@STEVEN1985 To be realistic, I to hope they don't use the surviving dino bit. The ocean is mostly unexplored, so who knows what monsters lurk there already (let alone mutated ones). What would be funny, if they had a James Cameron type dive to the Mariana Trench in the movie and is the first to be attacked by Godzilla (instead of finding nothing).

That is really badass fanart. I could practically see this new Godzilla in a trailer. But I believe Godzilla has always swam like a crocodile, one of the very few things I can say about the 1998 Godzilla film is that I love how they portrayed his swimming, the new 2014 Godzilla should do the same.

To be honest, I hope they don't stick with the whole dinosaur thing. It's been over used and it is very cheesy. Since 1954 there has been a tremendous amount of discoveries and I'm hoping we'll see something new and interesting in this film. As for what animal Godzilla could be, I thinking a Synapsid or theropsid. Godzilla has more mammal-like reptiles features then a dinosaur. But whatever idea they come up with should be good. Godzilla is from the ocean, which is the most unknown and surprising places we know of.

Godzilla has always been realistic. Not in the nuclear dinosaur aspect, but in a post apocalyptic. Nuclear warfare is real and can still happen, even though all the major bomb threats were made back in the Cold War era. Godzilla, in many ways, is the product of man kinds arrogance. Just want to get the whole realism argument out of the way. Now, for the fans whining about the design, I personally think it's pathetic. "It looks like Zilla!" Since when did the design even look remotely like Emmerich's "Godzilla"? We got a true Godzilla design, and that's all that matters.

... I feel so enlightened...? So, in all honesty, what was the point of this post? I don't like being negative, but this post is so pointless that I can't really help it. Was it for attention? Because it worked, I'll give you that. I realize negative attention is still attention, but did this information require a post like this? You do realize that everyone else probably knew this before you did right? It's not that difficult to look at a calendar or type in a given future date on google and figure out what day of the week it falls on. Again I don't like being negative, but for me this post feels like it falls under the "what is this person even doing?" category.

All I know is that, if this was a movie made by Toho people wouldn't be complaining about anything (the design, "realism", development of human characters throughout the film, etc.). As I said on another post, I really can't see at all what's the problem with the film. Personally I have always had faith in this film ever since it was first announced in 2010, and I have no doubt it is going to be awesome. Can't tell the same about other guys who think this is going to be 1998 all over again just because it is being produced by an american studio. Gareth Edwards is the right man for the job.

The reason why the '98 movie did so bad was because they hired Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich. These two haven't made a good movie.. Ever. The best thing they ever made before Godzilla was Independence Day, and that wasn't even all that good. Had they stuck with their original choice in director, we would have gotten a much different movie, probably more like the Godzilla we're getting today. The "realistic" aspects of the film go beyond just his origins. Reactions are a big part of the realism, but a lot of Godzilla's design has been carefully constructed to present a creature that could be real. Gills, pupils, color scheme, and even the teeth. Now, I'm not saying it's very realistic for an animal to be 500 ft tall, weigh over 200k tons, that utilizes nuclear energy, but they're trying to make it as believable as possible. As such, I wouldn't expect the classic atomic breath to be in place. Rather something more terrifying. If they use the classic breath, awesome. That's cool. I just don't think they're going that route. So yeah, realism is a big part of this movie. But really, I couldn't care less if it were realistic or not. I just think that we're lucky enough to see a Godzilla movie. They could go with the extreme campiness of the showa series, or they could go for the horror of the original movie... Hell, they could just go with straight up action like they did with the Heisei series. A mix of the three like they did with the X series (Millennium series)... I wouldn't care. Godzilla is Godzilla in my books. Just get Godzilla in there, and I'll be okay with the movie, have he fangs or small teeth, small or large feet, green grey or black, small or large.... If Godzilla is in it, I'm cool with it.

JUST MY THOUGHT Realism sure is a big worry for us all, but after I thought about it...we already HAVE giant monsters.....so like, what's to worry too much on about realism, they're ALREADY THERE. This movie is not going to fail guys Edwards is doing a great job even if the suit has some problems still the movie will work it,s not going to fail and also Edwards want to add new monsters too his movies like he wants too start a new series so how about you calm down and be happy about this movie instead of being so picky >.>

I have worked on a theory here that i think could help you; [i]We know Godzilla will awaken in Japan. He then takes a pitstop at Wakkiki beach where he fights the NAVY. He then fights the first MUTO[/i] Okay now, some of the rest could possible not happen, and i dont when any of it happens. [i]Godzilla figths the millitary at the golden gate bridge. Godzilla fights the second MUTO. The movies climax[/i] Sounds like plenty of Godzilla.

Personaly, im fine with just a few images would be nice, even if Godzilla may only be seen in glimpse. But we have already seen his finalised head and neck, which lead down into what looks like a heisei-type body. And i also know Godzilla already, i want to learn about these MUTO creatures. But if we do get the trailer, thats just even better. But i wonder; If its just images, what kind of images are we talking about? Posters? Concept art like the one with Godzilla swimming under the big ship? Or just production images? A bit of everything maybe?

I understand what youre saying, but in the end everyone will have different opinions. Also, when people read about the movie and watch the two trailers we had, everyone starts to get their own idea about the tone; Alot of people see a very dark and realistic film, while i may see it in another light even though its the same stuff we have read/watched. About us being picky...Well, i cant argue with it. Some of us are really picky, but i do think SOME of it is justified; We want to see Godzilla being Godzilla in a big budget cgi movie, and last time we were promised this, what did we get? A slap in the face. Its the fear of that which makes people a bit picky. But as i said, some are a bit too picky.

Nah, Gman, I always believed you. I never bought into the trailer being released on the 3rd. I always figured Hobbit, Christmas, or 300.

The main problem I have with suit acting is that it's not very "mobile" as you say. It's also very apparent that it's a man in a suit, at least for me it is, which takes away from the awe and wonder of a giant, radioactive beast destroying a city. I think realism is a very important part for Godzilla to be successful. Whether or not there should be realism, I don't really care. But in order for it to do even remotely well in the box office, it's gonna need to be presented in a way that's very believable. I couldn't care less if we get a campy Godzilla movie or a realistic one, but if they're marketing it as realistic then I have absolutely no problem with that. You can compare the two. People do it all the time. TriStar, if I remember correctly, had also marketed a "realistic" approach to Godzilla, but in my opinion, the Toho creation turned out to be far more believable than the "TriStar disaster" ever achieved, which is all I meant to point out by putting them together. Regarding your comment about my comment on trailers, maybe, maybe not. I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on trailers, but regardless, interest was definitely piqued. It's nice to finally see that someone else doesn't want to see Toho monsters. I guess I can see where you're coming from. I try to see things from both sides, but I never really considered that point. However, I still think it's appropriate to leave the Toho monsters in Japan where they belong. I say "lucky" loosely. I meant that Toho could have just kept the rights to the franchise/character and we'd never see a movie newer than Final Wars. Which I think was going to be Godzilla's ultimate fate anyways, had Banno asked for the rights and brought them to Legendary. I say "lucky" because we're even getting a Godzilla film, campy, serious, realistic, unrealistic, it's happening. Did Toho have to give Legendary the rights to Banno? Nope. Not at all. It's through a series of fortunate events that Godzilla is even allowed to be shown on the big screen in the united states at all.

Suit acting, I don't really care about, it can be done well though, the only upside to CGI is that it will allow the monster to do things and be more mobile in fights than a suit actor ever could, so perhaps suitimation would work better at some points of the movie with full CGI in the fights. Realism just shouldn't be included in a movie about a giant radioactive dinosaur. Sorry for those on this realism train but just because it worked well with Batman(debatable because even those who love the movie have to admit the degree of seriousness it took sometimes held back the story from a superhero perspective rather than a character study of Bruce Wayne that it became) doesn't mean it will work well with Godzilla, as batman isn't so outside the scope of realism it would distract you. As a side not you can't compare the realism of Tristar's and toho's as they are both very far outside of that, with the small exception of the Godzilla from tristar having some degree of animal traits moreso than the original. Don't really nitpick or care if people do so can't really throw my opinion onto that subject As for the trailers the same amount of Google searches and uped interest if not more would have happened had a real trailer been released and not taken down. I'm actually for new monsters over the overused toho 1s, however i will say why I believe people want old monsters back; The enemies in godzilla throughout the whole series have become a big a part as Godzilla himself. Had it not been for them the series wouldn't have taken off, been able to explore as many routes, and change tone throughout. Has it not always been in our interest to see a more well produced higher budget version of a toho Godzilla? For most people You can't say godzilla and not also immediately think of the various monsters he's fought. To say we're lucky isn't really a fair term, luck would be remaking this and letting us see it for free, but we will all be helping to finance it when it is released so if anything the studio is lucky to get such an iconic character in an age that is full of remakes and sequels. The studio wouldn't be doing this out of the good of their hearts if they didn't think they could make a profit.

I still don't think you understand the point I'm trying to get across. That's wonderful that you're checking the news, but that has nothing to do with a trailer being released. Nor does news on monsters, why would that have any impact on the timing of the trailer? I agree, we should see a trailer fairly soon, but it won't be this Sunday, because, as I've said nearly three times now, the film industry is not nearly as active on weekends as it is on weekdays, just like most businesses. And it will be released by both Legendary and WB because it's a joint production. Why would we be waiting on who released it? And what do two previously leaked trailers have anything to do with this discussion?

GMAN2887 well maybe there not making any announcements because they waiting for more news about the new monster or the trailer but the official trailer for Godzilla will come out soon thats why i check the news every day too see if there is any on oh and Gman we got 2 teasers all ready that counts as trailers but not official trailers of theatrical trailers over all my guess is the trailer will come on Sunday or maybe not we just got to wait for more news and also who is going to release the trailer. legendary will or maybe WB . this is my final reply too you

@XXSaberBlackCrow I would be more than happy to be wrong, but you're missing the point. Movie trailers are not typically released by the industry on the weekend. The film industry is a business and that business works on weekdays [u]not[/u] weekends. So tell me, who exactly is going to release this trailer on a Sunday? There will be no trailer released this Sunday, November 3rd. We would've at least heard an announcement by now. You're only setting yourself up for disappointment expecting a trailer that day.

I have to say, I wasn't a Godzilla fan until I saw the trailer, it gave me goosebumps and made me REALLY want to see the movie. It looks very special. I wasn't a fan of the older campy style, but this, oh my god I cannot wait.

Yo, Kyero, this thread is rather old. lmao it's been stated that I was misinterpreting this somewhere in the discussion. I've already made a recent post, "How Gareth Edwards can use the Monster Island idea and still get a serious film". It had nothing to do with Destroy All Monsters, other than mention it was a film that had used this concept.
