Fascination w/ Godzilla and Godzilla franchise Kaiju . . .

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2017 3:54 PMI started my Godzilla fascination around when Godzilla 2014 had been officially announced in the media. Originally I hadn't depicted myself with any particular franchise . . . meanwhile everyone else around me was fanboying or fangirling w/ either Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Marvel and/or DC Universes (Superman, Iron Man, Thor, Spiderman, Deadpool ect. ect.) Anime and/or Manga (Naruto, One Piece, Dragonball). And found it incredibly frustrating because I couldn't related to anyone on the subject, because I didn't have time or interest to immerse myself into a incredibly complicated franchise and not to mention the fan communities which is also complex in itself.
Back to Godzilla . . . before the arrival of Godzilla 2014 I had watch the original 1954 Godzilla and was interested in how Godzilla 2014 was gonna play out. I expressed my interest to other people and basically their response was basically "pfft Godzilla . . . kinda boring isn't it?" and was somewhat disappointed with their lack of interest because I was rather excited about it. The released date of May 16, 2014 came and I watched it and was amazed (despite the small screentime Godzilla has). Soon I started collecting what merchandise I could afford associated with Godzilla 2014 and later Shin Godzilla, and started watching all the previous Godzilla films released in Japan.
Now my parents . . . who were baffled at my sudden interest in Godzilla couldn't understand why a young woman like myself was associated with "monsters" (as they dubbed it). I had mentioned various things why I like the Godzilla franchise:
1. I don't ever have to worry about how Godzilla's latest appearance is gonna be depicted, like people aren't gonna rant how there is another female protagonist in Star Wars or how a anime character was whitewashed in their latest American Live Action counterparts such as Death Note or Ghost in the Shell. Its Godzilla after all, and everything about Godzilla is gonna be awesome either way.
2. I don't ever have to worry about Godzilla being in a abusive sexual relationship or a romantic relationship in generally, because he/she is a independent monster! And romance doesn't really apply to monsters after all. So I don't have to worry about a romance subplot (or watching a underwear/shirtless scene or erotic make out/kissing session to appeal to the audience) being attached to Godzilla. Monsters don't need that pointless stuff associated with them!
3. Unlike other franchises which you have characters you like or don't like or are just a annoying fanservice. I personally like all the monsters in the Godzilla franchise like Godzilla him/herself, Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah, Space Godzilla, MUTO, Mothra Leo, Biollante ect. ect.
4. Godzilla is powerful and recognizable! Not to mention he/she could either be depicted as a heroic force like Godzilla 2014 or a chaotic destructive force like Shin Godzilla and either way you'll always be rooting for Godzilla in some way!
So there you have it -- I'm a Godzilla fan now and forever! And much appreciation for TOHO and the people who've created Godzilla! And cannot wait for Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters and the American BLU-RAY release of Shin Godzilla!~
