Should any of the classic Godzilla Monsters be used in the new Godzilla movies?

AdminSpaceGodzillaJul-07-2013 3:04 PMSome fans say Godzilla 2014 should introduce new Monsters and that the only classic Monster from the original Godzilla movies which should be re-introduced in the 2014 reboot is Godzilla himself.
However, some fans are very interested in the possibility of re-inventing some of the classic Toho monsters in the new Godzilla movies. I am of course assuming Legendary plans to make at least 3 Godzilla movies while they hold the license to do so.

So what do you think? Should Godzilla 2014 or any of its following sequels utilize any of the classic Godzilla monsters? Or start fresh a new set of monsters?

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-07-2013 4:18 PMI think they should make it a legitimate reboot, have the first monster Godzilla fight be something a lot similar to Angirus. They should have at least one movie with King Ghidorah, and/or MechaGodzilla

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-08-2013 7:27 PMI wish I could understand why so many people are consumed with this question....this movie is only budgeted around 100 million dollars...not very much when you consider it cost 200 mill. for Iron Man 3 so,.....not to mention ,..they have to pay to use any other toho monsters...probably not cheap as well....I say let's just worry about the real question on this movie.....a true "force of nature"? or just a dinosaur who gets blown away by the good ol' USA......

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-09-2013 1:50 PMWhat I can confirm is this: Legendary only has rights to the Godzilla character, and not any of his counterparts. They legally can not use any classic monsters. It has been confirmed, however, that Godzilla will fight at least two other monsters in the film. And I actually like the fact that they will be new and original.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-10-2013 11:41 AMI think they should use one classic monster, and introduce a new one each film.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-11-2013 2:21 PMWell, there's honestly only one choice for an epic showdown in a Godzilla movie: King Ghidorah. The greatest (arguably) villain in the series would be the most fitting.
I do tend to agree with most people, saying that there needs to be a new monster for this reboot series. However, you need something recognizable to kick things off. Remember people were off by Biollante in the Heisei series, so they basically remade all the old monsters, and introduced only 2 new ones (Battra [who is just a evil mothra, so IDK if that counts really] and Destroyah). Even with the millennium series, they did the same thing. Only Orga, Megaguiras (kinda), and Monster X (slightly), were new.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-16-2013 6:58 PMwell to me... i think they should use a classic monster for the sequels, depending on how good the movie does...

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-05-2013 10:33 PMThose would be neat. I say they should use both new monsters and classics. But I would LOVE to see a new version of Varan.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-05-2013 11:36 PMI don't know how or even if they'd be able to pull it off, but I'd love to see Mecha-King Ghidorah a second time.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-06-2013 5:28 PMTHERE WILL BE NO OLD TOHO MONSTERS!!! You guys need to read the movie news. Gareth Edwards at Comic Con may have told us that he can't tell us whether or not new monsters will be in this movie, but that was all due to the fact that he doesn't want to give anything away right now. The screenwriters have already told us that they will be totally new.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-06-2013 9:08 PMGodzillasaurus, we're talking about sequels.
I think the sequel should include Anguirus. I had an idea for the third film where they found out Anguirus was still alive after the second film and then they discovered Rodan, and humanity got sick of monsters coming in and tearing things up so America and Japan banded together to build MechaGodzilla. It'd be "realistic" so it would take them about 2 years to build it. The climax would be the battle of Godzilla, Rodan, and Anguirus vs. MechaGodzilla. Rodan would die though (otherwise, it would be overkill for MG).

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-07-2013 7:07 PMIf Legendary makes a Trilogy:
Godzilla (won't happen though but maybe they are hiding Villain Toho Monsters until the film?): Hedorah as the Antagonist, with a swarm of Kamacuras and Military Forces as Supporting Villains.
For Godzilla 2: Destroyah as the Antagonist and Varan as a Supporting Villain with Jet Jaguar as an ally of Godzilla.
For Godzilla 3: King Ghidorah (later as Mecha-King Ghidorah) as the Antagonist with Kumonga as an opener (EX: Scarecrow in The Dark Knight), Mecha-Godzilla as a Villain first but then later an ally of Godzilla.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-07-2013 11:15 PMJust wondering but how would Destroyah be created in your film?

AdminGodzillaSep-08-2013 3:53 AMIf it were up to me I wouldn't use any Heisei monsters. I think I'd fill a trilogy with the heavy hitters: Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah-- with King Ghidorah used for the middle movie, ala, the Joker for The Dark Knight.
No idea how the concept would work, but King Ghidorah is Godzilla's greatest nemesis. I feel like there should be an effort bring him onscreen as well.

I could see it this way:
If Legendary Pictures is making a Trilogy, then it would be a great idea to kill off Godzilla in the Final 3rd film. You can do it by setting up the Oxygen Destroyer throughout the films and developing Dr. Serizawa (Ken Watanabe?) as a character like in any other movie. In this case, I could see Destroyah being a failed result of Serizawa's Ultimate ''Secret Weapon'', and later emerging after the dawn of the Godzilla 2014 events happened, with Radiation being the treasure for Giant Monsters.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-27-2013 11:53 PMI think if they plan to use some classic monsters they should start with ones interesting but not used often,,,and of course they should be fitting in the movie and not some kinda random character just added.
