He might have been created at the same time as Godzilla was. Though Godzilla's immense size also has a bit to do with both deep-sea gigantism and island gigantism, the radiation just enhances that in his genetic code. Could very well be polymelia, then the radiation just enhanced it.

Best? Or favorite? The best is easily the original Godzilla (1954). And while it's also my favorite, I still have a few other favorites clumped with it.

I think it would be a rough fight and I think that Mothra would win, yet mothra would probably be wounded.

Good man! However, is that they would use the Marvel Monsters Godzilla?!
And I agree ... a third monster would be very cool!
I am very excited for this movie!
Here where I live (Brazil) is hard to get the movies, even DVD! Majority I had to download from the internet ... I'm a fan of Godzilla since I was 3 years old .... When my father took me to see the movie! It was Godzilla (Zilla) of Rolland Emmerich ... At the time I was fascinated! with 8 years I first saw the real Godzilla, was on TV, and I found the whole mythology of Godzilla ... and there today, a big fan, and next year ... 19 years I'll be able to see again in Godzilla films ... and now, I believe, a great adaptation of the classic and original Japanese Godzilla!

This fight would kinda resemble Frankenstein vs Baragon. Except Titanosaurus has no powers to launch. And Gaira being humanoid with quickness and intelligence. Throw in the complete insane rage that dwells within Gaira as well, and I think this fight is over quickly. Gaira wins ...

maybe the mutos could be food for the 2nd kaiju. im saying this because it reminded me of the original rodan movie. in the movie rodan ate these large larvae type bugs in the volcano where rodan laid dormant.

Seems to fit the descriptions of the Monster, but it does resemble Destroyah way too much. Still, I've been searching for this image by searching "Destroyah Concept Art" for awhile and can't find jack. It could be badass fanart but I'm not sure. PICKLEDPUNKS where'd you get this?
ReplyRay BurrberryGodzilla ForumMothra vs. Kumonga - Who do you think would win?Nov 5, 2013
Both versions of Mothra have gone toe-to-toe with Godzilla and have stopped him on occasion. I say that with a grain of salt because I always refused to believe that a moth and two larvae could ever stand a chance against Godzilla. That being said, if Mothra could stand up against Godzilla then she easily could beat Kumonga.
ReplyDurp004Godzilla 2014 ForumMutos MAY be slightly disappointingNov 5, 2013
1. Godzilla's never fought a turtle in any moves on screen.
2. To say we shouldn't care about the enemy is something I don't agree with at all as really the enemies in every movie set the tone and plot for the movie as much as Godzilla himself in most cases
The reason I don't think they're starting with just Godzilla is because that is actually a fairly difficult plot to pull off in the current time. That and I think we have gotten somewhat spoiled by his list of enemies and one of the main complaints from the tristar version being that he had no one to fight.

ReplyHuge-BenGodzilla ForumMothra vs. Kumonga - Who do you think would win?Nov 5, 2013
that is an interesting question chris lets see....
mothra has a power source and her posion powder which could paralyze her enemies
kumonga only has his web attack
so if you place them both in an areana but based them as regular bugs and arachnids then kumonga would win
but add their power abilities then mothra would win easily her posion powder would paralyze kumonga and she would finish him off with her antena blast or whatever its called needless to say kumonga looks like those damn camel spiders vicious little bastards
ReplyG. H. (Gman)Godzilla 2014 ForummutosNov 5, 2013
I think Chris nailed it. I'm about 80% sure that's concept art for Destroyah from back in 1994/1995.
Or (even more likely) it's some fan art variant on Destroyah.

Why dont they just stick with Godzilla alone like the first Godzilla movie back in 1954. That idea was so bad ass then introduce a monster or two in a sequel and then a monster bash destroy all monsters type in the trilogy. And then have Godzilla fight king kong. I dont understand how they wanna go grounded with a mutiple monster fight in this first one. Then again we all thought this movie would be cann but after seeing the video footage suposibly "leaked" (SDCC trailer @least) than this fillm is in good hands. If the director was someone big and made this decions than wed be pretty much screwed right now. Time will tell how good this movie will be.

Well, since a natural creature like Godzilla can't exist normally, gills are irrelevant, especially considering this article that shows why he doesn't nor ever will need them, food, oxygen, and can bypass the Square Cube Law,and has his powers:

ReplyvfxartistGodzilla 2014 ForumMutos MAY be slightly disappointingNov 5, 2013
My thoughts are this. If Godzilla is accurate or closer to the Godzilla of old, just spruced up, and actually has his atomic breathe, then that will be good enough for me. To worry about Godzilla having a monster to destroy or have a reason to have a Godzilla movie, is just hyper thinking. Let the movie start with an introduction, let him destroy NY, LONDON, and JAPAN. Then have him come back in a sequel and kick ass on some giant monster. If we get a monster, even for a few minutes in this first reboot. Then great. otherwise, its just a waste of time to even worry about how and who the creature is.

ReplyKyeroGodzilla 2014 ForumPossible species group for the 2014 Godzilla!Nov 5, 2013
@YOKOSHAI - Those are in fact gills my friend. If you've ever taken a biology class and studied amphibians or other species which have gills, they're plain to see on Godzilla's neck. The frilled edges are actually microscopically folded surfaces of tissue used to transport blood and also to filter gases such as oxygen to the body. Why?
Because lungs are not powerful enough to sustain life beneath the sea due to how little oxygen actually exists within the waters of our oceans. Even a creature of Godzilla's size must have some kind of oxygen filtration system in place in order to breath underwater. Without it, he will drown.
Remember that this movie is a "realistic" take on the creature. In the old Godzilla movies, Toho never touched on his ability to breath underwater, but that didn't mean that somewhere in Godzilla's biology there wasn't some kind of internal gill-like structure to help him breath. Again, lungs are not suitable for undersea life.
Go do some research on amphibians and other animals that live with gills and check the images as to where the gills are and what they look like. They are in fact gills to anyone with any knowledge of basic animal biology.

As usual, you have nice facts, but according to some people dude those aren't GILLS, but instead scale/armor that seems to look like gills.
Interesting nonetheless.

Well,we need some smaller mutant enemy type(s) that the military can reliably kill at all,and bugs are the best candidate for that position because they fit the whole swarm mentality better than any other living creature. I'm sure the inevitable big bad will be something a bit more unique and strong enough to challenge Godzilla, but is likely separate from the proclaimed "Mutos".
ReplyDurp004Godzilla 2014 ForumMutos MAY be slightly disappointingNov 5, 2013
I think you're confusing realistic with unimaginative as the very thought of a small creature like a mantis or spider growing that large is just as preposterous as an alien coming down from space, or a robot from the future.
Honestly I don't feel the multi armed creature will be in the movie, to show a teaser 2 years before it's done and only showing the creature, what appears to be dead, doesn't really look that good for a chance it has to be in the finished product, especially when I've heard that scene was switched out for the new insect scene in the new 1.
It's not really if they are a challenge as much as just really unimaginative. I mean you can mutate it slightly, but a bug will still be a bug just larger when the movie comes out; unless of course they go the Megalon route and make it humanoid, but highly doubt that.
Just personally really disappointed that we're getting a bug enemy over all the new animals that could have been mutated instead since honestly any bug getting radiated story would sound just as unrealistic as if they went with another newer idea.
Granted this is just my preference as I hate bug enemies and find them to be by far the weakest enemies in all aspects, but it seems they had so many outlets and had their choice of any monster, why not bring out something new?

Remember, Edwards said there would be more than one enemy for the big guy. Wheter this means more MUTO`s of the same kind, or maybe some warrior bug/queen/something entirely different. But he wont be alone. And Edwards wouldnt put in enemies for him that doesnt serve a purpose, they will put up a fight im sure.

@Lyuztaven
They're superhero sequels yes, but they're superhero sequels with under-performing prequels-- namely X-Men. Its most recent films drew the weakest boxoffice of the franchise history. Not good considering ticket prices were cheaper in 2000, when the first film was released. Spider-Man isn't in as tough of a spot, but it's historically known for making less money with each new movie. The competition looks tough, and its nothing to scoff at, but it's not the apocalypse that some fans are making it out to be.
I understand the apprehension because of Pacific Rim, but, realistically, we're not even at a point where we need to start worrying about this kind of stuff. A horde of fans are already blaming WB for poor advertising (largely just because of the time frame) and we don't even know what the ad campaign is. The fact that this is already looking different than Pacific Rim's campaign is promising because, lets face it, it's not Pacific Rim's ad campaign.
I understand fans want sequels and more movies like it, but there's also a hint of ungratefulness in this kind of stress. A sort of self-entitlement for trailers and hunger for more when we haven't even seen the movie.
The chances for a Pacific Rim sequel aren't great, granted, but at least we have it. It's ours and we can cherish it. Meanwhile, we don't even know if Godzilla will be a [similarly] beloved movie. Will we want another one? Chances are it will be pretty good, but there's so many fans getting ahead of themselves and, as a result, misplaced malice and misinformation is being shot without thought.
Worry is one thing, but the trigger happy attitude toward WB, the ad campaign...etc... is largely uncalled for as of right now.

To be fair, the only "realistic" monsters Godzilla has ever faced were:
Kamakuras - praying mantis
Kumonga - spider
Mothra - moth
Megaguirus - dragonfly (prehistoric in nature, but still based on a real ancient dragonfly)
King Kong - ape
Ebirah - lobster
Giant Condor - condor
All of Godzillas other allies/enemies were based off of fantasy creatures or fake dinosaur species. Half of his realistic enemies are in fact insects or arachnids.

From the synopsis I read at Legendary, it could go all kinds of ways. If the leaked trailer I saw is legit (the one with the Oppenheimer narration), then the multi-armed thing was pretty cool looking. I'm guessing again, but it sounded like there would be more than one kaiju. Maybe genetic experiments gone awry, in which case, we'd probably be looking at bugs, other reptilians and even maybe a rodent (or how about a kaiju lab bunny?)
I'm not passing judgment just yet. Even your standard giant insect could be cool depending on what they do with it.
ReplyGreenZilla93Godzilla 2014 Forum2014 Muto(s) discussionNov 4, 2013
Yeah, these "Mutos" if that is their real name, seem like they will be pretty weak in comparison to the big G. But the question isn't so much "How strong will one be?" as much as "How many will there be?"
On a side note, I feel, as do some others, that Muto is either a classification used by the military, similar to how they used Kaiju in Pacific Rim, or possibly just a cover up name being used by WB until the movie comes out.

ReplyTheGMan123Godzilla 2014 Forum2014 Muto(s) discussionNov 4, 2013
Yeah, judging from the size description people gave from the 2013 Comic-Con trailer,it seems that a swarm-based mentality for these guys will be the base of their presence. Also, because these Mutos are likely the numerous small mutant enemies, they'll be the only ones the military can reliably take on with normal weaponry, leaving the big bad to Godzilla himself.
