Godzilla's new design isn't a suit, and it's not a fucked up version that Toho makes complete fun of in more than one Godzilla Movie
I'm really stoked to see what visual effects could turn the King Of Monsters into. Nothing we've seen yet is really valid, the only images that give us a general idea are the ones from the trailer. The toy models aren't officially released yet through the companies partnered with this film and/or Toho (I think they have some sort of involvement with this film, unlike the 1998 one) So therefor, I don't trust the design I seen, if anything it's a rough draft, and if I remember correctly that toy was awaiting approval from the licensor. It's 2014, I seriously don't think they're going to fuck up G's design a second time. Legendary and Warner didn't pick up this movie for the fucks of it, they picked it up because they can see the market value in the franchise. Which leads me to believe this is just the first of modern G films

@ALFOK, Don't worry about that. Zilla's size was so varied and non calculated its ridiculous. One moment his mouth is bigger than a military helicopter, the next moment its the lenght of a taxi.
I honestly don't think i can pick a Godzilla roar that I love more than another! I love them all! But for the other monsters, I've always loved Anguirus, Rodan, the Heisei King Ghidorah (a.k.a. Rodan sped up), Gigan, Kamacuras, Ebirah, Orga, and, last but not least, GABARA! What a great roar he has!
My favourite Godzilla roar is the 1954 roar and any of the roars from the Heisei series. Other monster's roars that I really like are Anguruis, Mothra, King Ghidorah and Ebirah.

I really don't know what to believe so it's 50-50. Take it as it comes.
I'm remaining skeptical. Although the source for this claim also claims to be partnered with Warner Bros., it just seems like a very random date to drop the trailer. I mean it is a Friday, but if they were to release it a few days earlier, it would coincide with the "100 days to go" countdown mark, which I think could be marketed a bit more.
Either way in a week and half we'll find out one way or another.
I'm also going to ask that this be the LAST topic started about the Feb 7th rumor, we don't want to clutter the forums and have a million repeats.
I think Godzilla's new look is awesome and if I was to design the new Godzilla that's is what I would make him look like.

The next trailer should come soon. If it doesn't come in February then it will definitely come out in March.
Yeah, see the thing is....I want to see what the MUTOs look like but at the same time I don't want to spoil anything and I want to see them for the 1st time on the big screen so it can come as surprise.
Seriously now, I have no idea what to expect. I sure hope we get something, but it just doesn't seem cut and dry enough for me. One person says the sources can't be trusted, but another person says it can. I'm skeptical, so I'll wait for conformation and/or February 7th to see. But that said, I'm getting tired of waiting for official stuff about this film to come out.
I honestly have no clue, people claimed the guy who made up the dec 10 rumor was right and this is the same guy, so imma have to be neutral on this rumor

Kids can hurt themselves with spikes like the actual Gojira in the films. That's why only collectible items and a few others have the larger sized spikes on it. They put out shortened spikes for kids. Parents won't allow their young kids to get the large sized spikes anyways. Plus, the toy design they released isn't a collectible. So there ya go
I love how alot of people now start saying how true this is after it is pointed out what they were complaining about...they wanted Zilla all along...traitors...jk

I know, but the spines are still comparatively smaller to other Godzilla designs. Take a look at the poster. Their bigger than the toy by a substantial margin, but still smaller than the spines of most Godzilla suits. That's what I was talking about.

I don,t mind the spines too be small Edwards wants his Godzilla too be liek the 1954,s so the spines are okay in the movie there going too be big not big not too small but the spines on Godzilla for the toys are going too be small or not.

The spines for Godzilla are perfect Godzilla,s size is perfect 350 feet tall is perfect for the king,s return and the feet hands and tail awesome!
The 1998 Godzilla film, just looking at it as a generic Monster Movie, was fairly good. The main problem is indeed the stupid American Military and that the monster was called Godzilla despite not being one. Its look was cool and I think it could have worked had the monster the same Gojira abilities in addition to its other traits.
As for the impact on the upcoming American Godzilla, it did show what to do and not do for American-fying Godzilla. The TriStar folks went the wrong direction with a more realistic desgin. Legendary Pictures, like what I would do, took the classic Gojira and pondered on how to make it more realistic yet dangerous/powerful. While Zilla was cool looking it had 0 Gojira designs traits. The American Godzilla keeps the basic Gojira traits yet make the overall design better.
Basically the American Zilla and its film was a proto-type or experiment, from that the American Godzilla will sure to be victorious, both in combat and by being loved by the fans.
I agree with you 100% Daikaiju. Keep into consideration some people are never pleased no matter how hard the Director tries.
HAHAHAHA!!!! :D Well said! I've just about had it up to here with people complaining about what is obveously a great design. Zilla wasn't Godzilla-ey, enough (a.k.a. AT ALL!), so this movie promised a Godzilla true to the original, but designed with some realistic aesthetics. And guess what... that's EXACTLY what they did! That said, here's what I have to say to add to what you already layed out:
#1: Too Fat-skinny Godzilla=not good. 'nuff said. See the Heisei design, people. It works.
#2: Stupid Feet-here is one of those realistic aesthetics at work. A creature that large needs stump-like feet in order to not only move without shattering it's toes, but to hold its massive frame up. Plus, they don't look bad at all!
#3: Small Spines-not only did the Shodaigoji Godzilla design (from 1954) have smaller spines than most of the future designs, this is another realistic change. If the spines are an extention of his own spinal chord, like all spined dinosaurs (the Spinosaurus comes to mind) were, than any trauma to them would cause massive spinal damage. It has been theorized that one reason the Spinosaurs went extinct is because their delicate spines were TOO delicate. Even falling over could damage them, thereby paralizing or even killing them instantly due to spinal damage. As we all know, Godzilla does a lot of falling in the movies, which should hurt him quite a bit. Smaller spines means less damage can be dealt to Godzilla in this film.
Just the facts, man. :)
I think this is the best design of a Godzilla. And I don't his spines are too small, his feet are kind of cool looking, and He doesn't look fat, he looks muscular.
I agree. And the spines arent that small, as we have seen in the trailer. I like that he is fat, and i love the feet.
