Developing: Godzilla 2 Begins Shooting this Year?

It's surprising but won't discount it yet, though. Is it possible Pacific Rim 2 could be filming there? 

^No, the studio isn't quite finished yet and Pacific Rim 2 isn't anywhere to be found on Atlanta's filming schedules. I actually expect Pacific Rim 2 to be wrapped before or by March.

Fair enough Gman, I can't think of any other giant lizard sequel movies that are coming out in the next 2 years that would likely be filming haha could very well be King of Monsters! 

I thought someone would talk about the S.H. Monsterarts "Monster Countdown" by now.

It makes sense to start this year actually. I didn't think it would be so soon (march), I was thinking maybe summer.

^I'm actually thinking the local report is misinformed and it's starting later in the year. I think it would make more sense to start shooting during the end of the year and spend all of next year in post-production.

On the other hand--They might be doing this to get a headstart on Godzilla vs. Kong... All of this is merely speculation though. The report is everything we have to go on.

^Do you think they could be filming G2 and GvsK simultaneously ala Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit? Seeing as how they are only 14 months apart?

The thought had crossed my mind, but again, it's reaching speculation at best.

They need to announce a director...

Wow that would be a huge jump if we go from no cast or director to shooting in a little over a month.

^I do wonder... Is production shooting in a month? Or is it simply moving there in a month? The facility isn't quite finished and when Godzilla 2's production team gets there they'll have to build sets, which normally takes a few months. That would fit a more realistic time table of shooting in the summer or later in the year.

And yet again, spit-balling.

I guess we'll find out soon if filming starts in March Legendary has like a month to start announcing roles for the film, maybe they're waiting till closer to Kong to hype that up along with G2.
