Godzilla 2014 poster with the soldiers doing a halo jump and below them is Godzilla's spines is my favourite, it looks incredible.

I think the only reason we got such a good look at godzilla was because they wanted to show fans they were keeping the original design. So I don't think we'll get a good look at muto till the movie comes out.

@BigBadBen, My sympathies go out to you and your family.  This was very emotional for me to read.  I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and I will keep your brother in mind the next time I hear Akira Ifukube's "Requiem."  R.I.P. George Chaffins. 

I am very sorry for your loss, but his spirit will never die. There is no such thing as someone being gone forever. His spirit will always be with you and your family. I do believe in God, I also believe in spirits and ghosts. I met my great grandmother once in her spirit form in my kitchen, my mom saw her too. If you believe in God, say a prayer for your brother and to God. Ask him to keep your Brother's spirit safe with him in heaven. I sincerely hope you feel better soon.

I don't think you can put angry souls reincarnating an atomic monster on the same level of splitting a oxygen atom(hmm splitting atoms to make some deadly effect where have I heard that before?) 

My favorite monster & roar would be:

#1.Obsidious, ya ya he's not considerd a "official g-monster" but I like him.

#2. 2014 g-roar, it just sounds like a awesome mix betwen 1954 and 2004 roar-(it's sounds like it to me but mabye not to you)-and it makes me feel enthusiastic.

I don't have a twitter otherwise I totally would.  I just think the entire concept of Twitter (facebook with nothing but statuses) is stupid and I refuse to make one (plus I hate hashtags with a passion)

A facebook page could be a good idea too.  I agree with Tevin too though we know about it they should just show it off.  Heck, it'd be good marketting (which they are severely lacking on since the teaser's release) too!

It's something I've wondered about for years too.  The only thing I can think of is once they changed the roar what they changed it to sounded more like the roar of every Godzilla prior to Godzilla 1984 (except for the original's roar being slightly different) so many they changed it to get back to Godzilla's basics/routes?

I agree though the 84 roar sounded brutal/mean... like I would not want to be anywhere near that thing!

Here is the prototype Godzilla 1989 S.H.MonsterArts figure.  He looks pretty sweet, but personally I'm more excited for the Godzilla 2014 figure!  But since its pretty much certain that both will come out, chances are I'll be getting both, so its only a question of which comes out first!

Easily my favorite monster roar would be that of Titanosaurus. There really is no roar like his. He has such a unique roar that it really does stand out from all of the other monsters. Whenever I hear that maniacal cackle it always puts a smile on my face. 

I honestly have no idea. Wolfguy's reasoning seems plausable, but it's something I've often wondered about myself. I'm not sure what prompted Toho to change it.

I have two favorites: the American Orga roar and the Rose Biollante roar. :)

All I got to say is I love the new design for the big G, his dorsal spines might be small but they might make up for it in the new movie. His feet look just like a meat eating dinosaur feet, isn't what godzilla basiclly is looking back into his origin back before he mutated. At least it looks like the 1954 origonal godzilla and not like '98. His design could of turned out worse, a lot worse.

I think telling everyone to stop whining is a little high-and-mighty of anyone in the fandom.

I like the design myself, but G-Fans have every right to complain about one thing or another in the fandom. Sometimes they can be unreasonable, but I don't think a lot of the complaints are unreasonable. It's like people who complain about the design/suit in Son of Godzilla, for example. A lot of us don't like tht suit or design, but it still looks like Godzilla. I imagine some people feel the same way.

For me? I really like the design. I think the spines could be a little more pronounced and I don't like the feet, but otherwise I really dig it. It's easily Godzilla.

I think the change came about because of the shift in tone. 84 and 89 were on the grittier side, but when it started to become lighter and more fantastical, it changed to a higher pitch for the sake of being more audience friendly.

Personally, I enjoyed all the changes to his roar throughout the years. Though I have agree, 84' had one hell of a roar. Would love to have that mixed with the Millenium version. <3

please, Godzilla looks great, but looks nothing compared to any of the classic godzillas and his spines were always big (except the showa and final wars godzilla). plus, not saying i have a problem with the feet but you and every other godzilla fan have seen the concept designs at comic con,u know that those are nothing close to any of CLASSIC designs. Its just my opinion though, but Godzilla looks GREAT.

I don't mind the feet at all, the spines are fine. This Godzilla is not going to look fake and rubbery...i.e. the spines won't be wobbling around. I agree wholeheartedly with this thread.

They forget that its a children's toy.

Yeah he looks a little squished and toned down because they know five year olds are going to be putting him in their mouth.

While some people's criticisms can go too far, I find it curious how someone can tell others to "stop whining" when they themselves have never seen one good frame of this Godzilla in action.  How can someone be so blindly good with something they haven't even witnessed?  And yes, I would say the same towards anyone who has trashed this Godzilla as well.

For anyone to have an empassioned feeling one way or the other at this point is really jumping the gun.  Let's wait and see how the Big Guy looks in action, how he moves, how he sounds, etc. before we pass final judgement on how awesome or terrible he is.

All I know that I cannot wait to see this movie -- little stubby feet and all.  :)

Also "realism" is a subjective term and it's pretty much irrelivant if there's giant monsters involved which is infact a fantasy in itself which their origins and function can be flexable regardless whether it's mystical or not.

It's not a Black n white discussion.  People like the new look, other do not.. not going to appease everyone every time.. there's two sides to every single 'Godzilla' look out there, I'm sure.

Does not inherently mean that if you're against a new design you're a 'whiner'. I for one, do not like the look of the feet.. that's just My view point.. whether the reasons are asthetic or for practical purposes isn't the point.. I just do not 'like' them.  I certainly ain't going ape shit about it. :)

I also had hoped the fins would be a bit more spread out and not standing straight up... but oh well.. I'll save my final impressions for after I've seen the movie.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here, nor do I understand why you spent so much energy expounding upon the birth of SpaceGodzilla-- something that doesn't need any more detail than it already has.

Toho has never acknowledged that Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah was poorly written, but writer/director Kazuki Omori did leave enough evidence throughout his movies about how it fits together. Was it poorly done? Yes. Does it make less sense than fans believe it does? No. Did Toho acknowledge it was poorly done? No. So I'm not sure what you mean behind that.

As for SpaceGodzilla's origin, I've always been of the mind that Toho should've said less about SpaceGodzilla than we got. Your big genetics explaination is interesting and all, but ultimately doesn't matter. SpaceGodzilla is just a cosmic variation on Godzilla and that's that. It doesn't matter which creature the G-Cells came from and it doesn't really matter how those G-Cells were mutated.

In the case of this thread, people were confused because they believed the events of Godzilla vs. Biollante were erased from time. That's not true, as I've explained and linked above.

Second, his size bieng "fat" Is probably also the case with the spines. Its a child's toy its not meant to faithfully represent Godzilla.

Could it be the release of the graphic novel that was recently announced to relsease soon?
