MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 7:01 PMFirst and foremost, I want to apologize for my past behavior here on this site, any behavior that wasn't whats expected of me as a memeber. It won't happen again, even if I'm a bit irked. My job is to provide interesting discussions for everyone or share engaging news and updates, its as simple as that so I'll stick to what I'm good at while being as respectful as I can to everyone I encounter from this moment onward.
Now then. If anyone has seen the gameplay for Godzilla Smash3, the upcoming mobile game adaptation to the film, you've probably seen what the in game atomic breath looks like. Do you think it'll be exactly the same in the film or will it be completely different? What realistic spin could Gareth put onto Godzilla's most iconic attack? Will it be nerfed, or will it be more devastating, perhaps like an atomic napalm? Don't be afraid to get creative :]

*SPOILERS AHEAD*
They say it would be somewhat napalm like. Like you said in the topic earlier
*SPOILERS END*
I honestly think it will be pretty devastating. Considering the fact that it's nuclear energy combined into one focused beam.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 7:12 PMI did a quick google/youtube search of the *spoiler* and I'm still not quite sure what that would like coming out of Godzillas mouth lol As long as it's blue and visible I'll probably end up liking it.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 7:17 PMI think the breath attacks will be weaker than in previous films (no shooting monsters into outer space or anything like that). But I think it will still be strong enough to finish the job agains the Muto, who won't have insane durability.
I think the breath will still be beam like, but maybe not a straight column of energy. Maybe less controlled, like wavy or pulsing, or stray particles spraying off in a mist away from the main beam, or something.
The biggest difference, I think will be the mechanic of how often it can be used. He won't be able to just shoot it whenver like previous (especially Heisei) Godzillas. I imagine it only being an ability that activates due to high stress, and has some kind of drawback or cooldown, which will discourage overuse.
I personally imagine Godzilla getting beat down by the Muto's, just like the Mutos have beat down Godzilla's in the past. But this Godzilla, unlike past Godzillas, has the atomic breath ability (perhaps developed as a result of our 1954 tests)....and in a last ditch act of desperation, Godzilla uses it to vanquish the Mutos...to the Mutos surprise and peril.
I think that would be a cool camera shot, Godzilla on the ground, getting wailed upon, and his fins start to light up, and the Muto eyes widen in a "What the hell???" sort of way, and then FWOOSH!!! IN DA FACE!!!!!
Anyways, that's just me. I don't actually know. I'm actually glad I don't know, unlike the new Spiderman movie where there isn't a surprise left in the thing.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 7:20 PM@MADISON - I can see that last bit happening. I can see it a litle too well D: You should have put a spoiler alert before that paragraph lol!

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 7:22 PMI wonder if he can make a mushroom cloud with it. That would look nice and terrifying to the main cast.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 7:28 PMBased on the iamge and toy I think godzilla's mouth might also open up wider then previous movie's so godzilla couldn't harm himself.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 7:35 PM@MAGGLESHACKLE - No. Please....not the whole Orga thing. That was too much. My body wasn't ready for it. Its not sexy...its not sexy like it should be.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 7:51 PMWow not like that god no! I mean like how a snake might open it's mouth to eat it's prey, but in godzilla's case he's shooting an atomic breath.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-28-2014 5:06 AMI think his breath will look like smoke and will cause immediate death if directly contacted, or delayed death or radiation sickness if inhaled. I don't believe it will ignite supercharged explosions like we have seen in the past. Also, I think two things will happen upon usage: (1) all atomic energy will be absorbed from the area (so cell-phones etc will discontinue to work). (2) it will disrupt all technology on contact, therefore planes and ships will cease to operate (which may explain why the planes are falling from the sky in the trailers). The most important things about his breath is his ability to use it and that his back lights up when he does.

MemberTitanosaurusApr-28-2014 6:10 AMI'm thinking that it ought to be adjustable to what degree it'll burn everything around it. Think something only needs to be set on fire ala the original film? Napalm. Wanna burn a hole straight through something? Classic beam. Why shouldn't he be able to control it? The way I see it, energy consumption isn't the issue. It's the intense heat from creating plasma to a degree no human could ever hope to replicate, as well as gathering the necessary gases for such a task.
The more powerful and burning-a-hole-through-the-Earth-worthy, the more charge-up time (visible by way of his gills and dorsal spikes lighting up) needed. With increasing power, the stream's "exit" from his mouth will creating a larger and brighter flash, akin to that of the mushroom cloud of a nuclear weapon's detonation. Think about it. When we see his stream of plasma encased in a radioactive stabilizing field come out, it looks like there's gonna be a mini-nuclear-explosion coming out.
Anyways, those are my ideas.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-28-2014 6:42 AMKind of don't want an atomic beam in the film. I was in Target the other day and was playing around with the atomic beam Godzilla a bit. And it looks alot like the kaiju blue projectile stuff the PR kaiju shoot. Looks like gunk. Could be the way the toy was made, though.

GODZILLA HIMSELF
MemberMothra LarvaeApr-28-2014 8:21 AMi think that the breath istself will be similar to some of the beams in the millenium series. adjustable, maybe maybe not. but as for how it will be different, i think that it will be accompanied by an emp, which woudl explain things like the planes and the whole "send us back to the stone age thing". i can also see some kind of powerfull pulse or wave emmitted when he first fires the breath, kind of like gmk but maybe more powerfull.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-28-2014 11:45 AMChris actually interviewed the developers, and they said they used the EXACT model and exact breathe effect in the movie because the studio gave it to them. (There was an ingame image of godzilla using his breathe, very beam like)
So we are possibly just looking at the more beam like devestating breathe, more classic 90's type. It's no mystery, the interview was right on this website. Whoever asked that question I have to thank you.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-28-2014 2:29 PMGiven what we know about Godzilla's breath, I think it's a fair presumption that it's going to be different than we've seen before.
We know from the toy descriptions that Godzilla can focus his atomic energy into a beam, but that leaves a few questions to be answered, which in turn create a few more.
First of all, how much of his energy is required to create the beam? If there is a minimum amount required, it could potentially leave Godzilla exhausted and weak. If it does not require a substantial amount of his nuclear power and thus his energy, then how powerful can it become on a weaker power source?
Also, other questions are: How does it work? What is the biological pathway of energy within his body that it must travel? Does it start somewhere specific such as his gullet, or some special sack within his throat or chest? If so why do his spines glow (if they do here in this movie, but we know they glowed in the Toho eras). What is the function of his spines in the whole pathway of energy?
I have a few theories about it, and I believe the primary purpose of his spines (if they function the same way they do in the Toho era) is as a filtration system. In much the same way a Spinosaurus or a Dimetrodon likely regulated body heat with the sails on their backs, Godzilla's spines could serve as both a heat regulation system and a filtration system for the atomic energy coursing through his body.
When he focuses the energy, it passes through his spinal column and excess energy is released in the form of light (and therefore heat), hence the glow. Again, this is going off what we saw in the Toho eras and based off of the hope that his spines will glow in this movie.
The questions, answers, and further questions can go on and on, but I'll stop there. It's more fun to contemplate these things silently to oneself rather than finding answers from other people. But hey, if you guys want to take a stab at finding answers to these questions, and any further questions that result, go for it.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-02-2014 12:18 PMIf they really want to create a realistic Godzilla, his Beam will be more like … explosive Vomit … only blue and radioactive … like Otachis from Pacific Rim. Or, it will look like the Dragonfire from the movie "Reign of Fire".
