What I can confirm is this: Legendary only has rights to the Godzilla character, and not any of his counterparts. They legally can not use any classic monsters. It has been confirmed, however, that Godzilla will fight at least two other monsters in the film. And I actually like the fact that they will be new and original.

Nice fan art! I always pictured a realistic godzilla standing upright like in the Japanese films when he wants to get a better look around or wants to intimidate a rival while in battle, but going to a verticle theropod like stance (albeit with a slope to its back) when running or just casually walking. This design seems to reflect just that.

I dought that even if they try to, it will fail when both company's argue about who should win even though Godzilla would obviously destroy that damn turtle.

My second favorite after GMK. I like how they used zillas roars for Godzillas breathing.

Probrobly Godzilla the series, the animated tv show that came after the first American Godzilla (which was way better by the way). I saw godzilla movies prior but watching this I thought it was pretty good so I got out my godzilla movies and watched them and then I was hooked on giant monster movies.

Something original, not another Mechagodzilla that should be sayed for sequels.

Atomic breath, I especially loved the hyper spiral beam from the last 3 Heisei movies and Final Wars.

Kiryu obviously, but Jet Jaguar was pretty cool too.

I personally loved it, it currently stands as my 2nd favorite Godzilla movie to date. This movie has one of the best Godzilla designs that I've ever seen in any of the Godzilla movies. I also thought that Orga was a great monster too. The music was awesome and so was the monster battle. One of the best movies ever made for sure (In my opinion).

Millennium Series for me, because it contains my favorite movies and my favorite Godzilla designs.

Not only is this my favorite Godzilla movie, it's also my favorite movie overall. This movie has almost everything I could ever want in a G movie: Epic monster fights, worldwide destruction, an amazing soundtrack, monster and human characters that I could root for, unforgettable scenes, good humor, cool monster designs, and of course an awesome looking Godzilla suit. I know that some people wish that the monster battles were a little longer but I think it made Godzilla look a lot more powerful against some of his enemies that gave him a hard time in the past which I enjoyed. However I do wish that they focused more on the monsters than the humans but it isn't that big of a deal for me. It doesn't need to be 100% perfect to be the best of the best, I love Final Wars just the way it is. All the Godzilla movies are awesome but the ones from the Millennium series are even better in my honest opinion and Godzilla: Final Wars is undoubtedly my favorite Godzilla movie ever made.

My all time favorite Godzilla movie is Godzilla: Final Wars. The G suit looks awesome, the soundtrack is magnificent, etc. The movie was just epic!

For me the Heisei series suit is the classic look, so that is without a doubt my favorite. I don't hate the millennium look either. The only look I hated was zilla (1998). The new Godzilla better look like Godzilla damn it!!!

Heisei all day for me. I like a few from the showa era, but the Cheeze gets me every time. Sure the Heisei era has it's share of cheese, but it also has continuity, that's the key for me.

Godzilla save the Earth for the Xbox is my fav. Took forever for me to find a copy that isn't expensive.

I wish I could understand why so many people are consumed with this question....this movie is only budgeted around 100 million dollars...not very much when you consider it cost 200 mill. for Iron Man 3 so,.....not to mention ,..they have to pay to use any other toho monsters...probably not cheap as well....I say let's just worry about the real question on this movie.....a true "force of nature"? or just a dinosaur who gets blown away by the good ol' USA......

Final Wars may not be a bad movie, but to me, it's a bad Godzilla movie and a horrible finale film. Toho went into it knowing they wouldn't touch the character for 10 years and that's the last thing we got. On the whole, I feel like the Millennium series was weak, no continuity, constant reboots, I don't know why it went like that when the Showa and Hesei eras flowed so well within each other. Final Wars put too much emphasis on the humans for me, and being a Matrix meets X-Men type story just killed it, it felt very unoriginal, the lead actor even looks like Keanu Reeves. When we finally get Godzilla action, it's rushed and boring, and then the big fight that does get interesting features the worst Ghidorah design of all. I think the movie might feel ok and more like a modern Godzilla's Revenge were it not for being the finale. I think a lot of people are eager for Godzilla 2014 because it's been a long time since we got a really good Godzilla and the last one was weak.

Assuming they have the rights to Ifukube's music, I do believe the classic Godzilla theme has to make an appearance, even if it's not heavily used. Hans Zimmer is definitely one of the best composers working right now, but I'd also be up for Brian Tyler or Michael Giacchino, they've both done new scores in existing franchises and done a great job of weaving the classic themes in while bringing their own fresh stuff to the table and also making their themes feel like they belong in the larger body of work for the franchise. There are plenty of non-Ifukube composers already who lost the feel of Godzilla music with their scores, I just hope the score to this feels like Godzilla and at least pays homage to what came before, but also that it really fits the onscreen events.

I would Prefer to Invent NEW Monsters cuz some of these classic toho monsters were already redesigned twice.

I think they should make it a legitimate reboot, have the first monster Godzilla fight be something a lot similar to Angirus. They should have at least one movie with King Ghidorah, and/or MechaGodzilla

Final Wars was like a crazy anime movie turned into live action, with a Godzilla movie weaved in. It's so off the wall, I love it! In my top 5.

I also agree that Hans Zimmer should score the new Godzilla movie. Especially after this lovely clip I found on youtube today that someone (NOT ME) made of Godzilla destroying Super-Mecha-Godzilla from the 1993 movie Godzilla vs Mecha-Godzilla 2, to a song from The Dark Knight Rises ( I think). Seriously, I'm just like all of you and since I can literally remember I've been a Godzilla freak. I was a kid in the early seventies and remember it very well. Loved it. Ran home from school to not miss Godzilla week....however, please know that with the greatest respect to our nostalgic past, while there will be a nod here and there to the old, there is absolutely NO way Gareth is making an old school battle film here. No aliens, no Monster Island, no Godzilla talking to Angilus,...etc. This is a rework of the original and while there may be other monsters in it, more than likely they will be a part of the background. Imagine that whatever creates Godzilla offshoots to other things but certainly not any focus. This is Gojira and humans. And believe me I love the old but it GUARANTEED will not happen that way. Think about it. It would instantly relegate it to a kids film. No way Legendary is doing that.

If Angilas was in the movie, I would seriously have a nerd attack and die.
