the gas just seems boring for a movie that will use A LOT of cgi, fire seems better than gas but thats stereotypical. thats like chaning the energy beams from dragonball and turning it into coloured air.... oh wait that already happened. i'm pretty sure that toho stated using a beam because the advancment of special/visual effects, plus as i keep saying a modern audience would prefer a beam over steam.
@GodzillaFan1995, Do you mean "properties?" And I have to disagree with a beam, because this is not a Toho Godzilla therefore they probably won't go with a beam. They will probably go in the direction of a gas like the original and it will be used as more of a short range defense-mechanism. The reason I say that is because Edwards had stated that the fights would be like that of actual animals, not like the Toho fights that we're used to seeing.

On a side note a lot of the companies who did have trailers during the game did something smart... they only showed 30 seconds of their new full trailer (ala Spiderman 2 and Captain America 2) and instead had a message at the end saying go to this site to watch the full trailer. That was a creative way to get a new trailer out while not spending as much money on a commercial.
No telling on whether or not it will be profitable enough for a sequel, however I don't think $200-$240 million is outside the realm of possibility. If it makes that the international box office should do the rest. Hopfully this will be a bigger hit in Japan than Pacific Rim was... But it seems Japan is really sick of Godzilla and the genre it birthed.
^Indeed. It was a boring game. Nearly a blowout. Ratings suggest that attendance dropped a great deal right before the second half ended. I'm willing to bet all these companies that footed the bill for these TV spots were just hoping people were still watching...
when i mean the melting propaties i mean, you have the beam from gxmg and you upgrade the heat propaties, with the beam itself being so hot that it incinerates anything in contact of the beam and the heat 'around' the beam being hot enough to melt rocks and metal.
yeah, no offesnse and not being mean but this topic has been done like 5 times, like i have said the beam is the best one, a realistic vapour breath is boring, it would be dragonball evolution all over again. also you could combine the melting propaties of the vapour breath with the explosive beam to give a breath with a realitic effect.

I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but for most people... Drawing is fun. Even if the MUTOs bear no resemblance to this particular vision of the creature, DEMPLEX will have a wonderful sketch and be able to admire how efficiently his imagination can creating something from almost nothing.
In my books: That's something to admire, not something to pointlessly criticize.
if anything they should use the technique that andy serkis and peter jackson use (the name of it escapes me at the moment) so godzilla would a more human element if thats what toho wants. we cant use straight up suits for this movie because none of todays audience will take it seriously
I still think it's fake, I could have made this, it's not hard at all. There's even a clear default color outer glow on the symbol, I high doubt you'll ever see it like that in a real movie poster. I just don't know how to explain the Amazon thing LOL
They should use suitmation but they wont because the glimpses were cgi and cgi can do much more than suits
As i seee it, im hoping for atleast a moderate succes at the box office, gets alot of positive reviews and gets one, or three more sequels, i couldnt ask for more (Dont make a trilogy plz)

A little early for all of this, but even if the film is excellent I think its a little unrealistic to expect this to get any top awards (acting, directing, best film, etc) due to bias against blockbusters/special effects heavy films....but does anyone else have high expectations for the films music score? Alexander Desplat has been nominated for best original score 6 times (including this year). I'm really curious as to what he does for Godzilla - especially whether or not he incorparates any of the original themes.(please!)
There will still be an award bias against Godzilla even in the film score category (music nods often mirror the best picture nominees) but I think if there is a chance its nominated in a non-special effects category, film score could be it.

I've been told that the super bowl was boring as heck and it sucked, so I think Im glad the second Godzilla trailer was not put in it. It deserves better.

@KYERO even if you are a photoshop pro, anotehr photoshop pro can make images look insanely good and real so its hard to tell.
and it's real, it's part of the godzilla toy merch on amazon, we've already seen this same pose and same godzilla picture so I don't really care about this one

How many scripts have you read? I've read a few hundred in my life and they were all written as bad or worse than this. Just because it seems silly or stupid to you doesn't mean thats not how scripts are written.
My person experience with script writing classes really; they say really 'sensationalize' how you write. If you've ever read the the script for the first transformers film, you'd be laughing out loud. Its so sensationalized and over-dramatically written. That is purposefully done to paint a dramatic picture.
There is nothing unprofessional about this script, its how they are written. I doubt it is real, but this person obviously has read a bunch of scripts.
And no, normal grammar rules do not apply to scripts writing.
There will be no Toho Kaiju in this movie besides Godzilla himself. That has been confirmed numerous times throughout the years and the idea that two lesser known and not very well liked Kaiju like Kumonga and Kamakura would be brought into this film are slim to none.
I know a lot of people want to see revisions of Toho Kaiju, but here's a fact that none of them want to hear: Not all Kaiju age well or deserve to be revisited with modern technology or filming techniques.
None of the Toho Kaiju besides Godzilla himself deserve to be recreated in my eyes. They all have their place in the Toho archives and in the movies that we know and love so much. But that's also just it: They should stay there. The Toho lineup doesn't need a revision, revival, or revisit. Godzilla is more than enough on his own. Despite how cool some of the Toho Kaiju are, they don't deserve a spot in the Legendary franchise, nor do they even need to be revisited at all. They're fine the way they are.

We know you like flexing your intellectual muscle here, but if you really wanted to prove you're smart, why don't you go to an academia oriented forum and converse amongst those mental giants and leave us mental dwarves alone.

It is in fact photoshopped, and the lower image was created by a member on this site actually. I can't remember what they're name is, but they're here and they posted about it a few times before.
I get what you mean KYERO, but it just seems eye-like to me. It could might aswell be absolutely nothing. But then again, with that shot i had very little to work with. There was just that little tidbit.
As with most, I'm skeptical about the legitimacy of this being for the film. If it's legit, it's for a toy.
But for those who think that it's photoshopped, look again. There's no clear lines, no obviously bent or warped segments. Nothing. The image itself doesn't seem photoshopped at all. I'm no expert at using it, since I only do basic editing with shadows and stacking images from time to time, but still I'm not seeing anything photoshopped about that image. If anyone who is an expert on photoshop can comment on this, and I mean someone who has used it for years and has a background in photography of a true professional nature and not just another kid saying "I use it all the time so I'm pro!", that'd be great.
Well, I can't say I'm not impressed by the devotion to rumors.
Still, that shot with the train doesn't have an eyeball. It only takes a single simple look to see that it's solid flesh/hide/(insert word for skin here). There is no eyeshine, no pupil, nothing that indicates an eye of any kind. Even taking the imagine and sharpening it mutliple times led to nothing but the same solid color as the rest of its flesh. I know everyone wants to believe that's a face, but it's not. It could be any part of the MUTO's biology. The simple fact is that whomever called that the MUTO's face was jumping to conclusions after seeing what they wanted to see.
As for the rest of it, they seem fairly accurate and most of them make decent sense given the situations surrounding them (save for the MUTO "face" that's not a face).
Still, it's fun to come up with different theories for each image and each sequence in the trailer. I'm wondering if anyone else will go to the trouble of doing something like this.
Not to be rude, but what is this speculation based on again?
If it's that convenient "what was the name of the production during filming?" question that's fueling your speculation, then you're following a theory that was created and based on zero fact colletion efforts and zero evidence collection. The only thing that remotely hints that there could be a sea creature MUTO based on a Nautilus is that one of the MUTO's is multi-limbed, but that's not nearly enough evidence to support such a theory when so many other creatures and possibilities fall into that category.
There are four important facts that point to the MUTOs being land/air based creatures and not aquatic.
One, the numerous pictures of the sink holes. Two, none of the information leaks or shots in the trailer point to uniquely aquatic locations or settings. Three, the fact that both of the teasers were showing land based enemies. And four, the official information given thus far in the toys confirms a MUTO with wings.
The teasers weren't final in any way, that's true, but the fact that no aquatic creatures were shown or even hinted of in either one of them, let alone the official trailer, doesn't bode well for an aquatic MUTO. Sure the argument could be made that "they're trying to surprise us," but that's an incredibly flimsy argument and it has no evidence to support it that actually has merit.
Just sayin'.
