True American Godzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-14-2014 8:16 PMAs we all know by now, the release date for the American Godzilla is May 16, 2014. Well, looking back at the 1998 American Zilla it's release date was May 20, 1998. So America's 1st Toho monster (below)...
...in comparison to America's 1st True Godzilla 16 years later...
Kind of poetic isn't it? Now I like Zilla and its film, but wanted something more Godzilla-like back when I saw it. I also wanted a new Godzilla to have some Zilla qualities, even if it was only its cool look. Now we have it!

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-14-2014 8:33 PMI'm a bit confused of what the point of this topic was but i'll take your word for it "The Great and Powerfull true American Godzilla". I liked the zilla film just because zilla is its own toho monster and not godzilla. Also I don't see how this godzilla looks zilla ish. Hmmmmmm I think i'm missing something that everyone else clearly see's but I don't. I KNOW! THEY ARE BOTH AMERICAN! THATS HOW THEY ARE SIMULAR! Anyways thank you for the information "The Great and Powerfull True American Godzilla". To be honest I never knew godzilla 1998 was released in May. Thanks for the interesting fact :D

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-14-2014 9:48 PMMay is just the start of the summer movie season. Nothing to do with "Ferris Bueller vs. the Iguana."

GODZILLA HIMSELF
MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-14-2014 10:59 PMthe only thing similar about them is the skin(just a little bit with the texture and whatnot) and the square-ish jaw
king of the monsters

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-15-2014 2:30 PMI agree as to I am confused about what the point of this is. A similar release date doesn't say anything, nor does it mean anything. There's no connection between the two in terms of production companies, distribution, design, or anything. To me, it seems this post does absolutely nothing but say "I liked Zilla but I think I'll like this one even more."
What's the point of that?

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-17-2014 10:30 AMHe's just pointing out a neat coincidence. The new movie is being released 16 years later, only 4 days before Zilla hit the theaters. It's an interesting little fact.
