Viewers of the Godzilla 2014 teaser footage at Comic-Con 2012 claim to have seen curled insect legs... lots of them as the smoke rises and we pan upwards to see a faint image of Godzilla's head as he lets out a thunderous roar - the iconic Godzilla roar.
More information and images will be released later on - be sure to check back here for those updates!

if my memory recalls that the centipede insects were featured in the begining of Rodan it might be Godzilla's foe ...food for thought

It's gonna have other monsters besides the caterpiller monster *sits and waits for someone who haven't seen the trailer, to tell me I'm wrong*

They should introduce new monsters as well as bring back some of the fan favorites like Gigan, King Ghidorah, and maybe a new Mecha Godzilla.

KING KAIJUMay 11, 2013
when i googled godzilla 2014 it said they were going to intoduce 2 new monsters to the film. i think thats cool because usually when godzilla comes back from hiatus there is no monsters. i hope the new monsters have a cool design like gigan and not something bland like gorosaurus. i hope the fights are long unlike in final wars.
KING KAIJU
1 small step for kaiju
1 giant step for godzilla!!!!

One thing I hope the makers of the movie understand is this: Do not try to make us die-hard fans feel sorry for the humans! They tried to make us cheer for the 'triumph' of the humans in 1998's crap version when they killed Godzilla on the bridge. All I hoped for was to see Godzilla kick their ass. Yes, there can be human drama but I will never walk out of the theatre saying, 'Boy, I'm sure glad Godzilla bought it in the end cause those poor people...' Sure I sound crazy, but who of you out there doesn't think the same thing? WE LOVE GOJIRA! Face it.

If this is going to be a trilogy, I reckon the first should focus on mutated monsters from Earth, (Maybe Megalon, but without Gigan, I don't feel like Megalon works by himself). I can only think of... Anguirus.
The second should be about humans fighting back Pacific-Rim-Style (could be a crossover) with Mechagodzilla, but inevitably failing at the end because Godzilla is just too powerful.
The third should be a Destroy All Monsters/Final Wars remake with some alien race trying to take over the world with King Ghidorah and Gigan as their WMD's. Anguirus could return, this time as an ally, but die by Gigan. If Godzilla dies somehow after beating Gigan and King Ghidorah, he needs a son to live on.
Just saying, Anguirus as an enemy would be so true to the original Godzilla series and it would be a perfect set-up for him to come back in a later movie as an ally.

The "centipede" (what im gonna call it) sedms pretty swaggalicious but they have to have gigan or some other original monster that everybody loves not like titanasorus

This is a good time to introduce a brand new badd ass monster/alien/robot/insect thing. Yeah the old monsters are cool, but there are a ton of G movies with them. This is a new era for godzilla.

How About godzilla fight A monster named Gigantis
A monster look alike godzilla but with big horn in his head!!!

You guys have to understand that as a writer, the story depends on the human interaction, and since the main star of the movie is a giant rampaging monster whose only dialogue is "roar," there have to be a lot of supporting actors/actresses to give the movie direction. Another role of the humans is to either contrast humanity and monsters, which they did best in the original "Gojira" and "Godzilla 2000," or their goal is to sympathize with the monster and understand that they must find a way to co-exist with it. You must remember that Godzilla is and always will be a parable for nuclear weapons.
Gareth Edwards said that he was going to make the movie more realistic, and at first I thought that meant only making Godzilla do things that could exist in the realm of reality, which would mean taking away his fire-breath! But then I started thinking, "Maybe what he means is he'll make the human reaction to a giant monster more realistic, with MASCAS and bringing scientists wearing hazmat suits into heavily irradiated areas." From what I've seen so far, this seems to be the case.
All of that aside, I am really excited for this new movie, and think I speak for everyone when I say: "SHOW US THE FUCKING TEASER TRAILER FROM COMIC-CON!"

I agree notmacklemore. I believe this is more like Man Of Steel where the question arises of how we would truly react to a super-being. Here Godzilla will still be Godzilla, atomic breath and all, but how we humans would react in reality to such a creature can be shown in a very realistic way. Especially capturing our fear and confusion. I especially agree with the showing of the trailer, which I have made no secret about being disappointed in Legendary for not releasing it. Yes, I know the business aspect of it, but I still disagree with holding it back. In the end it is us hardcores that drive the biz, baby. Again, I also hope that the makers of the movie remember that for the most part, if we die-hards are honest, our sympathies and cheers go to the monster all day long! Let the humans get crunched! lol

@agodzillafreak
Those bug things were Meganula and Meganulon. They're what mutated into Megaguirus. Godzilla already fought them.
As to thoughts for the monster, with a centipede they could be revisiting the old "Gigamoth" idea that became Battra. Could be a cool introduction to a new series. Finalize an old concept that they never quite managed to get out there originally. The Gryphon idea would be cool, but Gryphon was planned to be in the American Godzilla. It could also be one of the many other unmade Godzilla monsters, potentially Deathla since Godzilla 2014 took the place of the IMax that was scheduled for 2007.

I think in terms of Godzilla fighting another monster we must remember that this is, #1, a reboot, not a continuation of old stuff. #2 Any monster he fights won't be the whole movie. It will be a 'part' of the movie but all indications show this to be way more like the original Gojira. Gareth Edwards has said that. Any thoughts of having an old style Godzilla vs whoever, well, it 's more than likely not gonna happen. At least not now. Toho may make their own old style movie, according to sources ,which will give us die-hards something to talk about but this is purely about what a force of nature Godzilla is. How destructive of a force he is. More than likely any other monster contact will be 'incidental'. Perhaps a nod to us die-hards but it has been much stated that this movie is monster vs human. Maybe Toho will continue the VS line of thinking! Who knows? I guess I'm just saying that they aren't thinking like us. There probably will be easter eggs in the movie and a few nods but we can't be looking for what was.

Giant insects need a giant fly swat maybe Godzilla could fight another kind of mutant dinosaur, a different species of Godzilla?

-Treveasy- June 21, 2013
Just be better than his last movie monsters that movie was very dissapointing it was kinda good but there was barely any monster action and when the monsters did come out they tied there tentacles together and walked away happily ever .Thats not a monster movie if it had a different name then it would have been much better but because it wasnt what i expected at all it sucked too me so please mr.gareth do a good job with this
I LIKE CHEESE
Jackson HaysJune 22, 2013
well since we haven't seen Godzilla fight a monster for a decade it would be awsome to see godzilla fight monsters agian. It would be better if they have new monsters for godzilla to fight but if it was sucsessful and had sequels then put the other famous monsters to fight King Gidorah? Mothra Rodan

jagenJuly 06, 2013
Seriously, I'm just like all of you and since I can literally remember I've been a Godzilla freak. I was a kid in the early seventies and remember it very well. Loved it. Ran home from school to not miss Godzilla week....however, please know that with the greatest respect to our nostalgic past, while there will be a nod here and there to the old, there is absolutely NO way Gareth is making an old school battle film here. No aliens, no Monster Island, no Godzilla talking to Angilus,...etc. This is a rework of the original and while there may be other monsters in it, more than likely they will be a part of the background. Imagine that whatever creates Godzilla offshoots to other things but certainly not any focus. This is Gojira and humans. And believe me I love the old but it GUARANTEED will not happen that way. Think about it. It would instantly relegate it to a kids film. No way Legendary is doing that.
RexrumblerJuly 09, 2013
Something original, not another Mechagodzilla that should be sayed for sequels.

The Last Kaiju MasterJuly 27, 2013
Personally I think it would be interesting to have a new monster. One idea I just thought of: What do you guys think of the idea of a cyborg that was created by both humans and aliens. Question is where would they get organic parts for it?
Also I think it would be awesome to have an ancient, non dinosaur, monster (example: Leviathan, Fenrir, Behemoth, etc.) Something from known mythology.

G-RaaJuly 30, 2013
They'll definitely make a new monster since Legendary Pictures only has the right to use Godzilla from Toho. As for what type, i'd like to see something aquatic, maybe an natural predator or prey for Godzilla. It would be nice if it was maybe large than him, to present a challenge, and had 2 or 3 smaller minions for him to fight.
ProtoantonioJuly 31, 2013
The original "Gojira" had human drama, it is important to see how this force of nature afects us. If this is lost then at one point the true scale and the stakes will be pointless.
As i understand it Edwards is going for a feel more similar to the original film (please no Raymond Burr-ish characters...), and i am fine with it as long as i get the REAL godzilla, the one that fights monsters because he's territorial and that's it. we just get "saved" because he's saving us for last.
And by the things i've heard about the trailer from this year's comicon... Let's just say i am more than intrigued.
jagenAugust 04, 2013
I agree 100% protoantonio. that is the true spirit in which it is intended. I have no problem him fighting other monster..look forward to it, but only because they are in his way. I like the idea of a force of nature and we created it.
pwerlvlamyAugust 05, 2013
I'd definitely be interested in some new monsters, but at the same time my nostalgia wants to see some old monsters brought back lol
G fan 84August 06, 2013
I realy dont think GODZILLA's gonna fight anything i feel the movie is gonna be like RODAN smaller monsters menacing humans then the Gman shows up and becomes the true threat.though the red and black whatever painted on the building in sandiego may be a clue to a second and awsome new monster.

GodzillasaurusAugust 06, 2013
@G FAN 84, what is this based on? There is no proof that all of Godzilla's opponents will be tiny insects. Legendary must know what the fans want. We want an epic final battle! Not some "giant mommy lizard getting destroyed by 10 missiles" climax, but an epic final fight between Godzilla and the (hopefully) big and awesome main antagonist.
gofirafan137August 11, 2013
i think they need those 2 new monsters.i want those 2 new monsters to be two giant sea monsters.

shankster28September 16, 2013
I never really cared about the big bug monsters like kumonga. they've always been my least favorite kaiju. its like an easy route out when they cant think of something original "lets just do another big bug"

Gojira 2014September 17, 2013
No Mecha-Godzilla?! Oh hell no. Mecha-Godzilla would be perfect for a Pacific rim and Godzilla crossover.
I have become death.......the casher at the donut shop.......

Durp004September 25, 2013
As long as they don't do another Mothra, MechaG, or Ghidorah I don't really care what they choose, but there are some monsters godzilla's fought way to many times to make them into another movie.
2012molonSeptember 25, 2013
I want the monsters in the film obsidius and krystalak because we have never seen them before in a Godzilla movie
godzillafan42September 27, 2013
I know there was a rumor that the art for the monsters was leaked and im sure most of you saw them as 1 looked like a mutated ant eater, and the other looked like a bulky rhinoceros. I'm sure those aren't going to the enemies, and i'm very happy as i wasn't a fan of them when i saw them.

Gojira 2014September 27, 2013
hmmmmm there is no evidence that anybody here knows who the two new monsters are. Guess well have to go to the movie theatre on may 16 to find out! ^_^

ShowaGiganOctober 06, 2013
well if you want gigan back that would be awesome, I think the story should go. The new threat of godzilla catches the eye of an alien race that has conquering worlds, so they unleash there giant cyborg monster upon earth to end Godzilla only to have there plan fail at the end. Or ! the aliens could just be trying to conquer the world using gigan and godzilla comes to eradicate the threat .... not to save the humans, but to just kill the aliens

Manthony HiggsOctober 11, 2013
I'm always glad to see new faces get added to the godzilla gang. A well designed bug monster would be super creepy!
