MemberMothra LarvaeSep-10-2015 4:55 PMWe heard a few rumblings of this last year, but Deadline has now confirmed that King Kongwill take on Godzilla in a monster mash-up movie from both Legendary and Warner Bros... eventually!
The plan is for Legendary to release their upcoming King Kong: Skull Island flick - which still doesn't have an official title apparently - through WB, who will move forward with their sequel to Gareth Edwards' Godzilla reboot, and then the next film after that would combine the characters for what will surely be an epic brawl. So although it might be quite some time before we see that movie, Deadline does stress that things are moving "very quickly".
Obviously we've seen these two mighty monsters fight before in 1962's King Kong VS. Godzilla, but that was a couple of guys in rubber suits - how exactly is it going to work with these new incarnations when one is supposed to be about 20 times the size of the other?

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-10-2015 5:21 PMDefinitely false. There is no proof to back this up other than someone on a website saying that the two kaiju will duke it out. We would've heard something from Warner Bros. and Legendary in this matter, not to mention Universal. So whoever wrote the article is probably another troll like that one guy from KDramaStarz. I just can't see Legendary Godzilla battling King Kong, it takes all the realism out from the world Gareth Edwards has created.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-10-2015 6:04 PMConsidering the fact that Legendary is involved with both Godzilla and Kong through the Skull Island movie, it is not out of the realm of possibility for some discussion and rumor to be had regarding a GvK remake. It can be a stand-alone film where you simply make Kong bigger, reduce Godzilla in size a bit so that their more evenly matched, and let them go at it.
The Godzilla used in the movie does not necessarily have to be from Edwards universe either. Batman v. Superman coming out next year does not feature the Christian Bale Batman from Christopher Nolan but rather

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-10-2015 6:08 PMSorry..got cut off. Meant to say that the Batman in next years Batman v. Superman is not from same universe as Nolan's but a different version.. A new King Kong vs. Godzilla could work.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-10-2015 6:10 PMThey could connect them and could explain both kong's size and skull island easily using godzilla radiation being on the island and Godzilla faught another monster, killed it, and it's skull makes the skull of skull island

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-10-2015 6:15 PMI think to put these to up against each other again, there shouldn't be any box offices worries, this filn for all we know could break records like Jurassic World did, as far as I remember no one expected the amount of money Jurassic World made!
let me get this straight this is Godzilla and King Kong were talking about two of the biggest cinema icons ever going up against each other in a moderned day CGI remake of these two icons going to war, I'd drive up to Hollywood to see that even if I wasn't a fan of these characters because of who they are and what they mean

MemberBaragonSep-10-2015 6:54 PMI'm taking this with a grain of salt for now. It is highly possible that it could happen. However, until I hear it from Gareth Edwards or even August Ragone, I'm not jumping to hype level just yet.

Something Real
MemberGodzillaSep-10-2015 8:05 PMMNJARO - This is extremely interesting news! However, I must posit this question: how is a 7.7m gorilla going to have any chance against a 100.5m primordial beast? I find the premise to be somewhat, hmm, strained. Unless King Kong manages to grow quite a bit or is accompanied by a whole troop of his kind, I do not believe he has a chance of surviving an encounter with Godzilla. Food for thought. :)

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-11-2015 5:00 AMThis has the potential to be the greatest monster movie ever made, and it could just as easily be garbage... We will just have to wait and see if there is any truth behind these rumors.
