Legendary is apparently not very happy with Warner Bros. over the recent decision to release Godzilla vs. Kong on HBO Max in addition to theaters.
Deadline has reported that Legendary is planning to send legal letters to Warner Bros. over the move to hybrid release both Godzilla vs. Kong and Dune. Legendary was apparently not notified about the move to HBO Max in advance, and did not find out until basically the same time that the public did.
To make matters worse, Legendary is responsible for roughly 75% of the budget for both films, so it makes sense that they would not be very pleased that they were not informed of the decision in advance. Only time will tell if this new report will end up having any implications on the release of the films or not, but many people are already wondering whether Legendary's disagreement about HBO Max played a role in the lack of new Godzilla vs. Kong content at CCXP.
While there was no new trailer shown at the virtual convention, a brief clip was showcased that granted fans new looks at the film's titular Titans. Assuming that no new major legal implications come out of Legendary's reported release disagreement, there is still a good chance that a trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong will arrive before Wonder Woman 1984 premieres on December 25.
