get closer to getting a more complete chain.
The 'plugging holes' theory from Jurassic Park could be used to plug gaps, assuming there were only a few gaps. Not from frogs, but from de-evoling contemporary relatives. In chickens, and other types of birds, we have found 'genetic memory' of ancestor creatures, in essentially inactive genes. But the genes are still there from a still unknown number of ancestors.
Scientists have found a way to activate these old genes in some birds, causing baby birds to be born with scales, teeth, and even tails. Granted, they've never been able to hatch a LIVE bird this way, they all have died during development. But live or not, by identifying "ancestor sequences" of the right specimens, you could then theoretically plug in gaps that were missing from the "soft" tissue samples found in fossils.
You would have to know which sequences to use, as well as be sure you had matched the fossil ancestor with it's ACTUAL contemporary relative ancestor sequence....a "close enough" sequence just won't cut it at this time.
So yeah, it's complicated, it's a stretch, it will take time, but it could maybe be done. Even if it was done though, the end result would be something much more similar to a dinosaur, than a giant monster.
Here's a start to finding more info if you're interested:
And Mankind goes bye-bye!
Yea, I know it's bad. Im not one of those blind men who think. It would be so cool if godzilla was really real! There are obvious things bad, and others that follow.
obvious: big lizard attack city
Country pay money to fix city
big lizard rinses and repeats
we lose money
military dwindles
most importantly DEATH. Death is not cool.
aftermath: lingering radiation
economic drops
I feel like it's just the excitement surge through the days, nobody has time to look for the official thread, it's more of a, "Oh my! This news is amazing I must post it now!"
Not a, "hmm looking through the forum list.... Gonna post what the new news is.... Hmmm pretty exciting stuff guys."
not that i am defending them, reposts clutter the forums, but it's the matter of what they had to say and their excitement to tell others
Lewshizz, that's pretty bad if the mutation actually did happen and I didn't finish it. Because nuclear testing on a test subject (alligator, turtle, guinea pig, horse, cow, etc.) caused the DNA to change.
Heavy metal doesn't work well with kaiju (excluding that fight with otachi in PR)
orchestral always prevails in kaiju fights. I would like to see a dark slow theme of godzilla during a stand off.
and there too is a good point monstermovieguy, the thing about the liquified actions are that adaption to accommodate such masses would allow the creature to theoretically remain stable.
That is a really good link, I like your answer. I found it the same way.
Still would be cool (as cool as death can get heheheheh)
I'd have to disagree with you there. I didn't get any sense of scale, power, or danger from that song. To me it sounds like a song a medieval minstrel would sing with some heavy metal instruments played in the background.
In the future, sadly yes. Because we might find a way to cure radiation poisning and spread across the world. Then, we'll figure out that something went wrong with an animal and caused a mutation. So we might have one in the far future (2040 or later)
0%. Anything that large would practically liquify under its own weight.
This link gets into the science of how this is impossible. http://www.apeculture.com/movies/godzilla.htm
and Gman about my post about Godzilla might be real i said it could be my imagination so the people that said dont be troll and he cant be real i said that he might be real or it can be my imagination so you guys need to read better.
so far i do but we have not seen the full thing
I wouldn't say I love the new design, but I really, really like it. Like any Godzilla design I prefer some details over others, but it's probably the best Godzilla has looked since 1995. I'm still not a big fan of the feet and the spines could be a little bigger. Other than that it looks like a tough Godzilla to me.
Yet, apparently teens haven't improved enough to spell "offsprings" and "adults" correctly, nor evolved enough to keep their temper in check.
Gojira 2014, the outburst of two posts in a row wasn't necessary, especially after the last few posters have explained that the movie will most likely be PG-13. Besides, the last time I saw GodzillaFreak post around here was January or December, I think.
There are definitely many little things I would have done different, mostly being making the dorsal plates and teeth, and claws bigger. That being said, I think it has alot fewer flaws than many, if not all the other designs. I like the skin texture, and the feet have grown on me. If the character is animated the right way, I really think this could be the best Godzilla ever, despite what I feel are its shortcomings.
So it isn't really confirmed then? Fair enough. I'm going to take this with a grain of salt.
@Gman2997
It came from one of the witness's accounts that saw the clips. I think that guy didn't know what he was talking about, but I could be wrong. :/
Where did Hokmuto come from? I've never seen that until I clicked on this thread.
This might be my favorite design thus far. I love the crocodilian scales he has as opposed to the old-school corduroy grooves. I really like the feet too! It adds a nice elephantine quality.
I'm not necessarily for or against this, but I don't really see the point of "clans" either. It sounds like a glorfied word to use in place of "fan club".
I suppose if you want to start something like that, Gojira 2014, you can always create your own Scified blog/site. Beyond that I don't see there being any official help for such a movement. Especially with the majority here being against it. It looks like it would cause more headaches than it's worth.
ZIllahater, exactly. I like to base my opinons in a scientific maner. if you listen to the people in the movies, they do explain some things about some creatures/Mecha-units in a scientificly. Also, go to the home page of this site, the first article under the news should have the name of the mutos.
What a waste of time that was. Fortunately, someone with a copy of the script (you may know him as Snowdenzilla) is posting actual leaks on some new forums I found.
Check it out here:

I wouldn't take this at face value. It comes from the internet, and the chances that it's actually based on fact is very, very small. I'd prefer to wait to judge the ending of the movie until I actually see it. It only makes sense after all.
Besides, Gareth Edwards himself said that he wanted to 'end on a high' for this film.
I'd say that means he has a bombtastic ending in store for us. I'll trust Gareth Edwards before I trust a random picture from the internet, regardless of where it came from.
I am in love with this new design! (I almost just called it a suit! Oops!) It looks like frigin Godzilla, and thats all I was really looking for with this one. But they went beyond just making Godzilla LOOK LIKE Godzilla... they made one of the coolest looking Godzilla's of all time, and one that truly deserves to sit alongside anything that Toho has produced over the King's first 28 films! The feet don't bother me, I love his asymmetrical spines, his face is awesome... I just adore it all! The only thing that bugs me is the discrepancy between the depictions of his face, namely the marketing face and the Empire face. The different lighting and angles make the two look startlingly dissimilar, but this is just a nitpick about the marketing, not about the design! I cannot wait to finally see the Legendary Godzilla in his hif full, moving glory in May, or maybe even sooner! :)
So, let me see if I got the gist here... you guys are saying no?
:)
Because all we need are G-fans turning on each other.

Yeah guys, all of Godzilla's "Founding Fathers" have been dead for a long time, some longer than others. Tsuburaya passed in 1970, Honda in 1993 (several days after I was born), Tanaka in 1997, and Ifukube in 2006. A dedication would be very appropriate, very special, and very appreciated. :)
my reaction to this:

I like your theory, it is natural based and asks some good question. But...Hokmuto? Is it confirmed now? If so...
That would mean the leaked script is confirmed, as that was what it was called in that script. Huh. Actually, alot of the stuff in the trailer (The bomb) and the stuff with the kid also was in the script.
Or is the script already also confirmed, and i missed it?
Of coure, we DON'T know if they are NOT aliens either. We really don't know anything about the Muto's at all. They have been described as ancient enemies of Godzilla, but it also seems mankind is playing a part in their creation and/or resurection. Anything specific is all speculation at this point. But I like these ideas!
let me think as well........

I love the design. Of course it isnt perfect, and from certain angles he can look bad. But its a great design, it feels like Godzilla, it looks like Godzilla and it IS Godzilla. 8/10.
Holy crap. O_o
And this... was just... SEVEN MINUTES?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! :O
My cautious optimism has slowly been eroding over the last year, and is being replaced by uncontrollable excitement! But THIS?!?! THIS has replaced that with a healthy dose of HOLYCRAPHOLYCRAPHOLYCRAPHOLYCRAPISITMAYYETINEEDTOSEETHISBLOODY MOVIEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-ness!
63 days left!
Lopsquid, I never said this was Alien. The Hokmuto look very insect like. Perhaps they live in a hive system. We don't know yet.
i wanna see this movie so bad
Godzilla Himself, That's not fair for the die-hard fans. Plus If there were clans, they would more likely be split into faction categories like in Godzilla Unleashed. And believe me, no one would be in the Mecha-units/military clan. Reason, the military loses to giant monsters all the time. Besides, having clans will lead to fights and could tear the fabric of our fanhood apart. This site has united Godzilla fans every where in numbers I never would have believed. Clans would just be a problem.
Will be looking forward for when you finish your planned comic...should be interesting
