Shinji Higuchi and Hideaki Anno, both won a Japanese Academy Award Best Director for their work on Shin Godzilla. The film went on to win 7 out of 11 awards, including Best Picture of 2016.
The highly successful Shin Ultraman has been nominated for 7 Japanese Academy Awards. Director Shinji Higuchi has been nominated solo this time. Anno, who wrote Shin Ultraman, didn't get a nod for his screenplay, but instead found himself nominated for the Best Editing category. Yohei Kurihara shares the nomination with Anno.

Best Lighting - Sosuke Yoshikado
Best Art Direction - Yuji Hayashida

Newcomer of the Year Award - Daiki Arioka
Hideaki Anno was last represented in the Japanese Academy Awards when his film, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time (known as Shin Evangelion in Japan) won Best Animated Film of the year.
Winners will be presented on March 10th, 2023 at the Grand Prince Hotel in Tokyo, Japan.
