MechaGodzilla in the sequel

I was watching the trailer earlier and the part with the Godzilla skeleton hit me. A Godzilla skeleton was used for the basis of MechaGodzilla (Kiryu) in the 2000's movies. Does anyone else think that may be a subtle nod/hint at humans building a MechaGodzilla in either the sequel or the next movie?
Just throwing it out there :) Pacific Rim also put the idea in my head
Eh, seems far-fetched. We don't really know if it's a Godzilla skeleton, it could be a Muto for all we know. And Gareth Edwards said he was trying to make the movie as realistic as possible. So the possibility of a 350-foot-tall-giant-mecha being constructed is very slim.
Yeah I'm with AMERIGOJI, as cool as it would be it wouldn't fit with the tone of the new series
@AMERIGOJI there is an article that confirms that the skeleton is Goji's. Plus compairing the skeleton and the Muto figure they look nothing alike. I would like to add the theory about they using Godzilla's skeleton as a base for a new mechagodzilla. However that wouldn't connect to the "monster island" theme that Gareth said he wanted.
I agree with GojiFan101. It's a Godzilla relaunch. In the trailer they said they awoke somethin in 1954. They could be in cannon with the first movie or at least have used the Oxygen Destroyer to eliminate the first Godzilla. Plus the only skeleton in any Godzilla movie have been the skeleton of the orignial Godzilla. I think they could do Kiryu/Mechagodzilla III for a sequel.

Some monsters with a lot of sequl potential to me would be monstorsities like Biollante, Hedorah, or even a redesigned Destroyah. Other monsters similar to Godzilla could incude Rodan or Anguirus. Ultimately though, there are a lot o monsters that would not really fit with the tone of what Gareth seems to be doing. I doubt we'll se him helm a film including King Ghidorah, Gigan, Mothra or Mechagodzilla any time in the foreseeable future.
Interesting idea. However, I highly doubt we'll see any type of mechs in the new Godzilla franchise. :/

I wonder if they will update Mechagodzilla to todays robots. Like a transformer. It goes from some super weapon to Mechagodzilla.
1. Im still not convicned that thats a godzilla skeleton.
2. Mechagodzilla isnt the most practical way to defeat godzilla with todays technologyl.
3. It dosent really fit the tone Gareth is trying to aim for.
4. With this info im gonna say no to mechagodzilla in a sequel.Yet could be wrong.
5. With todays cgi imagine how "Badass" mechagodzilla would look!
Great idea, but its never gonna happen, dude. :( I wish it would, but giant robots would, I think, undo a lot of the mood and tone Gareth is trying to instill into Godzilla and his world in this film. Besides, Pacific Rim already took on the concept, and many people would label a Mechagodzilla sequel a retread and address it with a "been there, done that" attitude. I'd love to see it, but there are other monsters far more likely to recieve Legendary updates.

Not to be negative, but there would be no point in creating Mechagodzilla.
Basing the shape of a giant robot off of another monster does not grant it the strength, durability, speed, or overall power of the creature it's based on.
There is no point in making a Kaiju shaped robot when a human shaped one is inherently faster, more agile, and better suited to combat under human control since it's the exact same shape and moves in the same way.
Mechagodzilla has no place in this Godzilla universe because the whole concept of Mechagodzilla is entirely without merit of any kind. There's no logic to designing a giant robot after a Kaiju at all. In the end, it's just metal and circuits and it will never be able to match or surpass the original in any kind of realistic setting.
then what else were they? It definetly doesnt look like Muto bones. Im sticking with Godzilla bones.
ign did pretty much confirm that there will be a godzilla skeloten, but the skeloten they were in looked very different from the skeloten from the trailer, for the one in the trailer if you look carefully you can see that the ribs extend far beyond the naked eye a previous godzilla skelotens have never looked like that.
Sorry guys I should have cleared this up sooner- the skeleton IS a Godzilla skeleton. IGN had a spoiler article and talked about when they visited the set during filming and they said they visited the set when they were filming the scene that was in the trailer with the huge bones and they also said that the skeleton was, indeed, that of an ancient Godzilla that had died. So yes it is in fact a Godzilla skeleton.
