The last time King Ghidorah was brought to life in a feature film through tokusatsu was in Shusuke Kaneko's 2001, highly acclaimed, Godzilla, Mothra & King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (GMK). (A Ghidorah off-shoot, Keizer Ghidorah, would be seen in Godzilla: Final Wars [2004], but was not the same monster.) Nearly five years later, the same suit would be reused in footage for the pachinko game, CR Godzilla, where he would do battle with the 1999 Godzilla design from Godzilla 2000 (1999).
It's been 23 years, but the GMK King Ghidorah has once again been pulled out of retirement and refurbished for another battle! The Marubeni Corporation, Japan's largest import/export trading company, has recently put up an epic ad depicting samurai, zombies, asteroids and the King of Terror himself. Check out the return of King Ghidorah to tokusatsu:
Also check out this behind-the-scenes video which includes footage of the GMK King Ghidorah suit before it was refurbished. The suit was repaired for the aerial attack we see executed here:
