Spoiler Alert: Meet the Servum from Godzilla: Monster Planet!

What is about to be shared is a major spoiler for the film Godzilla: Monster Planet regarding the new Servum creature and how it relates to Godzilla. DO NOT READ if you want to know ahead of time and if you want to avoid spoilers.

The following is translated from the Official Godzilla: Monster Planet website:

The Servum
A sub-species of Godzilla discovered by Earth landing troops, classified "Servum."

This information was compared with data collected on Godzilla after he was bombed by a nuclear warhead, cellular analysis reveals the Servum is 97% Godzilla.

Like Godzilla, their body has metallic-like tissue and can discharge an electromagnetic pulse.

There are two types. The flying-type and the worm-type, which burrow underground. The flying-type preys on the worm-type, and the worm-type preys on smaller animals creating a food chain.

So, what do you all think? Is this going to be a continuity of Shin Godzilla? Is this going in a different direction? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Obviously, this doesn't take place in the same continuity as Shin Godzilla, but the writers may be taking some ideas from that film's production that went unused.

We know it's not in the same continuity as Shin Godzilla, as the timeline reveals Godzilla did not appear for the first time until the year 2030. Though the concept of other creatures being spawned by Godzilla seems to be carried over into this production.

What King of the Monsters said, although this is very interesting indeed. I'm just happy to be getting so many Godzilla movies.

This is interesting. I like how there's metallic material in Godzillas skin, a fun way to explain Godzillas tough hide. I wonder if this means that Godzilla has an electromagnetic pulse as well.

If he does, that won't be fun for Humanity's machines.

Unless their alien allies EMP-proofed their stuff, that is :P

Also, the timeline was revealed months ago, but I still find it funny that this is one of the first times in the history of the franchise where the aliens AREN'T the bad guys, as far as we can tell.

Gman123,
Though extinct, the Venusians seemed quite friendly.

Hmm...I remember comments made by people that said "Shin Godzilla could be creating monsters with his reproduction."

Seeing how this "Servum" is a sub-species, kinda brings that "creating monsters" thing to a whole new meaning.

Well, kind of. In nature many creatures have subspecies but it doesn't necessarily mean that the creature is a straight up mutation of the original.

I really like the idea of new monsters being spawned from Godzilla.

"Doesn't mean the creature is a straight up mutation of the original."

You mean like how spacegodzilla is a mutation of the original? Cool.

While that does hold some truth to it, we don't know what Toho and Polygon pictures have in store for this Godzilla. Were the radioactive leeches sub-species of Godzilla? Of course not. Just mutations caused by his radioactive properties.

You guys think we'll see more variants of the Servum?

This reminds me a lot of Biollante and SpaceGodzilla. This is a great new way of featuring Godzilla and other life forms. very cool. since 2014 we have had a new Godzilla movie almost every 18 months. and from now on until 2020 that seems to be the trend for Godzilla. and other giant monster movies.
